i honestly think Oz will progress beyond the first. great manager, experienced European players, good goalkeepers to call on. Vidukes up front. Harry and Tim - - if both deemed fit. In the world cup there is always first round surprises, and Oz could be one them. Good luck cobbers!!!

Tough group, IMO. But beyond Brazil being a lock, I think any one of the other three can get through. Tough to gauge Oz since they play in Oceana. But I'm sure you know a lot more about football than me!

HA!...trying sitting through a whole Grand Prix with James allen commentatiing, there could be an 18 car pile up at 200 MPH and he'd not even miss a beat in telling us where ralf schumacher's wife's sister taks her poodle to get it's hair done. DOUBLY annoying as the other bloke is a walking racing oracle.

I wish you luck in getting rid of him, cos we've had none with ours.

A fucking cracker, Lahme's goal was sensational and Torsten Frings effort wasnae bad either. Good to see Paolo Wanchope get a couple past the despairing Lehman, Khan's face after the second goal was as smug as fuck :lol:

I won't bother with the third place game even if England are in it.Waste of time.I always think if you get knocked out in the semis you'd want to get the first flight home,not stick around a few days to play a meaningless match.

Watched the opening game earlier.Is this supposedly new light weight ball in any way partly responsible for the long shots flying in ???

Ian Robinson has been practising with the balls for a few months to try and get used to em.

after the germany match ESPN had a special report on soccer, and the only thing they talked about other than how good the U.S. Team is, was rooney's foot, nothing else. they had a report on the up and coming players and one of them was Landon Donovan, whom they said is about to break out after being player of the tournament at the 1999!?!?!?! youth cup. so 7 years later and he is about to break out?

im no expert, in fact far from it in, but they just totally ruin the game here, its so disrespectful how they push the U.S. Team like they are on the cusp of winning the world cup. once the u.s. are out they will only report on hooliganisn and racism, like they always do

well, first day and not many surprises. just 2 things. maybe i was expecting a little more of Poland, but now i know it´s a VERY weak team! and another thing is Germany´s defense, how many shoots did Costa Rica make? 3? and 2 goals? what will happen when Germany faces a good team!?!?!?!? :nuts:

Germany were very poor defensively, but impressive at long range shooting. On the whole, not too good, though, but they have a history of starting slowly.

Costa Rica: Really expected more from them, although Paulo Wanchope is still very classy.

Poland: feckin rubbish. Like rabbits in headlights, again.

Ecuador: played well against a rubbish team, but did not show any signs they can go further. Still slow and sluggish at low altitude. Some good defending though.

Overall. England and prolly Sweden have nothing to fear, right now.

Sweden have nothing to fear, right now.

Sweden is out their regular keeper Isaksson after he took a ball straight in the face and ended with a mild concussion. Still very strong with Ibrahimovic and Henrik Larsson.

Looking like Gerrard is out for the Paraugy game.... Carrick should come in for the game logically,with a forced tinker about in the midfield formation.But Sven is so sweet on that fuck up Hargreaves.If Hargreaves is an International player,then I'm a Jetstream lover.. He can't tackle,head,and only gives stray passes, with the occassional hospital ball to an unlucky team-mate.terrible player for England.Fingers crossed its Carrick.Man U have bid £10M for Carrick today reportedly.

That's why I've taken the next week and a half off (I've got tons of vacation stocked up). Watch football all morning from 6 am, then fcuk around the valley for the rest of the day.

At least the hours are a lot more reasonable to those of us here in the West this time....the match v. Portugal in 2002 started at something like 1:45 a.m. here. Still one of the top sporting events I've seen though, the lack of sleep was well worth it. :nod:

Stevvie is in, last i heard. Trained today, no problems. Unless he slipped on the soap in the shower.
