A cozy thread dedicated to those who'd rather figure out the function of the green membrane buttons on a DX-7 than hit on Lacy/Helen.

well, then.... SX3 does import OMF's BTW (not bad...eh...STIL off topic)

I thought we covered this, or do we have to worked out the best brand of fire axe? Maybe an fb01 on a stick would sound better.

Anyway....I'm still allowed to hit on Jemma right?

Hitting on Missy Jem is highly encouraged (if you're single, that is). Just don't start bringing her to band practice or there's going to be trouble.

Hey man don't diss my chick!!!!

(remembers woman at practice slowly....)

Actually, yeah good plan :)

How about updating that website, son?

I think about that at least once a week, the html editor I used for it oringally is still installed, I have no better things in my life to do....yet still I don;t do it.

Not much to update it with except to maybe bother putting some links to tunes.

Hmmm...

checks watch

I wonder where everyone is?

I was certain that topic header would attract, like, all the smokin' babes.

Perhaps Swollen Nutsack Soul Squadron should challenge Barney's Angels to a football game.

Too right, we would. I was goal scorer extraordinaire at school. Oh, shit. It was netball

How's your netball Steve? Just warning you, that I could have played at county level, but that needed extra dedication from me and I just couldn't be arsed :D Well, actually, the netball county 'scout' came along to our school to watch a few of us and I got into a bit of a fight with the goal defender. Nasty bitch she was. She elbowed me a few times, so in the end, I lost my patience and just lamped her one.

My netball playing career for Staffordshire was over before it had even started

I'm just here because of the promise of learning more about the DX7/technicals overall and the thread title was absolutely interesting.

Were I a cat, curiousity would have already killed me.

I think GNU reckons I was holding out on him the last time we discussed the evil one. Tell you what tho, I know a guy who can actually program a DX21 AND make it sound good ( like a theremin...surely an instrument you know msh)

I'm absolutely in the same boat as GNU, you name a synth and i'll tell you how it works, unless it sayd Yamaha on it in which case the answer is likely to be "is it not enough that it DOES work?"

SNSS beats the name I came up for the local punk band I "managed" for half a year (that never recorded anything or performed live except for practicing twice to Bob Marley tracks in the drummer's loft) "The Rape Whistles".

My parents got me the DX100 when I was growing up (that's the synth I talked about on another thread.. believe it was the Hook interview one)... they thought that was just a keyboard.. something I could mess around on and learn piano.

 God I hated that thing. I was just a kid, and trying to figure out the programming nearly have me grey hair! These days, I wish I still had it just for nostalgia's sake... but lately I've got my eye on one of those flashy Korg Triton's that I fell in love with a number of years ago.

I almost bought one of those, but the big dick who owned the store (his name was "Big Dick") wouldn't let me touch it and instead played some stupid bird sound effects on it. And then he wanted some crazy amount, even though the thing was years out of date already.

No DX100s in my closet.

I nearly bought one as well (fuck me this is the bullet dodger's club) But got the CZ3000 instead :D smart choice.

I do perve a bit over the Triton, and I liked the Trinity....the further they get from the M1 the better. Firstly cos of the 128 identical pathces on it, and secondly because I reckon they hired in some ex yamaha guys for the OS.

It's the monolith from 2001 big, black and utterly impenetrable.

The only way to get it to sound genuinely great is to get all 8 parts stacked with both fx units going.

It's a bit sad seeing old synths tossed out in garage sales. I saw a number of DX's at a annual tag sale here in town, and if it weren't for discontinued parts, "speaker's wonky there", or gobs of unknown matter sticking up a key, I'd have been nabbing them when I saw them.

Need to start some sort of synth recycling service.

Don't go to msh's website, Mr. Campbell, whatever you do.

I'm pretty perverted when it comes to music shops - owners kick me out because I spend hours fondling a miniMoog they've got on loan, or going around to each setup and pressing buttons and making things go beep. Some women like to shop for clothing, I like to shop for big, hulking, massively obnoxious electronics.

The Triton was the first workstation I've seen and actually hugged and asked it to marry me. Friends don't go to shops with me anymore due to that.

and I thought I was an odd one!

I don't see the need for any such poll.

Good Lord what a vision of lovliness.

However, I was dissappointed as I was expectig to see "machine rescue" or something :(

Did I miss a meeting where the laws of the universe got changed? Why are the women on this site utterly unlike those in the big room outside by house? Bangor is not full of hilarious raven haired loonies or delectable machine-torturers, or wild siberian cricketers.

My life sucks.
