Can someone tell me how this Pussycat Dolls reality show possibly gave rise to this quote:

"At its core, this show goes beyond just finding a new Pussycat Doll; it's about female empowerment, self-discovery and personal transformation," said Dawn Ostroff, CW's president of entertainment"

The fact that a female executive could refer to the pussycat dolls as being about "female empowerment" is beyond me. It seems to me that they are more about making men drool and creating unrealistic body images in the minds of young females--neither of which does much to empower females.

I hate reality TV.

I'm conflicted. I believe there are too many reality shows but not enough sexploitation.

I think they should call it what it is without the stupid pretensions. Don't call it "female empowerment," executives should just say "we thought we could get more advertising money if we had more scantily clad women gyrating on our network." I bet that quote alone would get alot of us to tune in...

you've made me curious; i might have to tune in. when's it on?

They should call it Find-A-Slut.

They look like a bunch of classless, stupid, brainless tarts... I'm glad I don't listen to that garbage. They look like bad role models for women. "As long as you shake your bum, wear little or no clothing, act stupid, and act boy crazy, you'll be fine" type of an attitude.:nono: :nonono:  :(

Wait, I'm confused....the Dolls make music?

I just thought they were a bunch of stingy strippers who don't quite get naked for some strange reason :evil4:

Which is just fine by me, leaves more to the imagination

Sexplotation? Or just crappy music? Can't it be both? More garbage reality TV for the brain dead (no offence, I mean that in the nicest way, all!) which I shall take Uncle Liam's advice and not watch.

I wouldn't care so much about them, except they butchered "Tainted Love" into a sleazy Vegas lounge show act. I'm surprised Marc Almond didn't sue.

Marc probably was proud. :evil4:

Ed Cobb's probably rolling in his grave though. Maybe not.

ummm sure...it's all spin. The CW Network is the former WB network in America. They are last place pretty much and need anything to get ratings, including this "dial a slut reality show".

Look only the brunette singer actually sings. The rest of them are just an updated "Solid Gold Dancers"

Lowest common denominator-once again-sex sells!! When I see one of their videos I expect a porn movie to break out!!

Sexist? who knows? Stupid? better believe it....

Err, did you ever see the back cover of the first Soft Cell album? I think Marc knows his way around sleaze.

Well, at the end of the day it's all about female empowerment, isn't it?

That...or catering to horny guys with lousy music and a halfway decent dance routine that is "racy" enough to get the Religious Right's blood up, but no one else who's seen their fair share of skin flicks :p

There is good sleaze and there is bad sleaze. Soft Cell was kind of kinky. Watching the PCD is like watching Britney Spears in that "I'm a Slave 4 U" video times 6.

So, do we actually hate them or, are we jealous that they can use their sexuality to make a lot of money, or at least a record label can use their sexuality to make a lot of money?

I can't stand their music, but the videos always stop me in my channel surfing tracks, don't need to pay for that kind of fantasy.

Maybe I'll flip to it for a giggle once in a while.
