Peter Saville designed skateboards in LA

Supreme changes its clothes with the seasons. Over the summer, T-shirts and skateboard decks designed for Supreme by Peter Saville flew off the shelves — one set was modeled after the artwork for Joy Division’s debut album, Unknown Pleasures; another set featured artwork from one of New Order’s EPs. You’ll have to search eBay to get them now. This season’s hot items are authentic remakes of vintage, high- and low-top Vans’ skate shoes. Vans did them exclusively for Supreme, so get ’em while you can.

Belfast Telegraph's review of Singles

NEW ORDER Singles (london) ***** A work of art, a thing of beauty, a piece of genius ... old New Order never did do 'ordinary'. And as this latest 'best of' compilation illustrates perfectly, New Order had few peers in pop. Singles traces their steps from playthings of bedroom-based students to global pop domination. And it boasts a raft of masterpieces including two versions of Blue Monday, the biggest-selling 12 inch single of all time and the stunning Temptation. Each track easily stands the test of time. In Barney Sumner, New Order were blessed with a fine songwriter of coolly penetrating melody - and in Peter Hooky Hook, a bass player extraordinaire. Compelling dancefloor beats sit alongside perfect electronic synth pop and techno beats. Quirky lyrics mix easily with ridiculously catchy riffs. Like their former selves as Joy Division, they can also be moodily introspective - but importantly never dull. There will be criticism - and rightly so - why the world needs Singles given the fact that Substance, The Best of New Order, The Rest of New Order and a four-CD retro box are already on the shelves. However, it is impossible when judging solely the music on display, not to offer anything other than the highest praise possible. Among the gems are the lush Perfect Kiss - you know the one where the sounds pass from speaker to speaker before erupting into one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever made. The inclusion of Ceremony - the last thing Joy Division wrote together just before Ian Curtis' death - is a poignant reminder of the way things were. Fine Time and World In Motion, the best footie song ever written, helps give this album a very definite five-star rating.

Control to be shot in early 2006

Rock photographer and music video director Anton Corbijn is preparing for an early 2006 shoot for his first feature film, tentatively titled Control, about the life of the late Joy Division singer Ian Curtis. Producers Orian Williams and Todd Eckert of US-based Claraflora first announced the project in January and Corbijn tells ScreenDaily.com that they are currently nailing down financing and starting the casting process. Corbijn expects to shoot Control for up to two months in early 2006 in Manchester, Macclesfield, and surrounding areas. Factory Records founder Tony Wilson, himself a mythical figure in the Manchester music scene (as captured in Michael Winterbottom’s 24-Hour Party People), will co-produce as will Ian Curtis’s widow, Deborah Curtis.

NME's review of "Singles" - 9/10

Two discs of NME-approved Godlike Genius Another 'Best Of'? Are they taking the piss or what? Currently, New Order have 'Substance', 'The Best Of New Order', 'The Rest Of New Order', the four-CD 'Retro' box-set and an American import called 'International' all serving the needs of casual fans with their varying track selections. So with this latest addition, it seems that the Manc legends are not just taking the piss but bottling it up and selling it on as 'salt-fortified' apple juice. However, this is music that can never leave you feeling ripped off and, given that 'Singles' brings together every New Order 45 to date, it's the only compilation that can claim to be truly comprehensive.
