Monaco split

Monaco played the Eclipse festival in 1999, not 2000. It wouldn't surprise me if those "mounting tensions" are also a bit of creative license by whoever wrote the Wikipedia article as well. Monaco only played 3 indoor gigs in 2000 and none of them were festivals.

Not to say there weren't some tensions in Monaco towards the end but that was only natural I suppose. Hooky was about to bugger off back to New Order and Monaco's fate was sealed around 2000. I can't say for sure but I imagine Pottsy was probably a bit disappointed his band were heading towards such an abrupt end. But at the same time I think he was looking forward to doing his solo stuff and not having his music ruled by "the New Order sound" so much.

They're obviously still good mates and I don't think there was ever any real animosity. All bands have hissy fits and if Monaco did have any they were generally kept out of the public domain.

Come to think of it, Eclipse might've been around the same time "I've Got A Feeling" was played on radio for the first time; made it onto the internet in a RealAudio file

Everyone (who cares) knows about the Manc vs Cancer 2007 date as far as I'm aware so I doubt it'll cause too many shockwaves.

I'm wondering how they'll do it really, are they going to rope in the old live band they had around 2000? Or are we to expect stripped back versions with just guitars?

I hope not, alot of Monaco's best tunes have a hefty amount of keyboard.
