I hope I'm not scooping Ally on this, but he found that on RAM's website:

2nd July 2005 Found a rather amusing page on www.neworderonline.com featuring a huge list of people commenting on Monaco songs and b sides. And by the way, I'm not a Pot Head! Eeeh, all those years ago.

I've wondered that also. What exactly is this name meant to suggest, particularly for a one-man operation?

i got dragged along to watch morning runner at bierkeller in manchester last friday,i'm sure the bass player in the first support band was potts,i was going to ask him because he sat down in front of us when they'd finished, but i didn't bother,it wasnt ram though because he wasn't singing but i read somewhere he was lending a hand to someone playing bass for a couple of month, interesting pop fact,or not!

It's a homage to Paul McCartney's solo album of the same name. I think it was Macca's second solo effort but I could be wrong. Anyhow, Pottsy's a big fan of McCartney's stuff and so he chose that name for his band. I'm not really a huge fan of Macca's solo stuff personally, I think 99% of it (and Wings) is drivel, that album cover is pretty horrible too  even for the seventies. But I can see how Macca would appeal to younger songwriters like Pottsy. He also told me he was once told he's got a memory like RAM, as in Random Access Memory.

Definitely not Revenge And Monaco I'm afraid.
