So you're saying Materazzi shouldn't talk to ZZ because he's such a super star ??

What shite. Maybe he shouldn't be allowed to takle him either, in case ZZ gets his socks muddy :\ohwell:

It's part of the game. Materazzi won the battle by getting ZZ to react and then he won the war too by picking up a winners medal.

Like I say, it's part of the game. Of all games. It happens in cricket for gods sake, supposedly the sport of gentlemen.

Ian Botham comes to the wicket and is welcomed by Aussie bowler, Rod Marsh with the immortal words: “So, Ian how’s your wife and my kids?"

Did Botham smack him round the head with his bat ?? No, he smacked his bowling around and made 100.

A witty repost shuts the other guy up just as well...

Aussie bowler, Glenn McGrath says to Zimbabwean Eddo Brandes, “Hey Eddo, why are you so F*ckng Fat?” And Brandes replied, “Because everytime I F*ck your mother, she gives me a biscuit” Having the rest of his own team laughing at him rather put McGrath off his line and length.

I guess the wittiest repartee Zizu could think of was a head butt. :nonono:

ok call an algerian a terrorist or his mother and see how does he feel

The Paris-based anti-racism advocacy group SOS-Racism issued a statement Monday quoting "several very well informed sources from the world of football" as saying Materazzi called Zidane a "dirty terrorist." It demanded that FIFA investigate and take any appropriate action.

FIFA, which reviews all red cards at the World Cup, would not comment on the specifics.

I have to agree with DL here. Though what Materazzi did was underhanded and despicable it is, unfortunately, part of the game. ZZ did exactly what Materazzi wanted him to! ZZ should have risen above it. Lots of players get racist taunts, but they don't all go headbutting opponents (yes, a bit of a dive by Materazzi, I imagine). Perhaps a second ref would make nonsense like Materazzi's easier to catch and punish.

part of the game? of a cricket game? of a soccer everysaturday game? of a game for the world cup final? of a game that more than a billion people watch? to an everyday player? to the best european player for some years? to an algerian? to a member of unicef? after what happened in us-london-madrid?

Sorry to bung an edit in here, but Brandes actually said "wife" rather than "mother". This was a week after McGrath's wife had been diagnosed with breast cancer. I'd have nutted him if it had been me.

I didn't say Materazzi should get a Nobel Peace Award. I did say it was despicable. However, it was also apparently a smart thing. He tricked Zizzu into getting ejected. Nobody ever said life or football was fair.

By the way, I think that maybe part of the reason Materazzi did say whatever he said is because he's aware of ZZ's past history, and that he was liable to get himself ejected. He has done so several times before. He's been sent off 14 times in his career, including one previous headbutt for club and also for stomping on a Saudi Arabian player in the 1998 World Cup.

Apparently. It's a shame that sort of thing wins World Cups. :nonono:

you also said its part of the game. zizou also can't win an oscar cause his reaction is not an example for young fans. life and soccer are not fair for sure but infront of over a billion of people? where is fifa? italians are trying to clean up their league and there is a player that he can do whatever he likes outside their borders.my country banned from uefa (and i'm really happy for that)until the day that we have a new athletic law. i'm still thinking of materazzi's mother. what kind of behavior she teached him when he was a kid?

Probably Materazzi's mates rather than his mum are to blame for that behavior.

Quote from Materazzi:

'I certainly did not call him a terrorist: I'm ignorant, I don't even know exactly what an Islamic terrorist is ... I also certainly didn't say anything about Zidane's mother: for me, a mother is sacrosanct.'

He doesn't know what a terrorist is?? :confused2: :wtf: How full of shit can this guy be?

Apparently, his mom died when he was 14. I'm sure he said something nasty, probably racist, but aside from "Va Fanculo!" (Up your ass!), I'm not convinced that even lip-readers can tell what was actually said with absolute accuracy.

I hate to break it to you, but that's rather racist on your part.

I guess it's now "Sticks and stones and headbutts".

What I said! It was only a little bit "Trash-Talk" and very effective. It was very silly from ZZ. He had say or do nothing in this situation. It would be to think, to foul this italian 5 Minutes later or so.

Anyone who's ever played the game will tell you that the easiest thing for Zidane to do was to just leave a foot in during the next challenge between them. Maybe he knew that by such a big reaction in such a high-profile game, there would be an enquiry and FIFA would find out what had been said, and would be able to do something about it. Hard to see a headbutter as a martyr, but maybe?

20:00 CET Canal+ ZZ will explain everything about this event.

Whatever ZZ says, I'm sure Materazzi will adamantly deny it. He said she said, so to speak...

I think you're over estimating Zidane's inteligance there, Tim.

True, but Materazzi's a thug too. An Italian senator even had said that he shouldn't be on the team due to his overly physical style.
