I just ordered Best of electronic with DVD, where I am is North America, what pisses me off I forgot that the dvd is from UK so its PAL format and I cant play it on my NTSC dvd player. They really missed out by not including the DVD region over in North America. Now I have a DVD wasted because I cant play it. Wonder if a person can burn it and change it to NTSC?

you should be able to go into the menu of both your tv and dvd player and set the system in both from NTSC to auto.
that's what I did to play NTSC dvds.
well that and getting hack from the net to set the dvd player to zone 0.
good luck. As far as I know the Electronic dvd is not region encoded.

You can simply set your computer DVD to read PAL instead of NTSC... be warned, you can only change that like 10 times before it locks.
But, get a multi-zone DVD player, this will do the trick... and some DVD players also have hacks for those type of things.. search google with the model of your DVD player and "zone hack" and maybe it will give you something.
What I dont get the seller is from US, they are 3rd party for amazon selling stuff there, they should have warned its PAL for North American buyers. Why would the sell UK stuff over there?

Well the DVD version was UK only. We had a good discussion about that here at the release time.
I think that just about all reasonably new TVs and DVD players can play and display both NTSC and PAL. The manufactures would be crazy to build special models for all parts of the world.
Follow my above advice and you will have a PAL capable visual system.
I tried to get into the DVD menu but I have a hard time doing that, do I need a disc in or it has to be out? I am affraid if I do this too many times, it would lock like Spotnick says. My TV menu is either getting into displays, souind or caption, I dont know how to technically get into that without screwing up the dvd. I have a cheap dual player DVD/VHS from walmart.

Especially the cheap players are designed to play just about anything.
There should definitely be a system option coming up there somewhere. I don't think you need a disc in there, but try it both ways.
Your TV and dvd player may even have a sys button on their remotes.
Anyway to permanently set them to auto you need to get into video options.
Have a look at the manuals. It should be explained in there how to change your TV and DVD player from NTSC to auto.
Doing this will not affect your ability to play region 1 DVDs.
As I said above region coding is a whole different matter and there are hacks on the web for most players anyway. These usually involve opening the tray and then you can reset them to region 0. I don't think the Electronic DVD is region encoded, so this really doesn't apply here. Your issure here is playing PAL DVDs and not region coding. Just in case post the make and model of your player and I'll see what I can find.
I will try as soon as I get the tv. I will try that display button on my DVD remote to see that will get into it.
The solution lies with IFO Edit. It's a free software that allows you (after you copy the VOB files from the DVD to your computer) change the PAL designation to NTSC. Then just reburn the DVD and wa-la! It works on your DVD player.
Do a google search for IFOEdit. Sorry, I can't be arsed into explaining much more...I'm going to bed. :sleep2:

I will have to see as soon as I get my CD/DVD back, I lent it to a perosn at local shop who likes the Smiths and Joy Division, his eyes lit up when I lent it to him ;)
