english football - the US has such an odd relationship with footy ;) - nearly every child, including myself, grows up playing soccer - i even had a little scholarship to play soccer at the girls college i went to - and then the mass public awareness seems to vanish completely. however, i'd probably say differently if i was anywhere near a professional team. the closest is miami (which is NOT anywhere near where i live - not even in a hardcore fan way - it's 6 hrs drive) and DC united - a plane ride away. i wish it were more accessible. when i was younger, we used to go see the Tampa Bay Magic (long gone) play - absolutely loved it~

Hmmm... Can't see any responses. Well I am an American and I hate American football...it's like golf, there's only 5 seconds of action with 5 minutes of nothing at a time. This game could be played and finished in 30 minutes if it weren't for all the time outs and lolly lagging they do. Soccer is much more fun to watch.

Strange... In my opinion it is the other way round... Soccer bores my sometimes to death... In american football there's mostly suspense until the last seconds. Perhaps the reason is that we in europe are flooded with soccer games on TV. American football is still exotic around here. I'm glad that our Pay-TV shows it... Can hardly wait for the new season to begin... RAMS go!!!

At least with Rugby all the aggression stays on the field.

Proper football where you kick the ball with your foot and the ball is round and you score goals (unless you're QPR). Now, does anyone remember a football board game from the 70's/80's called Striker, the players were about 2" tall and you had to press their heads down to kick the ball and sometimes their heads would get stuck and when they finaly released the kick it had such power that you could score spectacular long range goals..better than subbuteo

Football/soccer. I think that it's an absolutely wonderful sport. I love Manchester United and I can't wait until the World Cup starts in Germany next summer!!!
