As i love soccer threads :), this is a follow up to World Cup 2006 poll, although it s much nearer today and our predictions can be more precise.... (can work as a betting guide too, who knows ). Notice that teams with * still havent secured their pisition to the finals, but my guess is they will eventually make it.

God i hate the Eurovision song contest, i mean, what is the point of it all? Maybe France could win if they got Stereolab to do a song, but that will never happen.

first... Buffer Low, what are you smoking? share with us! :evil4: Eurovision? :skeptic:

now, on topic. i´ll put some coins to Turkey. as a matter of fact i said they would do a great job and they passed to the second round. then i said they would play a great World Cup and they finished 3rds loosing only 2 games for only 1 goal difference against the champions, Brazil. so i must stay with those guys. Turkey, it is! :thumb:

Jeff mate, Sweeden's over there... I wouldnt bet a cent on them though, even Greece has won them in a friendly 2 months ago, and believe me for Greece, being in the finals is a big achievement already :) . As for Eurovision contest , Turkey won the last one, so i think on soccer, it will be someone else's turn this time Almanso ;). Italy is my guess. Seriously now, Turkey's a very good team, but i think they reached their peak in last world cup. A good outsider I could suggest is Chech R. They were first in their group, with 7 wins and one draw, against Netherlands, and that wasnt a surprise, as they have a bunch of top class players (Nedved, Rositski, Kohler etc.)

Ze Germans - went close in the World Cup and will be determined to win, also they just have that habit of winning when everyone writes them off. Achtung!

Vive la France! If France has a healthy team they should win, but if not the Germans will definitely win the cup on their home turf

I would have voted for Greece but I'm slightly sane  so... Spain it is for me :D .

It'll be their home turf during the world cup, the euro one is taking place in Portugal :)

hmm, Spain? i don´t think they´ll ever win anything. as Portugal. they´re what in my country call "cold chest". that means they seem to play well, but they never win anything because of the fact they sh*t themselves everytime they got something important in front of them. just like Holland. if they didn´t win on 74 (great team w/Cruyff) or 78 (great team w/o Cruyff) or even 90 (Van Basten, Gullit, Rijkaard, Koeman, etc) they´ll never win anything.

Actually Almanso, Holland has won somethin, the Euro cup 1988 in Germany, where they beat the late USSR in the final 2-0 (what a great goal Van Basten scored then btw ). Todays team however, although it has plenty of talent, seems to be missin something... Probably a big soccer personality, like Van Basten or Gullit. Keep all in mind that never a team who won the previous Euro Cup, repeated that in the next (a reason i didnt pick France, even though they seem to have an impressive team again). Also, unlike the World Cups, there's always room for "smaller" teams and surprises (i can remind u Denmark in 1992 also Chech R. in 1996 who lost in extra time in the final). Anyway, im looking really forward to that one, as there are no clear favourites, hoping that this time, unlike the last World Cup in Asia, we ll see some good plays, and less "slaughters" by the referees .

I think it was Garry Lineker (pls correct me if im wrong) who once said "soccer is a game that 22 players play, and in the end, the Germans win"

football is the game with the weird-shaped ball with laces; soccer is the game with the ball with pentagons and hexagons, but this is my American point of view. I could hardly care less about soccer unless it dealt with Man U losing (they r my bro in law's favorite team) or the French national team winning.

Soccer, Football, it's all the same; kicking a ball around for no apparent reason. We have the Rugby World Cup here at the moment; i don't see any plausable reason for it (go All Blacks);)
