If anyone on here had any proper friends, they could put them on an email distribution list and shoot the shit all day, speaking whatever bollocks they want to. That way they would know that everyone who reads it will, for the most part, appreciate it.

What I'm referring to now is the mass creation of meaningless threads dominating proceedings here at the expense of all else. Don't think I can be accused of that. Sure you don't have to read them but the sheer bulk of them often ends up wiping out the cool stuff.

Well put, DC. The highwaymen of old hijacked a few threads and got slated for it, mostly by people who don't come here any more anyway. As gentlemen, we pretty much stopped it, out of respect for others. And I miss the King too, although occasionally recreate those fine days by the medium of email. Lets face it, our highwaymanship was a small part of the posting we did back then. There was loads of interesting, band related stuff too. Like P's brilliant work on Homer.
These new 'uns don't seem to give a fuck what anyone thinks. no respect at all. Still, at least it's mutual.
Did you get yerself sorted with 12x12, by the way? The covers are like paper, so will definatley get knackered in the mail if posted individually. Mine even got a bit creased in the bag on the way home. This was a shame, especially as I was so careful to choose the best ones in the shop. I'm pretty sure it's a Saville-Free cover job. That mark of quality is missing.
My offer stands if you want me to get some from the shops and post them over?

in BA's defence that was a thread, not direct e-mails. and he apologised. we're not all cunts...only half of us are.

Think the other point of difference being that much of the 'tangental extrapolation' of the day was limited to a few threads, often our own. A small price to pay for the funniest commentary this site has seen from one regular. But of course that's just my humble opinion.

Also: Am I the only one who doesn't give a damn about community??? Tell me there are some more noolies out there who feel the same. If I want to listen to NewOrder, Ill listen to NewOrder - not RAM or anyone else. Community is a nice idea, but it should be kept to its own forum.

thought the same thing when first hearing about Community- 1. but then hearing the tunes. and what has gone into them. maybe lighten up and enjoy. anyone who has the moxy and shine to get a song together then stick it out gets a huge whack of respect. ne-ne ne do, do - why can't we be like we were yesterday.

It would be harsh of me to say I don't give a damn about said project but I'll admit it's not really my bag when all is said and done.
The only contributions I'm remotely interested in hearing are of those of people I genuinely know, as people. Which, in Community, appears to be a very small percentage as things go. It's not even as if the majority of the contributions are even from people who appear to post here.
Fair play to them all, but it just isn't me.

Although I'll continue to vote and take an interest in proceedings, this is the bit that concerns me too. I don't recognise many of the entrants at all from these forums. So if the intention is to pump out a CD of semi-professional covers from around the world, then so be it. But if it's intended to be truly a NOOL Community project then you'd question the selection criteria.
I just can't imagine we'll get to hear Rocket Mick banging out Blue Monday with KFC drumstick and empty bucket.
