Republic for me...After Regret(which is one of the very best songs of all time for me)there was nothing and it was very disappointing, considering just how good the previous albums were.I never took to Movement but I did'nt feel gutted like with Republic, maybe because I got Movement well after its release...Bland and boring, Republic was to me.Never listened to it in years.Like Get ready alot, love certain Tracks on WFtSC:music:Gratefully LOOking forward to another one :thumb:

Errr, I accidentally cast one vote for Technique, I meant to go for Republic........damn hay fever......

That's allright about dissing Brotherhood, I know why some people don't like it, but it was the right album at the right time for me, so that's why I love it.

Brotherhood. I will, 2 good songs here, WOL and ADL

Very surpised to see that Movement is sufferring...

It's very different to the other albums; very dark and depressive, but again, it documents a key moment in NO history and is full of songs that are 3/4 what JD were and 1/4 what NO was to become...

REPUBLIC, without a doubt. Too much of it is fluff. Regret is one of the best songs they ever did, though.

I think MOVEMENT is a superb album.

Interesting the 'favourite' thread looks like this at the moment: MOVEMENT [7] [7.22%]

POWER, CORRUPTION AND LIES [10] [10.31%]

LOW LIFE [19] [19.59%]

BROTHERHOOD [9] [9.28%]

TECHNIQUE [41] [42.27%]

REPUBLIC [5] [5.15%]

GET READY [4] [4.12%]

WAITING FOR THE SIREN'S CALL [2] [2.06%]

From that, you wouldn't expect Republic & Movement to be (by far) the least favourites

Ben wrote: I'll abstain from voting (since I don't have all of their albums as of now), but I must say that I really enjoy Movement: it has an almost hypnotic effect on me, and it's so moody and dark. The synths are very primitive sounding, and Barney's voice is distorted and fragile, both of which create a rather eerie sound and atmosphere. I'd even prefer it, as a whole, to Technique, which is much less cohesive (even though it contains a few of my favourite tracks).

Hi Ben,

You may not be Ben for I've been Ben quite long before you. Except if Maya wants two Bens in her virtual life.

Anyway, welcome. And I must say that I agree with your comment on Movement (except the comparison with Technique).

I've gone for Movement. I don't even bother to listen to that one much now.

I've gone for 'Movement' only because it was a transistional album, today was the first time I have played it for 2 years.

Until recently it was WFTSC now it is Get Ready again. All New Order albums have grown on me and aren't immediate albums (even my favourite, Technique) but despite repeated plays Get Ready has not grown, where WFTSC does reveal subtle charms. Get Ready is just a collection of pleasing enough guitar songs. That's not what I want from New Order. It's also the only album in my opinion not to contain any 'great' songs.

I am surpised movement suffered too. NO was in JD shadow, if you dont like Movement then you are not a true new order fan. These guys also like joy divsion even if both are different style.

Republic is the weakest, though beginning with a "jewel" : Regret.

maybe movement doing badly in this poll is a 'TIME'thing. when it was released it was something so differant and new.cool i suppose.deep moody music was all the rage amongst us ALTERNATIVE types, also i.e. the cure. it was the only new order album we had of course.hence i still love it with great affection and memories.but can understand that if i'd never heard it until now,i might have a differant view of it

Gotta be Movement. It was their first album after JD so a lot of it can be forgiven. But still, it doesn't get played as often as the others!

I do like 'Movement' but it's definitely my least favourite NO album. It won't be everyones cuppa though and I don't think you can say that someone would not be a true NO fan if they didn't like one particular album. Part of the beauty of the band is that there's something pretty much for everyone.

I've got to say though, some of their stuff I hardly listen to, if at all, even if it is New Order. I still love the band like everyone else here does, I just won't spend time listening to individual tracks that don't do anything for me just because it's New Order. I absolutely love most of their work though so i've still got plenty to listen to :)

Maya was right and I was wrong... WFTSC isn't the fan's least favourite - it's MOVEMENT and REPUBLIC.

Very surprised indeed!

I'd give both these 8 out ten and Siren's 7 out of ten...

I liked republic, but it spends most of its time on my shelf.

As much as I love Crystal and 60 MPH,I still think Get Ready is the black sheep. It distants itself too much from their old sound. At least Republic appeased everyone who liked True Faith and all their other tech-pop stuff but leaving the lad-rock fans into Sunrise and Paradise in the cold.

The album I play the most is Movement now.Despite what everyone says about Hannett ruining it,it sounds like nothing else. Whenever I play Senses and The Him,it still gives me the shivers.I'll have to turn that sub-woofer down!

Low Life.

It bores the hell out of me, bar SubCulture. Though I do like Elegia live.

I put my vote in for Get Ready, because it is the one album that gets put on the least on my playlists. I don't hate it, I just think it will take me longer to get used to it, while WFTSC seemed to bounce right back in to some effect of "the sound" I was looking for.

To its defense, Run Wild and Someone Like You get heavy play, as does Crystal. I'm sure with another year of listening to it, I'll be fully acclimated. Took me a while to see the brilliance* in Technique, too.

(*never mind it involved being influenced to some extent by recreational mood enhancers.)

i do like the some of the tracks of movement, but the least fave coz, its weird

I voted for Get Ready. There's some good tracks on there, but overall, I think that it is a weak album. I know a lot of people tend to not like Republic for some reason, but I don't really like the album Get Ready very much.

movement - then Republic

LOW LIFE is the best

for people voting for TECHNIQUE as least fave - What the fuck are you people on? its a fuckin masterpiece. leave this website NOW!!!!!!!!

Fair analysis there, Mr Kershaw. Although I'd say the first side of Technique is not quite as good as the second side, which is real quality. But to say Technique is rubbish is just weird. Anyway, Low-Life best. Movement then Republic weakest.

NObabe wrote: Fook Conrad you actually voted for Low Life!?!?! :nonono: I will forgive you but never forget  I voted for Republic. The answer is simple (as me :uhoh: ) - Stephen Hague

???Maja, I'm so disappointed:cry: It's my fav album! if not their best (!) Up until Republic (exc. Movement) most of their albums didn't have some kind of UNITY (as albums should normally have) (e.g. The Cure's Pornography, Disintegration, PSB's Behaviour, etc). Quite contrary to that, No's albums till 93' sounded more like "singles compilation". But, don't get me wrong! I, nevertheless, like ALL of them. However, with Republic album, I think they reached some sort of symbiosis between the songs....there's this almost "opening" and "ending" of the album....the way Pink Floyd used to make them..... The last two, contrary to your view, are my least fav. I like them but I can't say they are their best albums.

Boring Technique - Are you mad?? voted for Republic - apart from Regret, it really isnt very good...

OK. I guess I'm the only one (besides my hubby) who loves Republic. So, the case is lost:banghead:

Cheers to all of you who voted against it:beer: as i'd like to make a deal with you:

whoever doesn't like Republic and uses it as a "dust-keeper", you are more than welcome to send your copy to me. I'll use them every fookin day!:smoking: I guess that would mean I'd end up with 1543 or so copies of Republic:scratch: GREAT:thumb:
