For a cigarette............. these patches are useless; I've tried a lighter, matches, the hob, candles everything and they just won't light!!!

   This is just SOOOO SOOOOOO difficult:cry: If anyone disagrees with me, - well, just don't OK:angry:

I keep rubbing this patch on my arm (like it is really going to make a difference........stupid cow....); anyway, I have resorted to typing the kids homework for them, cleaning anything that stands still long enough, and anything that doesn't and here is the ultimate........listening to Elvis Presley 'take it away James'.............and what's more, singing along in a way only Elvis does............. my right arms killing me from all the swinging and every scarf I possess is in next doors garden and I've started curling my lip - that may be down to next doors Rotweiller though, I can't blame Elvis entirely for that.

I've also taken to pretending I'm Marc Bolan in the early days to the point I have stuck my finger into a live socket to see what happens to my hair ------ it worked! Only difference is, I didn't ignore John Peel.

Is that what happens after 25 years smoking? Heart palpations, aching limbs, erratic behaviour, a little incy wincy bit of moodiness and that was BEFORE I tried to stop. Everyone's full of great advice like;

Just wait till tomorrow........... you'll feel ever so much better.........

yeah? Look at me, I'm not you!

I went cold turkey last time i gave up (for about 3 years, before you start)!

I got hammered new years eve and smoked 20 in one go. Now feel sick just thinking about them. I'm ok cos i never smoke at home, but i'm dreading my first outing to the pub!

Good luck

How's it going?

Hang in there, you can do it. I quit several times before it really woked though.

But in a way, I'm very happy that I managed. But still miss it. The trick is that never give it a try again. Not even 1 cig. I know that if I take 1 cig, I'm back smoking again. And I really don't want to do that.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your support - especially BA. Appreciate it, though I try not to look hard and cool - it didn't work when I was 14, so it sure as hell won't now!:D

A day in the life on a non-smoker - god, it's weird and frankly, I'd rather give birth to triplets without any pain relief than go through this trauma! :banghead: Surprisingly, the mornings haven't been as bad as I thought - it's the evenings - they're terrible - you are right Bonzette, the alcohol is making it worse - so, upon your advice, I will refrain from drinking as well as smoking in Manchester. OK everyone?

Right have a nice night everyone......off the the gym...... Not.

:abovelol: Oh, Wino! Stick with it. I quit years back. Don't know whether it's good or not but sometimes, when i drink an depending on mood, i have a ciggarette, or pack, but i never go back to smoking.:\ohwell: It's been months since i last had one. Liar- it was New Years- shame on me

I lasted 3 weeks the last time I tried it....then somone stuck a double dipped strawberry down my neck and within 2 hours I smoked again.

Since I took up rollies, I find I can go far longer without a smoke, sometimes a whole day if there is plenty of interesting shit to do.

I'm having a Benson now.

My missus is 3 weeks on the patches and doing really well. I gave up over 2 years ago without so much as a patch, just stopped one day and that was it. It can be done.

I know it can be done........but it's more a question of 'can I do it; (Between you and I - I don't really WANT to, but those around me are putting severe pressure on me.....they'll be asking me to stop drinking soon.........):(
