Might as well stick it on here too!....

I never visit Digital Republic anymore cos there's nothing of any interest being said and it seems to be all about THE NEW ORDER CUP whatever the hell that is. Behind Closed Doors is marginally better when it's not being used as a substitute to MSN Messenger by about 6 individuals who I'd never even heard of up until six months ago. If you wanna chat among yourselves get a room! The rest of us aren't interested.

And what about folk that feel the need to put their tuppence worth in on every thread even when they've clearly got bollocks all to contribute?!!! There's rarely been a week I've not visited these forums since mid 2001 and I still aint reached a thousand posts. Quality, not quantity people.

I don't like to be the one to start the annual "these forums have gone to the dogs" thread but really....

but I agree with you :thumb:

My theory:

It's not the forums but the internet itself. 11 years ago, when there were few and solidly "interesting" people online who had to fight through 14.4 or less connections just to post something on a timed line - it seemed so valuable and precious and neat.

Fast forward to (generalized) everyone who can follow rudimentary instructions having a broadband line to the whole deal and every thought and opinion is aired.

Everything suddenly becomes "boring". People complain about the mailing lists, people complain about the newsgroups, people find the same faults in the forums. Eventually - you get to the point where there's next to nothing new to talk about. Then things go insane, and then something of worth happens to spark interest again.

That's what I figure BCD really is - the place to play until the main interest does something to spark up conversation again. Imagine how we'd have all acted were we in the 80s with this here technology connecting us. We'd have gone insane just as we do here. Unless the Order were doing something absolutely new every other day, we'd fall into the same thing that has bothered you.

Got any ideas on topics you'd like to discuss?

Ah, the long overdue and sweet, sweet sound of a nail being struck firmly and squarely on the head.

Plonk!

It's not a question of naming names. I'm making an observation not looking for confrontation. There's some great debates and funny as feck topics which still crop up here from time to time but the vast majority is dull and dominated by a few individuals treating it like their own private social club. I don't need to name them, it's obvious to even the most infrequent visitor who they are!

I rather thought this was an online "community". I'll admit that endless "you've got mail" threads get tedious.....but this IS meant to be a little more than a messageboard.

maybe we should chage the name of the site's album to "random unrelated folks"

Now with a bit of luck Graeme, now you'll get your own thread slagging you off, much like i did! You'll also get called all the names under the sun, have false accusations made up, and generally be vilified by a load of people you dont really like anyway!

A community is INCLUSIVE not EXCLUSIVE. Something this site has managed to avoid becoming in the five years I've been visiting is a "clique". It seems to be going a bit that way now though.

Oh and while we're at it, can we have a complete ban on Tesco threads? It's all getting very

And yet you post an accusational thread like this.

And yes I AM taking it to mean I'm one of those you have a problem with since you mention posting frequency and I've certainly come in for abuse for that before.

A reasonable point to make Glas, but be more specific as it just sounds like you are having a bad day.

Could be healthy for the board to have a discussion about this. Maybe there is too much dross? I dunno. A cracker for the lurkers anyway.

Although we dont need any more shit stirrers coming on hiding behind your back with a snide 'agreement'. Lame.

Floors open fellas..

Choose your weapons.

I'm off to the pub to watch the footy now, only posted this for some light entertainment for when I get home

there's hardly been any Tescos threads lately and what kind of threads do you want ,Glas Vegas? New Order threads? well that's what Digital Republic and Ceremony are for ,duhh!!!

You want political threads? well they pop up on here quite often actually and last for fcuckin weeks.

oh , you don't want political threads? so what do you want exactly??

and surely the reason there isn't many new threads on Dig Rep is possibly because everyone knows everything about New Order and has nothing left to ask? Everything ahs been discussed a thousand times. What do you want ? another question about what 1963 is about??

It's the thaw from winter, slows down the mental processes. Thus the "what I'm eating right now" threads and "Top Five Top Five Threads" because intellectually speaking, that's all we frequent and annoyingly opinionated visitors can manage right now.

Just you wait til summer, this place will be exciting and fun again. By the way, I had a delicious ham sandwich... :p

all in - everybody in. differnt time zones. different opinions. hopefully with a crazy borderline obsession and devotion to Joy division then New Order then.. March-minus six = September when anybody not lucky enough to be born in the UK got word that New Order hadn't weLL. stopped. finished for good. gone. trying to get any decent sport news is another issue. Factory music and totally biased sport news is an alchemy that isn't matched anywhere. and can be found here. if people want to talk about trainers . so. this site is 24 hr escape.
