Oops! Is there a term called past perfect tense anyway? But yes you got my point. For example: when do I say I FORGOT and when do I say I HAD FORGOTTEN??? But guess what we have some weird grammar rules here too I mean so damn weird I don't even know them and will never try to understand. Marking was just fun you have to admit it. It's not like I really meant every thread deserved 5 stars. But I still owe Mr. Green a great revenge for marking my radio thread as terrible.

don't worry, maya. few native english speakers understand english grammatical rules, either! we just speak it...we don't analyze it (too complicated)!

Used to confuse many people so instead of a new reply to the existing thread they kept on starting a new thread. The old forum was such a mess. :\ohwell:

Unfortunately Serbo-Croat as one language doesn't exist anymore. Those are 2 different languages now sounding pretty much the same. You can compare it to British and American English for example. So, Julijana and me understand each other very well. Btw, in Serbian desk is male and chair is female.

I believe you would say "I had forgotten" when you want to make the point that the forgetting occurred before some other event. For example, "When I arrived at the airport to catch my flight to Australia, I realized I had forgotten to bring my passport."

Even without the stars, I feel confident that there will at some point be an opportunity for revenge.

Nic, I thought the "Who's Online?" function of the new forum was quite useful but it doesn't seem to be working here.

On a more nit-picky note, can you possibly decrease the size of the text that appears after you edit one of your posts? It used to be small and unobtrusive, now it sort of dominates the post a bit.

Uhm, I'm not entirely convinced yet our Maya actually lives in Belgrade, but I'm starting to believe it's not a joke after all... Well, if it's true it's amazing and you must be the daughter of the former ambassador in London or something. Anyway I guess you've lived in England enough to learn English as it's spoken rather than studying it (since you still have doubts about grammar rules) or you're subscribed to quite some English magazines since you were very young, or you've got your radio stuck to BBC World Service, but I don't think the latest two options are enough to make such an excellent English. I mean you make people like Almanso, Nic and me look like total novices to the fookin language! ;) Maybe it's just that I'm used to the other Italians who are even worse than me at English... About the forum, I'm really happy the old one is back, we can use the accounts of the site and I can use IE again with working smilies and everything...

Back on track, I miss the private messages feature, and for some reason I don't understand, I was able to use the email links at the bottom of the threads, and now they don't work (for me).

Also good from the other forum: Rollover mouse popup, post status (top 10, top 25 etc).

Still, I find it funny, because the Italian (huge) community in Montreal speaks english all the time, so I'm not used to see Italians having problems in english ;)

For example in Holland everyone knows 3 or 4 languages because they get all the foreign channels, here very few people have sat TV, and it's mainly to receive Sky's Italian channels...

*Uh, don't expect anything with French, I tried to learn the fookin language when I was a kid, but gave up because it was too fookin difficult, and honestly (no offence I hope) it sounds horrible too. ;) Come on, all those final accents! And THAT "R"!!! English is easy and pleasant, it should be known worldwide and be the official language of Europe. Then everyone can keep their own languages of course (and you can keep French), I wouldn't want to force anything, but there's no competition between English and French. My sister is very good at French (she's an actress and toured France for months) and adores it though, so to each their own...

BTW Maya, Gilberto was trying to say he'll have to go through fookin touts to get tickets and joked about your knowledge of English meaning you're so good you could even speak Canadian (which of course does not exist).

Damn right. French is such a pain in the butt. Tried to learn it 5 or 6 years ago but couldn't memorize a single word.

Oh, she's not that famous! ;) She's called Serena and just acts in small theathres, plays dedicated mostly to children and based on fables or biographies of artists etc., and it happened they had quite some success in France because French schools appreciated their work and bought their shows for months, that's it... Her last work was Les Vilain Petit Canard, how is it called in English, The Ugly Duck?

Reading again Gilberto's post, actually it looks like he did a mistake by writing "she" and he really meant you, Nic, would think not only in English and French, but also Canadian... yeah it wasn't that easy to get, funny joke though... :)
