Actually, corned beef is the Irish-American tradition. My parents are from Ireland and they would have ham and cabbage. I’m a vegetarian, so I’ll just observe the drinking part of the holiday.

all my mates are going and staying the night celebrating round york,but i dont think i can go.what with 2 nights out next week,then my birthday at re-order night,then holiday in spain day after that.what am i going on about

St Patricks day??? what the fuck is with peoples obsession with Ireland? i have some irish blood in me, but i will be doing nothing, the same as i do for St Andrews day. St George or St David. Top o the mornin tae ya.
I have no idea what all the paddyphilia is about either...as I have often mentioned....when in the staes we had people with names like Maya's trying to tell us they were Irish...and black geezers telling us their granny was from Donegal.
Leave it out guys...we're an island of petty religious terrorists, bigots and alcoholics, it's not big and clever to be from ireland...unless you're IN Ireland and can at least enjoy the sheer wonder of the landscape.
Paddy's day here is a pain, cos both sides think Paddy was theirs (despite him being here 1000 years before there was such a think as a prod)....what tends to happen then is that there's a big parade in Belast, which a good 50% of protestant carers (meaning those who, unlike me, give a fuck) will whine about and wax lyrical (or as close to lyrical as a strategically shaved ape can get) on "fenians getting their own way" (all bollox of course, it's not like there are IRA recruitmet floats going down Royal Avenue ;) ). There are all sorts of non-paddy events on the day too...the schools cup final for instance, and usually some horse racing down at downroyal or the currah.
Nothing.
Will be a busy day at work though - we have 14 weddings. Let's hope some of them don't turn up drunk. 
Irish Blood in our family.
Not that we need an excuse to celebrate. Will be meeting up with several of my family and most of the missus' family up the local Irish Centre for some shandy and shennanigans.
