This is one of the most influential tracks ever, but it must be remembered that New Order created it from the composite parts of some little known dance tracks. What New Order did was help the world's indie kids hook onto the dance rush that was to follow. They did a great thing, and it is a great sounding record, but it must be remembered that it was original only in that it wasn't the kind of music white guitar bands made before New Order made this decisive strike. The BBC still uses it occasionally as a backing track to their 'what's on soon' segments. It's been covered by Orgy, The Times, etc. used by Kylie, and is still one of, if not THE most recognisable intros of all time. As for Alasdair's comment - I just heard a WONDERFUL accoustic version of BM, with female vocals - performed by a band called Flunk(I think!). It certainly stands the test of time.
