I just read that the 511 and 316 DVDs will be released in the US on August 12th by Rhino Home Video.

No link yet. Its in the August edition of Ice Magazine. Their web site is www.icemagazine.com, but it is not yet updated for the new release dates.
I bet your right, because I just bought 316 japanese dvd for about 45.00. So that means it will come out cheaper.

Your machine may be hackable, what model is it?

Pioneer; I don't recall the model number.

those Pioneers are VERY difficult to hack, they generally require a modification. But everyone else, check to see if your machine can be hacked.

Of course that would have to be the kind I bought!

at least Pioneers can be hacked...I read on one of those hack sites that Panasonics (of which I own two) can't be hacked!!!
Just buy an all region dvd player. Just goto to any place that sells or rents chinese movies. I'm willing to bet they sell them!
I bought mine for 149.00 Canadian dollars. And they gave me 2 free microphones. Its all region and NSTC and PAL. Even plays mp3's to boot.
I even saw it on ebay for 49.00 US plus 28.00 Shipping.
I think I might buy 316 US version. 11.99 is cheap enough!!!

but Jim, I don't know of any place locally that rents Chinese movies...maybe I should look in Vancouver on our day trip next week!
I bought the 511 DVD in the import section at our local "Best Buy" last month. I almost fainted when I seen it.
I could've sworn I saw the 511 Finsbury Park DVD at a CD store right by the Cure Trilogy DVD. I know I did, since I looked at the price, $30.00, and thought, who the heck would pay that for just one disc and one, according to many here, that has mediocre sound quality? Apparently, no one. But, the store sold several bootleg CDs that are waaaaaaay overpriced, so it doesn't seem too bizarre.

$30.00 is what I paid for it. As soon as I seen it I was going to buy it, I didn't even think about the price.

I'm certain what they saw was the Canadian release. Best Buy and Siren Disc imported them and charge $25-$30 US. I ordered mine from HMV Canada for $15 US but paid about another $10 for speedy shipping. It's worth the money either way.
Looks like it's now August 12th, according to Rhino
