More guitars, loads of bass and proper drums-high in the mix, instead of loads of programming. And get Gillian back.

Like a hybrid of Technique and Low-life, with better vocals from Barney that are not obviously altered with pitch-correction software.
avangardist instrumental electronic music. a whole piece of music of 40 or 50 minutes with different textures, different sounds, different colors, different shades. not the same as soundtrack which is the same pattern repeated for 30 minutes with no great surprises. a simphony, if you will. i think they could do that pretty well. i´d like that! ![]()
yep... get Gillian Back. I miss her. And hope it will be like their sound of early 80s. Power, Corruption and Lies. No more ambient ... I think they r not that keen on ambient though the Peter Saville soundtrack is not bad.
17 Seconds, Faith & Pornography
or:
get the band/producer to listen to Closer prior to writing/recording and ask themselves 'how can we match this?'
Less guitars and more keyboards. I also want to see Gillian return to the botherhood
More keyboards + Gillian = back to the '80's. But hey, Get Ready is a sign of the future - less experimental, more conventional - let's just go with what they do now and relish it. Before we know it they'll be getting their free bus passes (and so will we).
i understand that we LOVE the stuff new order did back in the 80s. but what´s the point of creating the same thing? i think the thing about NO is they always wanted to push their own limits and not making the same thing! if they hadn´t done that we wouldn´t have perfect kiss or blt, etc. they still be playing as joy division. so i hope for once they won´t do the same thing again. if i want the 80s i put their 80s records on.
I would love them to include a Joy Division song on it, just one, to see how they would do it nowdays.
Dave:D
Needs to start off with a monster, something to blow everyone away. Follow that up with a rocking bastard then transition into electronic XTC to show the world that NO is the best at dancability. Transition back and mellow out with an acoustic number or two then go introspective. End with another NO monster that will have us begging for more. Mix liberally and have the music world stumped as too define the genre of music they play. And, please, lots of singles with non-album b-sides and extra tracks.
I want the new album to sound like a mix between Technique and Get Ready with a couple of dark bass filled songs that would parallel Joy Division material
things i'd like to see on the next album:

You've obviously not heard Barney's interpretation of Atmosphere then. ![]()
I'd like to hear some special effects on their sound.More studio technology, more bass and Peter singing a song, their own production on the album, keep on with the guitars please.
Gillian won't participate of the album, sorry.
I'd like it to be a mixture of synthy and rock-type numbers, just to show their two different sides. Also, like a lot of people have been saying, GET GILLIAN BACK!
something i left out: i'd like the rockin' tunes to have more synth, and the synthy songs to have more rock-gusto (though, vicious streak and someone like you already do a good job at accomplishing this synthy w/ gusto concept.)
I just hope there would be some really original use of synth with some great guitar play, all anchored by awesome bass lines

lol, I would like to see NO to do some mall concerts in the Valley, imagine how like totally awesome and like gnarly that would like be

The Valley has six malls (including Fallbrook which is currently being rebuilt )(maybe seven if they do decide to build a small one in Porter Ranch) for NO performances
Now there's an idea to sell NO to a new generation - a tour of all the malls, a la Tiffany. I can just see it - have a few cooking demo's, maybe a short fashion show and then a 30 min NO gig. Pretty soon you'll have Crystal and BLT blasting out of all those soccer mom 4x4's across the nation.
The drums - faster but slower.
As far as a mall tour goes, they'll have to hope that their sound isn't too muudy or harsh. I was forced to sit through an O-Town concert at a mall 3 years ago, and the accoustics - with the singing, the harsh samplers, the fact that they cornily came out of an elevator - were bad. But, so was standing with over 200 screaming fans.

hey c'mon no one would be able to resist bernard's striking good looks, and imagine NO touring socal, New Jersey, Minnesota; it would be awesome; I would then have a reason to go to the mall rather than just going to buy over-priced pretzels
Damn mallrats...
If the production on Here to Stay and Vietnam (hey, I said production, they didn't write it) is any indication we're in for a treat.
-I'd like to be surprised. I was pleasantly surprised with Get Ready, I didn't expect the sound to be that rocky and I liked it, it was like hey ! they're doing something else again. And I didn't complain about the guest vocalists because that was something else they've never done before (but once was enough). Unlike Republic, which was something Electronic had done already, but better. -I'd like to feel emotion from it-again something missing during the Republic era. -I'd prefer a more guitary sound, if Barney can manage it. -And I'd like a proper tour of continental Europe in front of long-awaiting fans, possibly places they've never played before, and I mean tour, not appaearances on festivals, where there's a mish-mash of their fans, other people's fans and people who just come to get drunk and drugged and wonder around a field.
More stripped down, a minimal sound. Less polished as well, a bit ramshackle, with clattery drums and lots of "space" in the sound. Mean, low, propulsive bass. I think the rockier, more guitar-oriented approach of Get Ready may well be repeated. They've already done the electronic stuff, and there's plenty of room for exploring a rockier sound within the NO context.

I'm a pessimist, that's my flaw; I always expect the worse so that I'll never be disappointed
you'll be disapointed when you get SARS! that's what pessimisim gets you! and then you can't ride the bus with the other kids. they make you stay inside all day and subject you to every note ever recorded by Herman's Herrmits and ABBA, simultaneously!

That doesn't sound so bad.... "Dancing Queen...." :D
Ok that's bad, but there could be worse; I could be stuck in a room listening to former celebrity bands

...and then he'll never have to date again.
They should move Hooky from playing the bass to playing the electric tuba, make Stephen play a stage full of timpanis each tuned to a single note, give Barney a day off by using Ian Curtis' unused lyrics and send him off for more of whatever they were smoking on 'Fine Time,' stick Gillian in the corner so she can hold Stevie's timpani mallets, sell Phil Cunningham to Depeche Mode, have guest appearances from such noted personalities as Robert Smith and *gasp* Vince Clarke, and work each song into some sort of Kraftwerk cover.
Solid gold hit, baby. And throw in some Movement-style production.
when gillian isn't holding stephen's mallots (he'll only need two), she can play marimba, vibes, glockenspiel, cretalis, bell chimes, xylophone, and gong.

You forgot the bongos and the mandolin

oh, the joy of posting on a male-dominated message board...
raw meat in one hand, bell-chime hammers in the other. what a sight!

I thought she was Wonder Woman, of course she can cook during performances

It seems absurd but I liked the idea a lot :D
the one point in the entire post that i agree with is getting rid of phil cunningham... but only if he is replaced by Gillian.

Here's what they do: Get Barney on a "model diet" (celery and water, with a saltine if you're lucky), force Hooky to grow out his mullet (or fashion a wig to the specifications of the "Low-life" era version), leave Steve out on the roof with the drums, and get a babysitter for Gillian's kid so she can get out of the house.
Then, recruit P.Diddy, J.Lo, and Jay-Z to come aboard a cruise boat, which will "accidentilly" sink (i.e., fire a torpedo from an old U-boat) in the waters off Easter Island. Hi-jack Justin Timberlake's limo and drive it off the Golden Gate Bridge ('cause, you know, he likes to hang out at the bath houses, so I've heard, in San Francisco). And staple Celine Dion's mouth shut.
When all these events have come to pass, get Steve off the roof, Barney on life support, Gillian in some retro duds, and Hooky off the whiskey, and force them onstage at the MTV Music Video Awards, where they will astound everyone by proving that
and 2. They still put out records (every now and then)
When the pieces fall into place, leave Fred Durst stranded in the Library of Congress and have Carson Daly bound and gagged and forced, Clockwork Orange-style, to watch his own "Last Call" show.
How this helps New Order
, but it sure sounds cool, right? ![]()

I think cocaine and malboros would be a much better diet, and Barney should dress like MC Hammer, and rap about voluptuous female rears

I used to live in Westwood when I went to UCLA, then around in the Valley, now in West Covina, and I'm originally from San Diego. So all over SoCal. And no New Order fans anywhere, though I've made plenty of converts.
And as far as what i want the next New Order album to sound like, i guess i'm sort of itching for a full-out guitar album. I didn't really like the fact that Get Ready was so guitar-heavy at first, but now I like it that way.
