Yes but aside from one or two posts...it IS on it's own forum...something clockwork seems to have missed.

If he wants to piss all over whatever talents we have between us, that's fine...although I'd love to hear what instruments he plays. But he's really smacking Wen and Nic in the gob for all the work they've put in.

Maybe he's just pissed off cos Community2 is the only reason I aint got the fuck out of where I aint wanted yet.

Although I'll continue to vote and take an interest in proceedings, this is the bit that concerns me too. I don't recognise many of the entrants at all from these forums. So if the intention is to pump out a CD of semi-professional covers from around the world, then so be it. But if it's intended to be truly a NOOL Community project then you'd question the selection criteria.

I just can't imagine we'll get to hear Rocket Mick banging out Blue Monday with KFC drumstick and empty bucket.

:\pimp3:

Shows how much attention you have been paying old chap. :D

there ARE no selection criteria...it's a vote...you can therefor vote for the people you know are part of these fora.

Personally I think it's awful how community has pushed all the important news of new Order's busy schedule into the background....oh wait..... they're doing sod all again.

And more's the pity, Mick unquestionably being our very own Mo Tucker! My own contribution to this whole thing will be the same as last time - ignore it until it's finished and then buy the bloody thing and give it a few spins: I think that's a valid contribution myself. I have no aspirations to be, or delusions of being, 'talented' in any way, shape or form. And strangely enough, that doesn't bother me at all.

I think you'll find that the talents of the vast majority of C2 contestants are neither an aspiration NOR a delusion, most of them are far better than NO from an objective musicological point of view.

From 'an objective musicological point of view' that's just bollocks.

New Order wrote these songs, which immediately gives them the Heads Up over anyone who's just covering them.

don't mean that....lots of these people can actually play and sing.....which is more than for instance ...barney can manage with any degree of regularity...FFS he can't even read his own words off a machine designed for politicians and tv presenters.

I take your point regarding the songwriting of course, no fucker else wrote those wonderful tunes. And before anyone says anything about "if you don't like NO...." The fact is, I like em just the way they are.....and in a lot of ways, it's the fact that they are clearly not trained musicians, that renders them such an inspiration to the rest of us.

As Hooky said of the Pistols, so everyone from a nobody like me, to the Cheimical Bros or Orbital, may well have said of New Order...."they can do it, we can fookin well do it too".

And truly there are some arrangements that I've heard on the podcasts, that are quite superb, which while they retain the original song, have taken it to places that the array of sad mainstream producers NO keep getting saddled with couldn't even see with a telescope.

In which case they should be putting all that creative skill into um.....creating! Like, you know, something that's their's. It's a crying shame that these people (more musically capable than NO mind) have been overlooked by the general public for so long.....

Fair play and good luck to all contributors but to come away with satements like the above is just nonsense.

really, so you consider NO among the finest players on Earth...Hooky is better then Pasorias or Wooten?

And to judge music's quality by it's popularity is a great;y surprsing thing around here.....NO are a TOTALLY unknown band to most people, yet they are without doubt amazing musicians.

This thread is just "cunts are us"

First it's people saying too much, then it's people who don;t say enough being involved in some waste of time competition.

So...those who slag community.....you have listenned to all the podcasts full of sad no hopers have you. Cos you know...slagging stuff you;ve never heard off would certainly be the trait of a dribbling spastic.

fuck off.

PS..in what way is a cover version uncreative?

Are New Order losers when they play covers?

Nobody's slagging off the contributors. I believe I wished them all good luck. I was merely slagging another of your dumb ass comments. Now away and have a wee lie down. You'll kill yorself with all that stress.

No-one's slagging anyone off. I just said I don't have any particular interest in the project.

Just like the vast MAJORITY of people who are covering New Order on Community appear to have no particular interest in coming on here and talking about New Order, in general. I made the point that I haven't got a clue who most of these people are.

i've sang along to 'fade into you' numerous times and i still haven't turned into hope sandoval, goddamn it; ditto with 'heal it up' and johnette napolitano. so instead i enjoy the musical talents of others which, i believe, are quite apparent on the community project.

i many not have heard of most of the people whose songs appear on the album, but that's quite all right with me. many are lurkers and a few might join just to get their song on the CD. i really don't care, as long as it's a decent (and preferably unique) rendering of a NO song. i enjoyed most of the songs on the first community project and i'm looking forward to see what people come up with this time around.

You may not be alagging anyone off, and you may have made your point well, ( i mean I've had a few words about rent-a-logins entering) the same cannot be said of everyone.

To imply that the entrants are ALL, unworthy of being signed (because yes as we all know record company A+R men are the epitome of good taste and judgement, and if factory hadn't been there NO would have done well on PWL), or that covering a song is not an act of musical creation, is moronic to say the very least.

To suggest that it is an impoosibilty that any of the 100+entrants is a better player or singer than the members of NO, is to imply that New Order are respected virtuoso players on their chosen instrument, needles to say, they are not....they do what they do and they do it well, but could hooky take a gig as a free jazz bassist? Could Barney play classical guitar pieces? could they fuck!

And this isnt even about SNSS, we ARE just twats, in the same mode as NO, we can't hold a gig together, and we generally don't care as long as fun is had on both sides of the stage....but there are people entering this competition who ARE properly talented and who do not deserve to be brushed off as "deluded" or "wannabes" or as some sort of cast off from the amazingly tasteful music industry. (while we're here...NEWSFLASH...not everyone who makes music WANTS to get fucked over and get paid a penny a tune).

I apologize for losing my temper above, but a couple of fokls are doing that "having not heard any of this stuff, I can say it's all bollox" thing and it's actually making me truly, properly raging.

And I'm sorry to hear Dr F thinks he has no talent....it strikes me that a man who lectures in college should have some talent for education, I pity his students if he's really as talentless as stated.

Steve, I make it a rule of thumb to keep my ego as small as possible. I consider modesty to be a virtue, I'm afraid. I said I have no delusions of being talented; I wasn't implying that anyone else was "delusional" or "talentless".

Paranoid? Persecution complex? NOOL's the place for you!!

Right.....

Liam, I've met Mr Owens and he's an extremely pleasant chap. So were you oddly enough....the difference is, he comes accross that way online, I cannot recall a single post of his in which he pre-empively attacked anyone, nor responded to an attack with downright nastiness, as you are often prone to do. (and yes, I'm fully aware I can be a right nasty prick too)

Dr Fradley, the implication was there, but even if it weren't, and it were merely a persecution complex, for the record, it's one transferred to a third party, because I hold no illusions of being able to sing or play...my ego lies in my abilities as a techical creative, and it's a small ego because such skills tat I hae in that direction, over and above those of the average person, were half there when I was born and half created by Dr Who (no really), I would be a twat indeed to take too much credit for either. My own entry may well be pish, and you are free to call it so......but blanket statements were made sugesting that what was being offered was somehow "floor scrapings". I realise i took it a bit bad...but seriously.....we are New Order fans, we should each of us know that a record deal or a string of No1's is not the measure of worth it can appear. Oh and the thing about "no talent for teaching"...that was open ended, compliment (you must hae SOME talents) or insult (wtf are you doing teaching then?).

in general..

I have no problem in people not being interested in the project, no problem whatsoever. I do have a problem with judgements, however veiled, being made on a huge number of talented people, sound unheard.

And I would also urge anyone with a little bandwidth to grab the podcasts.....even if you seriously can't be arsed to get into the voting and all that gubbins....click a coupla links in the podcast thread to download nice mp3's...or if you have the technology, use the single link to the actual podcast feed. I'm not saying this as in "if you fuckers only listened you'd see i'm right and you're wrong", not in the slightest....i'm saying it as in "serisouly, you're missing some breathtakingly good music, and as New Order fans you really should not miss some of it" i you want to give anything the slightest go....try the current Your Silent Face Off (hehehe)....because I tell you what...i'm fucked if i know which is best, or more accurately which one isn't.

Community really is the only remotely worthy ( and I'm sure even it's greatest detractors admit that) thing going on here right now....soon no doubt NO will give us more to talk about...until then it's either community2..or just calling each other names.

I am sorry for getting all wound up again....but as I said pages back.....this is not some random URL..I credit each person here with the taste and discression appropriate to a person who gets NO. People have said things to me a billion times worse on Linux newsgroups and the worlds worst F1 forum, and I laughed it off....not so here...I cannot dismiss any single person here as a clueless idiot despite what I may say, so the opinions I hear here, sink in.

maybe it isn't possible to simply focus on writing and producing originaL music. JD/ NO is priceless.

Community 2-is about diversity and exposure. have to listen then maybe vote to decide what you hope to see on a disc.. it is a magnet and has just attracted a-lot of attention. the New Order focus shows a certain-brilliant taste. especially if arsed enough to work out & kick out a complete cover. ![](http://<a href=)http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/5103/band33gl.jpg" class="max-w-full" alt="" loading="lazy" />

Steve, you are also, basically, the man who railroaded everyone into voting for Manchester for NOOL Day.

An event which - if it goes ahead - you won't even be attending.

What's next week's big campaign gonna be?!

That's a touch unfair Al I was not the only voice for Manchester, it IS a cheaper place to do something like that, and my non attendance is not my choice. I'd have thought that were your statemnt to be 100% accurate, there was still lots of time to re-evaluate a location in absence of my svengali like influence over NOOLkind, but bloody hell man, at last count find a free venue in Manc was hard enough, never mind looking at pay-to-play-town. I know I took a coupla cracks at London, but really the above was what concerned me....that and the spiritual connection with Manchester obviously.

Besides I was only trying to say you may really be missing out on some stuff you may find you were glad to hear.....hell my own nonsense is WEEKS from being heard I think.
