1. the way it gets into a trance-inducing groove and stays there, carrying you along...but doesn't overstay its welcome. that last bit is very important.

3. good and creepy, and again, doesn't overstay its welcome. can't stress enough how important that is in a song...and in most things, really.

1,2 & 3 I'll go with them 4 82% 5 £250 on a fruit machine at our local snooker hall...although my most skilfull win was 10 homes on the coupon last day of the season 97/98 £180 for a 50p stake

And BTW Major boy - are you keeping scores on the percentage ratings?

I won £40 off a £10 bet for England to beat Pakistan in the first test match of last year. Got 4-1 after the first day was washed out. My bets are normally limited to about £1 a time unfortunately

Haven't got a clue what Murder sounds like of the top of my head. My biggest betting win was 14-1 on Real Madrid to win the European Cup in 2000 I got the bet on before the second leg at Old Trafford. Pity it was only a fiver, wor lass talked me oot of staking a Kenneth.

Biggest win as a percentage of income was in a 6th form common room game of cards. over £7.00 in copper and odd bits of silver,in a marathon game of about eight players one of whome thought I was blufing I had four 7's and couldn't believe about 5 players wanted to bet agianst me. That was about 3.5 times my weekly pocket money.

WHEN IT FINSISHES,ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THIS TRACK IS THE COVER! MOST MONEY I HAVE EVER WON £40 WHEN I WENT TO THE DOGS.STILL THERE. CHEERS ROCKET MICK ACTUALLY I LIKE THE DRUMMING ON IT AND BECAUSE THE ORDER DID THIS I DONT USUALLY LIKE TO SLAG IT OFF.

1. The Caligula sample ("Crows! Crows! Crows!.....I hate them!")

1- The dialogue samples and the relentless driving rhythm. 2- The drums being a rip off of "Atrocity Exhibition" and even - gasp - "Pornography" by The Cure 3- New Order's experimental side hardly ever gets much of a look in these days does it? Think of how their best instrumentals fitted this category: this one, "Don't Do It" and even "Ecstasy" and "Elegia". 4- 65% 5- About £70 on the horses once. Not that I do it very often. I think Charley won £200 on the Grand National once, but then it could have been my wishful imagination

Didn't get to this last week....

1. Best bits are the rhythms and the samples. Agree with janaki that it is the perfect lenghth.

2. Worst bits: none really

3. Sounded great when it came out and I was listening to the Cabs a lot at the time.

4. Rating 80%. Not a crucial single, but a good change of pace.

5. Not a really big gambler by nature, so I was being conservative as usual in Vegas a couple of years ago and won $100 at the slots, which was quickly spent that night in a round of drinks and lousy college basketball games at the sports book.

1. Best part: The "Crows Crows Crows! I hate them!"
2. Worst part: No remixes or covers of this song
3. Why I like it: Because remixing or covering would be difficult

Actually, Hubert, now that you mention it, it does sound very like 'Pornography'. Anyone any idea when Murder was actually written ? It sounds like it dates further back than 1984 - perhaps a leftover from 81/82 or was it a sly reworking of Homage ?

best bit--Hooky's bassline worst--monotinous at times why I like it--it's an angry song. Perhaps the first song that used samples from film

Did you have to carve any particular shape, or was it freeform ? I believe I could carve anything, but being a very young kid, I wasn't terribly creative. I think I carved a grotesque face of some kind and used inked-on hard boiled eggs for eyeballs.

1. Great intro, drumming right off lays out it's gonna be a hard ass track. Samples are fantastic!

2. Barney's guitar becomes too much, especially the repeated 2 notes, although the changes near the "Crows!" sample was nice.

3. Effictively creepy little toon, we need more instrumentals on the new LP.

I love this song, it's so different from NO that it doesn't sound like them at all. I wonder how it came about?

Best bit - the sampled lyrics "my mind is going, There is no question about it. & the adrenalyn rush it gives me Worst bit - the fact that it ends. Rate: 97% - I love it - right up there with HURT Money: Ir£10 on the lotto about 12 years ago - not great is it?
