1. best bit: It is impossible to single out a best bit. From the cold precision of the drum machine intro, to the sequenced fade-in; through the perfect lyrics and vocals, to the otherworldly fade-out...this song has it all.

2. worst bit: Only one thing detracts, ever so slightly, from this song (we're talking about the original version, by the way): the cheesy Chic-style soul synth part.

3. why you love/hate it: Jesus H. Christ! Is this the most perfect song ever? Sorry, I know that New Order afficionados pretend to like other New Order songs better, but COME ON! It doesn't get any better than this! Absolute sheer brilliant MONSTER of a bass synth line...cold drum machines..Hooky's bass weaving in and out...perfect synth work...cold, cold lyrics...perfect vocals..otherworldly harmonies... There's a reason it got overplayed, people.

Here in greece, one of the two NO songs you're likely to hear in a club/bar is blue monday (the other being true faith)....

I like BM a lot (90%) , but I hate how every other greek sh*thead claims to be a NO fan when all he knows is BM and TF ...

1. The opening, the vocals, the fact that it's so easy to dance to. And the TOTP performance wasn't bad.
2. Too many bad remixes and then there's The Beach.
3. One of the first tracks I heard by NO, although I managed to hear Orgy's version first (shame I had to grow up in the '90s).
4. 85%

'Blue Monday' is my favorite song of all times, it is fantastic, perfect.

1. Best bit is the intro before the vocals kick in.
2. Worst bit is... absolutely nothing! Okay, maybe overplayed and being pigeonholed as New Order's style of music (dance only).
3. It paved the way for other groups and dance music in the early 80s. Right Robert Smith? (The Walk)
4. 100% for being the penultimate masterpiece.

the song is a classic but does it need to be played at every New Order gig?? I think the overplayedness of this track has made it lose some of it's appeal to me. i guess this is a blasphemy but ah well...

3. Why I love it: it's pretty much guaranteed to get any party going and it's timeless - you can play it to any crowd, young or older, and the reaction's the same

2. In some versions the "tac tac tatatatatatata tac" is lack of impact! too bad, and it's in the latest versions may be. I positively know it's copied from an Italo Disco era song.

Best Bit--Hooky's bass how I love it so. Probbaly the best bass riff EVAR

Worst bit--sounds sort of dated now, many "empty" spaces in it.

WHy--It is the song that launched 1000 bands and turned dance music on its head

Best Bit: Everything, and yes that includes the 3600 live versions.

Worst Bit: None, one of the greatest songs ever

Love/Hate: An absolute masterpiece.

*My favourite song ever, the one that definitely made me a New Order fan. I liked them before, but I preferred Joy Division. Then one day I'm walking in the street and all those keyboards spring into my mind. "Wait!", I think, and run home and play the song once again and everything is in its right place, I understand all the genius of New Order at once.

*The fact that it became so popular it's too obvious to like it and many fans and even the band try to snob it. But all this can't deny the magnificience of the masterpiece.

3. why you love/hate it

*I love it because of all those layers of keyboards. The greatest symphony ever written. I also really like the Hardfloor 1995 version, and the cover by Orgy, both respectful and inventive treatments of the song.

1.0 - It sounds fooking GREAT when the volume is up L_OU~D!!!

2.0 - After all these years, it's still the most recognizable tune to the loser ass 'NO Fans' who've only heard BM, TF & BLT.

2.1 - The BM88 CDV is too hard to find.

3.0 - It's the only meloncholy tune I know that still manages to shed some light in the dark days of our lives!! (Makes you shake your ass no matter what!!)

4.0 - I'll give it a 99.2 1/3% rating... (Would be 100% but there is no excuse for the '95 remixes)

1, The floppy disc sleeve is classic New Order,but i think its ran its course nowdays musically. 21 years ago it was really innovative,but that was before house music came along.

wedding dj stuff

1. The beat. Of course the bass line is brilliant, but it's the insistent thump thump thump that makes you want to dance like a beeyotch.

2. That Sumner hates it so much. Dude, come on. If a gajillion people loved it and it had such an impact on the dance culture, you must have done something right. Also, it's a bit simplistic...

3. ...but it's also refreshingly minimalist. Also, the bass line. Also, BEST SONG EVAH.

best bit - bass drum and bass line worse bit - lack of chorus and its very repetitive i dont like it that much as its been played to death and is a pretty boring tune. not surprise Barney slags it off at every concert. 60%

Best bit is the intro.

Worst thing about it: nothing really, apart from overexposure.

One reason I love it is that it was the first NO single that I could buy at the local, non import, record store in my town; a relief to not have to mail order it or drive 90 miles.

rating 95%, not tired of it yet, surprisingly enough.

why ?

Because it's immortal. It's one of those songs that'll still sound great 20 years hence, I'm convinced.

1. best bit: It must take months to get a track with so many layers of seq. The lyrics can only be defined as a NO tradtion.

3. why you love/hate it: When disco was long gone and this song hit the radio, it brought out a new way to make dance music using the great traditions of the past great again. Only you knew this song from NO was going to be around a long time. I still have the original 12" and import of BM.
