How long does your journey to work take?

15 minutes by car, 20 minutes by bicycle.

It takes me 55 mins to drive 13 miles. Unfortunately, the limited public transport here in L.A. sucks and would be completely out of the way and take longer. I miss living in a city where the public transport works.

3 buses to work- 55 mins

And then off to school 30min ferry 45 min train

1hr 15mins

Work?

Well...

My commute right now takes 50 minutes. 20 minutes to walk to a shuttle stop, 30 minutes for the shuttle ride. During the summer, when the shuttle isn't running, that's 20 minutes to get to the bus stop, for a total commute time of 1.5 - 2 hours.

All to go a distance that takes 10-15 minutes by car.

20mins when Miss Hac is off school, 40 when she is there.

5-7 minutes, depending on traffic lights.

somedays i spend about 3 hours on the road. the bus service here is irritating, but its better than the stressful driving conditions.

i've recently stopped listening to music on the bus because i have to turn my music up so darned loud to hear anything over the din of the buses, chatting etc.

5 minute walk. Hilariously, I was asked at my recent interview in Portsmouth if I was willing to relocate.

"Naaah," I said, "I'll just commute from Aberdeen".

2 minutes to drive, a 15 minute walk, a very close commute indeed. Only drive when the weather's really bad, or when I go to work at 4 a.m.

Felt sorry for my brother who lives in Burbank (practically next door to April!) and has to drive a couple of days a week to work in the Santa Barbara airport.

Traffic lights and inability to commando sidewalks and bike trails make the bike almost as fast. But then again it takes 10 minutes to change in to business clothing if I bike.

Over the summer I was on the Train: 15 mins to work, but a 10 min walk at one end. There were lots of people making 3 hours+ in a car each day. Ireland is a very poorly planned country - and as a result the quality of life for a large amount of people here is terrible, not to mention that we are leaving ourselves open to the oil market and fucking the environment. Very sad.

No but it's more hassle to mess about locking it up and getting it in and out of the house, than to just walk round.

If I work late I can take off about 5 minutes on the bike ride by ignoring all the red lights

I have about a 15 minute walk to the station and then it's about 10 minutes on the Metro. It's usually an additional 10 minutes spent waiting for one to turn up though because they're so unreliable. Once I pass my driving test it'll be so much quicker for me.
