As for Gagne V. Mariano, I meant post-season. Let's see you argue with THAT! :p Gagne would be the best postseason closer if the dodgers could get some hits; c'mon they had the best team ERA by far this year, and they failed to make the playoffs. Remaining a dodger fan is hard, depressing work.

CONGRATS to the Fish! :jump2: and to the Yanks :moon: McKeon did an awesome job, and Beckett pitched a brilliant game, and IRod was brilliant through the playoffs. I surely hope this Marlin team can stick together.

I would not want to be in any way associated with the Yankees organization this morning; you can almost hear George getting the guillotine ready. I will make the following predictions:

Boone, Johnson, and Pettitte will be traded or let go.

Clemens will stay true to his word, while Wells will probably start looking for a better place to hang his head.

Zimmer's already announced he's leaving, Stottlemyre will follow suit, and Torre will be around for at least one more season before Steinbrenner axes him.

Jeter will have to look over his shoulder, but I doubt he'll get cut.

Matsui and Giambi will stick around, if only because they've embarrassed the team enough.

As for the Marlins:

IRod would (I hope) realize how fragile the "Marlins fan base" is (all two of 'em) and decide to stick around. if not, it's his loss.

Trader Jack will retire to the front office after next year, especially if the Marlins win again or put up a good showing.

All the rookies this year (Willis and the other guys whose names I can't recall) will improve, with Beckett and Willis and Penney as the best rotation in baseball.

...and the people of Miami still won't give a shit about their team :D

Miami will continue to only care about their Dolphins that always choke by the end of the year.

Yes indeed, congrats are in order for the Fish, clutch pitching by Mr. Beckett, superb stuff

Though I rooted for NY, I can't feel bad, especially for Pudge and Jack McKeon and all of the youngsters who truly proved the second half of the season was no fluke at all, and gave hope to most of the teams in MLB, all of 'em, that is, except for Detroit, Boston and Chicago ;)

At least we know there won't be a fire sale this year, right?

the marlin fans wont give a shit until they are in the playoffs again. i just hope the marlins are not a one-hit wonder like the angels were. josh bekett is god of baseball. i hated him when he pitched against the cubs but as soon as i heard he was starting game 6, i knew it was over. is it true marlins closer something uriba already filed for free-aganecy a day after winning the world series? thats F@#^$ up. comgratulations marlins! this was one of the best post seasons ive ever watched.

If the only person the Fish lose is Ugueth Urbina, they would be rather lucky, for Ooghie screwed up in the playoffs; he did get one iwn, but he did blow two saves.
