Music for Pleasure vs. Monaco

I have Music for Pleasure and am debating on getting Monaco but don't want to get it if it's a disappointment like SuperHighways was for The Other Two. Opinions please. :)

Well, both albums are great. But I think like the first one better. If you liked the first one then you won't be disappointed by the second one...

Music For Pleasure is one of my all-time favourite albums. However, the 2000 Monaco release doesn't come even close to it if you compare them. But then again, why compare them? They're both very different.

I've got to say I was quitw disappointed on hearing the 2000 Monaco album. There are some crackers but it kind of gets lost from tracks 4-6 before a good finish. 7/10

Music for Pleasure, for me. Excellent album from top to bottom.

Monaco, the 2nd album, isn't too shabby, but has a few tracks that were average at best (A Life Apart, Black Rain, Marine) and the rest was superb.

If you don't get the second album, in my opinion, you will really be missing out. There are some absolute belters on it, and its one of my favourite NO related releases ever! It also contains some of Hooky's best ever vocals

Ok. I think I'll buy it. But I need some help on finding it. None of the record shops have it. Any suggestions?

Music for Pleasure is just below Technique for me, in my top 5 albums of all time. The second is alright, but not nearly as great.

Both albums are good, but I have to say that I prefer Monaco.

So hard to call this one. They are both great and both quite different, but 'Monaco' wins it for me, mainly coz I love 'It's a boy' and 'See Saw' so much.

Anyone who liked 'Music for Pleasure' will like 'Monaco' as well - no doubt (especially if they are a NO fan as well).

With Monaco, I prefer all the songs where Hooky is singing and years on now, I get kind of annoyed hearing vocals by Potts.

Definitely the second one for me. Like someone said earlier, it's on my top 5 of all NO-related releases. "It's a Boy" is probably their greatest track ever :^)

Music for pleasure is a little better i guess..but never as good as electronic.

the second one contains kashmere....probably one of my favourite monaco songs

Music For Pleasure is one of my all-time faves. I didn't enjoy Monaco as much.

In my opinion, MONACO second album simple title "MONACO" is better than the (first) "MUSIC FOR PLEASURE", BUT they're are both great releases. It's POTTSY's fav! not ONLY he personally signed it for me, but also praise and complimented me for having a copy. So I will DEFINITELY recommended! You are not TRUE N/O fan if you don't have both, regardless!

i honestly can't decide between the two.

Music for Pleasure is just a smooth groove from start to finish, for me. I like Monaco, but M4P is the album that I cling most to. I also am one of the people that finds Hooky's vocals in this later sideband to be excellent, and prefer them over Potts (sorry, that!) -- he learned to perfect his deep growl/croon and it sounds great.

You won't be disappointed.

I just recently picked up replacements for my collection (cds were getting a bit.. or ratty) and grabbed all three Eelectronic albums, both Other Two's and both Monaco's for under 50$ @ Amazon about a month or two ago. Doesn't hurt to go to a few resale shops or used cd store to seek out copies, either - that's where I got my Revenge replacements.

Whoa. I guess I should have posted that I ended up buying the Monaco self-titled album. It's been almost a year now and I even got Hooky to sign the CD booklet when he came out to DJ in Denver. See picture to the left...hee hee.

Yes I do agree that it is a must have. See-Saw and Black Rain are my 2 favorites on this one.

Heaven-7 on the I've Got a Feeling single is a must have also! Makes me think I'm some exotic island drinking mai tai's! :D

Very cool! Now, if I could only get my hands on Monaco, I'd have a qualified opinion. :(

Music for Pleasure is an excellent album, but like Electronic's first album, the second album (for me) never quite reaches the same heights.

Having said that, still worth getting the 2nd album!
