This flippant thread is just a practice court for the soon-to-be-reopened "Room 101" where you can list here your most despised tunes of all time - your rollcall of shame of truly cringeworthy moments. You can nominate absolutely ANYTHING - not just recorded material - be they your old embarrassing childhood songs or ad jingles or hymns sung at school or footie terrace anthems or whatever takes you fancy [or rather lack of]..... Feel free to toss in your wish list of whatever you think should be buried forever, never to torment your precious lugs ever again....be my guest. :evil4:

My starter list to get things going:

"Auld Lang Syne" - always fooking hated that song. :sick: The British National Anthem (I'm proud to say I don't even know all the words to that one) - Trad Arr. "Que Sera Sera" - whoever sings it - all versions are shite! "We'll Meet Again" - Vera Lynn "My Heart Will Go On" - Celine Dion "Land of Hope And Glory" - Trad Arr. "My Way" - any version! Ad jingle for "Co-co Pops" - all the various versions over the years "Nessun Dorma" - Luciano Pavarotti - thanks to Italia '90, that most loathesome of musical genres, OPERA, became hip and trendy!! :sick: :sick: :sick: What da fook? Who can possibly reconcile the image of a fat bloated caterwauling bloke (Gazza) blubbing to the sound of another fat bloated caterwauling bloke (LP) ? I just don't get it! Some people are sick! "Unchained Malady/Untrained Melody/Unhinged Melody" - whichever version you hear, I'm sicktafookingdeathofthispieceofshit!!! "I Will Always Love You" - Whitney Houston's excellently soulful and sympathetic rendering of course. "Orville's Song" - Keith Harris and Orville "Grandma" - St Winifred's School Choir Any song by Tottenham Football Club - especially the ones by Chas and Dave. "In The Army Now" - Status Quo "We Wish You A Merry Christmas!" - the only song the door-to-door carol singers can come up with. Luckily in my case they're usually sent packing with a huge Irish Wolfhound in hot pursuit before they've even got to the word "Christmas". Thank the lord! "Happy Birthday To You....!!" - as a kid I always HATED this song - cringeing as everyone sang it. To this day, I refuse to sing it even to my own little uns - I mime it instead cos I'd die of embarrassment otherwise.... That stupid inane "Drill Instructor" song you get made to sing in Military Corporal Ranks - you know the one I mean....

oh god, there's so much more, so much more.... but I need to save my breath now... :evil4:

Anything by Mariah Chuffing Carey/ Whitney/ et al is eternally tragic but the one that's in my head at present as being an all out killer is Eminem - Slim Shady I'm sure there are thousands (at least) more but today that's the one - obviously listening to shite radio today at work :nonono:

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven

And if they aren't controversial enough, I've just thought of another:

The absolute worst song EVER, for me, has to be THE DOUBLE DUTCH BUS -- can't remember which "artist(s)" was/were responsible for this, and I guess it's better this way!!!!

I have always held "Witchy Woman" by the Eagles in the lowest esteem, ditto to "Oh what a night" by Frankie Valli, and the relatively recent entry of "Hey baby" by DJ Otzi.

Honourable mentions go to the entire Creed catalogue, Robbie Williams (particularly "Better Man") and absolutely anything by Kid Rock or Andrew WK. Party Hard indeed. CTB :cool:

PS - Any fellow Aussies who wish to nominate the work of Killing Heidi, Jebediah or the Underground Lovers have my full support!

A while back, the background music for London Major Appliance's radio spots was a track by the Stabilizers, a duo from my home town of Erie, Pennsylvania.

Signed to the majors. A video on MTV's 120 Mintues (one play...great use of resources there). Apparently a big radio hit in Denver, Colorado. Dropped in ownership shuffle at label. Second album complete but canned. Advert for London Major Appliance.

This has been Behind the Music: The Stabilizers.

Daphne and celine? - Ooh stick you... whatever it is, have the mind numbing 3 noted tune in my head now but can't think of the (I'm sure so very talented) lyrics.

Also WetWetWet - Love is all around - hearing even the shite beginning of that puts me in a right foul mood, this is closely followed on the rage creating scale by Brian Adams' similar film soundtrack effort. :mad:
