(o/t-ish) Your Most Hated Songs......EVER!!!

This flippant thread is just a practice court for the soon-to-be-reopened "Room 101" where you can list here your most despised tunes of all time - your rollcall of shame of truly cringeworthy moments. You can nominate absolutely ANYTHING - not just recorded material - be they your old embarrassing childhood songs or ad jingles or hymns sung at school or footie terrace anthems or whatever takes you fancy [or rather lack of]..... Feel free to toss in your wish list of whatever you think should be buried forever, never to torment your precious lugs ever again....be my guest. :evil4:

My starter list to get things going:

"Auld Lang Syne" - always fooking hated that song. The British National Anthem (I'm proud to say I don't even know all the words to that one) - Trad Arr. "Que Sera Sera" - whoever sings it - all versions are shite! "We'll Meet Again" - Vera Lynn "My Heart Will Go On" - Celine Dion "Land of Hope And Glory" - Trad Arr. "My Way" - any version! Ad jingle for "Co-co Pops" - all the various versions over the years "Nessun Dorma" - Luciano Pavarotti - thanks to Italia '90, that most loathesome of musical genres, OPERA, became hip and trendy!!   What da fook? Who can possibly reconcile the image of a fat bloated caterwauling bloke (Gazza) blubbing to the sound of another fat bloated caterwauling bloke (LP) ? I just don't get it! Some people are sick! "Unchained Malady/Untrained Melody/Unhinged Melody" - whichever version you hear, I'm sicktafookingdeathofthispieceofshit!!! "I Will Always Love You" - Whitney Houston's excellently soulful and sympathetic rendering of course. "Orville's Song" - Keith Harris and Orville "Grandma" - St Winifred's School Choir Any song by Tottenham Football Club - especially the ones by Chas and Dave. "In The Army Now" - Status Quo "We Wish You A Merry Christmas!" - the only song the door-to-door carol singers can come up with. Luckily in my case they're usually sent packing with a huge Irish Wolfhound in hot pursuit before they've even got to the word "Christmas". Thank the lord! "Happy Birthday To You....!!" - as a kid I always HATED this song - cringeing as everyone sang it. To this day, I refuse to sing it even to my own little uns - I mime it instead cos I'd die of embarrassment otherwise.... That stupid inane "Drill Instructor" song you get made to sing in Military Corporal Ranks - you know the one I mean....

oh god, there's so much more, so much more.... but I need to save my breath now... :evil4:

Anything by Mariah Chuffing Carey/ Whitney/ et al is eternally tragic but the one that's in my head at present as being an all out killer is Eminem - Slim Shady I'm sure there are thousands (at least) more but today that's the one - obviously listening to shite radio today at work :nonono:

I agree with Marty's and Cheeky Monkey's nominations but here are two more which are often found on lists of supposed all-time musical greats:

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven

And if they aren't controversial enough, I've just thought of another:

John Lennon - Imagine

I'm taking cover now...

p.s. as you can tell, i really hate that nasal vocal crap inspired by pearl jam and alice and chains. gross. :\puke: :violent:

The absolute worst song EVER, for me, has to be THE DOUBLE DUTCH BUS -- can't remember which "artist(s)" was/were responsible for this, and I guess it's better this way!!!!

IT'S FOOKIN' AWFUL !

I have always held "Witchy Woman" by the Eagles in the lowest esteem, ditto to "Oh what a night" by Frankie Valli, and the relatively recent entry of "Hey baby" by DJ Otzi.

Honourable mentions go to the entire Creed catalogue, Robbie Williams (particularly "Better Man") and absolutely anything by Kid Rock or Andrew WK. Party Hard indeed. CTB

PS - Any fellow Aussies who wish to nominate the work of Killing Heidi, Jebediah or the Underground Lovers have my full support!

Anyone in the London (Ontario) area...

A while back, the background music for London Major Appliance's radio spots was a track by the Stabilizers, a duo from my home town of Erie, Pennsylvania.

Signed to the majors. A video on MTV's 120 Mintues (one play...great use of resources there). Apparently a big radio hit in Denver, Colorado. Dropped in ownership shuffle at label. Second album complete but canned. Advert for London Major Appliance.

This has been Behind the Music: The Stabilizers.

Good call on Auld Lang Sinus Infection...my wife won't listen to it.

These are my nominees...I can't guarantee that they're not all the same song -- uh, power ballad:

Billy Vera and the Beaters - At This Moment Chris DeBurgh - The Lady in Red Sheriff - When I'm With You Bad English - When I See You Smile

As for the Titanic love song; can you believe the guy gets to take home an Oscar statuette for writing about, what, 12 words?

Near Far Wherever you are Whatever...take your bald little statue and go #$& yourself. Next presenter please.

I just think it's really clumsily handled, with some of the most cringeworthy lyrics he's ever come up with. I'm sure the sentiment is genuine, just that it wasn't done very well.

Oh no this has just got me thinking of all the pants music I have heard in my life!

Daphne and celine? - Ooh stick you... whatever it is, have the mind numbing 3 noted tune in my head now but can't think of the (I'm sure so very talented) lyrics.

Also WetWetWet - Love is all around - hearing even the shite beginning of that puts me in a right foul mood, this is closely followed on the rage creating scale by Brian Adams' similar film soundtrack effort.

I'd been doing so well too. :D

Well...whilest out dancing to wonderful "retro" tunes from the 80's last night, I found myself remembering back the good old days...the thrill of the night of course, was when Blue Monday came on, and everybody in the place rushed to the dance floor...as the song was ending, I was already headed off, but I caught myself finally recognizing the next song...now how the hell this song could ever really fit in with the great tunes I had been hearing all night long...but please...what fooking DJ in his right mind would follow up BM with Jesse's Girl by Rick Springfield...

I hated that song years ago...and after this abomination on my otherwise wonderful night...I hate it even more...

the only thing worse than this is ANYTHING by

JOHN DENVER!!!!!

Can I just throw in for good measure "Let it be" by The Beatles?

Damn, mr fingers got there before me, with both of my first two choices.

Apart from that, and the obvious fish-in-a-barrel targets like Phil Collins and Cliff, I'd nominate just about anything by Groove Armada.

Also I nominate the Exorcist, which, though pedants might carp that it doesn't technically qualify, being a film and not a song, I just really really hate and think is one of the most overrated pop-culture artifacts of all time.

 excellent additions, Martian. i highly second them. but i believe i can top them ALL...

dunno if this is something that has ever had the bad taste to set foot off of these shores. and i sincerely hope not, for fear that the rest of the world will think less of us Americans than they already do (and usually with good reason!).

one word. many CDs. KidBop.

if you are unfamiliar with this concept (and i really hope, for ALL of your sakes, that you are)...imagine all of the terrible songs we've been listing above. done typical crap karaoke-style arrangements...and choruses of kids singing. yay, six-year-old-girlies singing along with "Oops! 2.Fat - Weird Al Yankovic (never thought this guy was funny)

  1. Nikita - Elton John

  2. Two of Hearts - Stacey Q (Anyone else remember her ?)

  3. Bad Medicine - Bon Jovi (Another one of those hits that was played way to much)

6.Heart and Soul - Tpau (for taking JD's name)

  1. Get Ready - Carol Hitchcock (she looks like Peter Garrett)

  2. Shattered Dreams - Johnny Hates Jazz

  3. The Final Countdown - Europe (Hairy bastards)

I got into dance music in the mid-to-late 80's (sorry, 1980's just in case anyone thinks I was born before the Queen Mother) but there's one track from that era I absolutely cannot stand and that's "Ride On Time" by Black Box. Snap's "Rhythm Is A Dancer" was awful and 2 Unlimited's "No Limits" (everybody now - "No, no - no, no, no, no - no, no, no, no - no, no, there's no limits") was absymal but "Ride On Time" was even worse. It was just a woman screeching over a bog-standard piano line. To make matters worse, the woman who appeared in the video and went on Top Of The Pops wasn't even on the record - the vocal was by Loletta Holloway. "Ride On Time" proved that if you were famous on the dance scene you could make formulaic crap just to make money and people who were dishonest, stupid or both would call it cutting-edge music.

Brendan, how can you nominate Europe's "The Final Countdown" without quoting the lyrics? Have you forgotten "We're heading for Venus/And still we stand tall/And maybe they've seen us..."?

Candle in the wind - Fat Bald Versace wearing gimp Any novelty record.....ever (plus parts 1 to a zillion) Everything i do i do it 4 U - Bloody Lumberjack I second that emotiom - Pretentious eastern c***s Words - FR (fooking retatd) David Nelly the Elephant - Toy Dolls (if ever a band where ruined by one song) Tragedy - The perma-tanned geezers and the androids as well Happy Talk - Captain Sensible (git)

Whilst Captain Sensible's "Happy Talk" was a terrible record it has one redeeming feature - it was the first number one record to include what is known in polite society as "the C-word". The story I've heard (and if I remember rightly Captain Sensible told it) goes like this:

The Captain was trying to record the line that goes something like "Jolly baby, I'm the lucky one" (I don't think the last word is actually "one" - I can't remember what the word is but I think it's an unoffensive American slang term) but no matter how he sang the line as it was written he didn't think it conveyed the feeling he wanted to put across. Partially in frustration and partially in an attempt to get the right sound instead of singing the line as it was written he changed the last word to "the C-word" and when the producer heard this he said it sounded perfect. He tried singing the line as it was written again but he still couldn't get it to sound as good as the take on which he swore so eventually they gave up and put the take with "the C-word" on the final version because they thought no-one would notice what he was actually singing.

Well, I'd just like to chuck in a few too meself -

"Here To Stay" - by New Order.

HO HO HO!!! ONLY JOKING!!!

Actually, I certainly can't dredge up so many wretched moments like our walking encyclopedia Marty has done here , but I'd just like to say that amongst my most despised tunes of torture I'd have to say every bleedin' song that ever featured on a musical as they well and truly grate beyond the call of duty! South Pacific! Oliver! Cats! Starlight Express! West Side Story! Grease (ESPECIALLY GREASE!! :nonono: ), et al...

Then add to that Renee and Renato's "Save Your Love My Darling.." - that video was so bad it was hilarious! Joe Dolce's "Shaddup You Face" Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus" Flash and the Pan - "Waiting for a Train" Chris de Bleuuuurgh! - ANYTHING BY HIM!! Especially that unforgettable Power Bollock classic about alternative drugs "High On Emulsion"! Michael Jackson - anything he's done since Thriller basically The Bee Gees - nearly everything they've done, those voices, how can anyone take their songs even slightly seriously? That song "Una Paloma Blanca" (by Jonathan King?) gets reet on me tits as well. I used to love The Goodies as a kid but that song they did "Black Pudding Bertha" was really annoying - the kids in my class used to keep doing the stupid dance, pretending to pull on their (non-existent) braces and flat caps. And that Monty Python song "Always Look On The Bright Side" - what the fuckin hell? Maybe I'm alone in thinking that songs a pile of cack!

Shit, can't come up with anymore at the moment. I need a beer now to stiumlate my thinking power... :spit:

anything by whatever the latest teen-latin-hip-hop pop crossover is at any given moment. Was the UK subject to the horrible time period between 98 and 2000 where we had to put up with all that Ricky Martin crap? Is he still around? I swear I saw him driving a Dodge Aries the other day. Moving on...

Creed - anything "With arms wide opennnnn" Makes me want to shove rusty nails into my skull.

Tantric - anything. I haven't complained about Barneys singing since I've heard these guys.

Larger than Life - by whoever it's by (Nsync maybe?)

Staind - it's been awhile, and whatever other song they have, he just sounds so damn whiny. Someone should go kick that guys ass, and tell him to take whatever it is that's making him so miserable like a man.

Girl at the Rock show - Blink 182

any "Thug" music of any kind. Ever.

Underground Lovers were a half decent band, big guy.

The Southern Sons was the name you were looking for.. Execrable.

:\pimp2:

No they weren't. And even if they were, they are not now, as their support slot at the Metro to our heroes demonstrated. You can't be Ride and the Pet Shop Boys at the same time, you pretentious tossers.

As for Southern Sons, good call. But were they as bad as 1927? or Wa Wa Nee? The Eurogliders? Zoot? The list (and my heart) will go on.... CTB

I have to say that I liked Wa Wa Nee .. Should I be embarrassed about this ? Were Wa Wa Nee big in the UK ? I think they're biggest hit was a song called Stimulation ...

Thanks for reminding me about the Technohead - I wanna be a hippy song ... I think thats my most hated song of all time.

Remember that song by Foreigner 'I want to know what love is'? It seemed to be at No.1 for aeons sometime in the early 80's (1984??)....I absolutely despised it. When it used to come onto Top of the Pops I used to throw a proper Bonnie Langford style tantrum, beating the floor with my fists

I don't think any other record as had the same kind of response since, however awful......I saw it on some sort of nostalgia TV show a while back and had to run out the room

I've always hated American Pie... and that guy from Roxy Music (what's his name?) he has a voice weaker than Barney's pie refusing will power...

Two more, hated all the more for their apparent requirement to be played every single day on AOR radio in the U.S.:

Billy Joel - Piano Man Eddie Money - Baby Hold On To Me

That second one goes in the "Lyric cliche" thread, too.

Baby hold on to meWhatever will be will beThe future is ours to seeI've been stung by a beeMy cat got stuck in a treeI've got water on the kneeMy favorite cheese is brieNelson Mandela's free

Mumble without melody repeatedly over no chord changes until dead.

Oh yeah:

Air Supply - You're Every Woman in the World to Me

So much to hate.

Dont worry Hank I don't own the atrocity. I was just obsessed by how bad it was when I was at uni and had time to listen to the radio etc. I think it was probably on the same edition of TOTP as Babylon Zoo and I rememeber me and a mate chucking anything we could find at the TV for the duration of both tracks.

I'm surprised that The Corrs haven't been mentioned yet but perhaps that's because their music doesn't stand out in the memory because it's so bland. I'd list some of their songs but I can't really remember them apart from the one that was used on an advert for a bank and "Breathless" (surely you remember that one - it goes "Go on, go on, leave me breathless", to which any person with taste would reply "Okay, I will, as soon as I've found a piece of rope").

It isn't a rhetorical question. It's just a question the answer to which begins with "You could start by promising never to sing again"

Can't say that I hate that Vera Lynn song all that much, but then the only context that I know it from is from the movie Dr. Strangelove.

What do I hate?

Shiny Happy People by R.E.M.

Any song by Ja Rule

Any song by The Eagles

Grease soundtrack

Actually, most of the Hot 100 is complete drivel, but I try me best to forget about most of them ASAP, hence I can't recall every single bad song out there, as there are way too many. These are four things that I automatically tune out whenever they come up.

Well, someone mentioned Spitting Image above there but as a rule nearly ALL comedy records make me wanna pull my teeth out - especially those dreadfully unfunny ones for say Comic Relief - HALE AND PACE, YOUNG ONES & CLIFF RICHARD, WESTLIFE DOING BILLY OCEAN, etc etc...there's just too many of these wretched things to list.... plus abominations like STAR TREKKIN' that really should never have even left the editing suite....

Here's a few more obscurer ones people tend to overlook.

DAVID BOWIE AND MICK JAGGER - Prancing In The Streets. (David was going to include this on his Tin Machine album but decided against it as he needed to scrape together enough royalties with his own wretched original songs on that album without having to pay out to someone else) HEAR 'N' AID - Stars (dreadful poodle-rock masses do their 'bit' for Africa - utter schlock!!) ENGLAND WORLD CUP SQUAD - This Time (We'll Get It Right) - (ahh, but you didn't did you? You stupid curly-permed tone-deaf tossbags? Still haven't to this day have you? Shitehawks!!) URBAN HYPE - A Trip To Trumpton - CAK!! CANDY FLIP - Strawberry Fields Forever - the ultimate PINNACLE of bandwagon-chasing (let alone jumping,if these two short-legged love-beaded trolls were anything to go by) naffness...anyone remember their debut album which sank without trace? Me neither! THE SOUP DRAGONS - I'm Free. (exceptionally talented this lot - first they pilfer the Buzzcocks, then The Wedding Present, then Baggy, then Jimi Hendrix, then Grunge....then Brit Pop and easy listening but I think people stopped caring by then....the only band of the time worse than them was THE FARM) RE-FLEX - The Politics Of Dancing. YEEEUCH!!HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!! THE EIGHTIES - YOU WANT WANKY FRETLESS BASS PLAYING ROCK SCHOOL CASUALTIES WITH MULLETS A PLENTY AND NEANDERTHAL EASTER ISLAND COMPLEXIONS?? CHEESY GOD AWFUL ELECTRONIC RHYTHMS? THOSE HORRID HEXAGONAL SIMMONS DRUM KITS? TERRIBLE INANE LYRICS ABOUT NOTHING IN PARTICULAR WELDED TO EVEN WORSE AND MORE CUMBERSOME SONG TITLES?? Then you deserve this band. Truly truly wretched shite! HAYZSI FANTAYZEE - John Wayne Is Big Leggy - and you Jeremy and Katey, are two of the skinniest most talentless and mingeing ragamuffing c***s I have ever clapped eyes on! DAISY CHAINSAW - Love Your Money - Irritatingly derivative, tenth-rate buzzsaw punk twenty years too late. Wendy James has a lot to answer for... DAN HARTMAN - Instant Replay - responsible for the entire career of Take That and their horrendous brethren... Nuff sed.. DOUG E FRESH AND THE GET FRESH CREW - The Show. (This was supposed to be the future of rap. It was their only UK hit. That figures.) SCORPIONS - Wind Of Change - it's the whilsting wot did it mama!! MODERN ROMANCE - Their whole pathetic existence. MODERN TALKING - Brother Louie - OH FUCK OFF!! BONNIE TYLER - Holding Out For An Aero [sic]- you're holding out for a flogging more like if you continue to peddle such utter over-produced cacophonous bilge like this. Not so easy trying to live down that Shakey duet was it poor luv?? so why not go the other extreme and turn all power pap on us complete with your laser pyrotechnics and billowing hair/exploding chest videos?? WANG CHUNG - Dance Hall Days - whiney crap. This band were huge in the States - wonder why? BILLY RAY CYRUS - Achy Breaky Fart. JUST DIG THAT BEAVER PADDLE KENTUCKY WATERFALL MAN!!! OCEANIC - Insanity/Controlling Me - FOOK ME!! Take some mogadon, you stupid hyperactive bitch!! KENNY LOGGINS - Footloose - the epitome of that horrid mid-80's period where everything was so stylistically and musically redundant those who survived it are worthy of a War Veteran's Medal. Like me.

okay - that's all for now, but believe me.....how much longer is this madness allowed to continue??

one addition to Hubert mentioning "una paloma blanca". If i remember correctly that one was written by a dutch band called the George Baker Selection! Years later a song by them was used in Tarantinos movie Pulp Fiction. Now there's our question for today: name that song. (mainly because i forgot the title myself :o

To Gnu: "The Doc" is high quality TV as well. Too bad PAX is the only channel that comes in clearly for me in Akron w/o cable!

Anybody mention Bush? I nominate Glycerine for the quality "stream of conscious" lyrics

Also I seem to remember some sod called Johnny Ray who had a song called "My name is Johhny Ray". I thought he was our fault (the States) but I think he's a Brit

That's just the way it is baby- the rembrandts (i'll be there for you is vapid but at least catchy)

anything ever written or performed by jewel (someone get her another van so she can go away and leave us in peace)

one of us by joan osbourne (I was shocked to learn this song was written by a former hooter, the band not a well endowed waitress but might as well been)

aerosmith and any song of theirs with a "witty" double entendre or their stunning and hard hitting take on domestic violence "jamie's got a gun"

any travesty by p.diddy, who's lauded for his ability to totally rip off song riffs and write lyrics by changing three words of the original songs. He is the M.C. Hammer of the new millenium!

I'll be back!!

Oops! Sorry to say this Cheekeh, but I have fond memories of that song! Seriously! In the States visiting my late Grandma in Vegas back in 1987 - Me, me sister and me cousins were rollerbladin to that one amongst all the big-haired college kids at the time - fookin hilarious!!! That song was all over the place then, and cuz it's so ridiculous that's why - especially when the fooking chorus shifts up a key to maximum shrieking mullet-shredding effect towards the end!! I liked it actually, Still do now, in fact.... :o

HIYA FROOTIJEN, DARLIN'!! :hi: :hi: :hi:

Good to see ya finally pop in here! As you can see this list is growing by the week and we haven't had our fill of the most cringeworthy tunes yet, so allow me to prolong the agony and add another selection from the dusty ole archives of PAIN PAIN PAIN!!!!!

"We Shall Not Be Moved" - whoever sings this cretinous song is an utter dick and deserves castration "Onward Christian Soldiers" - Trad. arr. - pile of cack! Try singing that when you're wanking (Hi, Robbie W!) "When The Saints Go/Come Marchin' In" - good song for torturing our friend Karen James Curtis with... arf! "All Right" - East 17. Fooking annoying piece of shit or what? "Down Under" - Men At Work "Save Your Kisses For Me" - Brotherhood of Ham "Here We Go Here We Go Here We Go!!!" - Trad arr./Everton F.C. Shitey wanky tune sung by slimy wanky people. "I Need Love" - LL Cool J - No! You need CHEESE more like! "Do They Know It's Christmas?" - BOTH Band Aid versions  "Susanna" - The Art Company - fooking hell, how did THIS get in the charts in 1982?? "Labour of Love" - Hue & Cry - symptomatic of all those fooking horrid white-soul-boy-wannabes that plagued us like the clap in the latter half of the 80s. "Just Say No" - Grange Hill Cast. So why the hell didn't the Recording Engineer keep his fooking word then?? "Startrax Disco Club" - Startrax - an appalling Bee Gees medley that hit the top 20 when these types of abominations were infesting the charts all over the bleeding place like a particularly virulent smallpox outbreak. Bee Gees!! Medley!! My arse!! "Liberator" - Spear Of Destiny - Sorry but Kirk's voice fooking grates on this song. And it was played EVERY time at our Polytechnic Student Disco around the time of the mid 80s..... :nonono: "O Come All Ye Faithful" Trad Arr. My most hated Xmas hymn of all time. "Tom Sawyer" - Rush - probably the worst band that ever came from Canada. Ten Minute drum solos!! Wow!! That is so-o-o-o good! "Japanese Boy" - Aneka - definitely one of the cheesiest, naffest number one (!) hits in living memory. And fooking nagginly un-erasable from one's traumatised memory too. Thanks, bitch! Are you Karen James's mother by anychance? "Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini"/"Seven Little Girls Sitting On The Back Seat" - Timmy Mallet aka Bombalurina - surely the worst ever attempt at trying to take his wackiness onto record ever witnessed. Fooking hell! Tellingly his man appeal nosedived shortly afterwards....as did his TV career. "Lets All Chant" - Pat and Mick. No! Let's all prance about waggling our fooking day-glo mullets instead...Surely that will get the chicks all horny won't it? "Neighbours" Theme Tune - Tony Hatch. And to think they go to the trouble of rerecording it every two or three years as well Fook me!! "Uptown Girl" - Billy Joel - this original was irritating enough without Westlife carbon-copying it.... "With A Little Help From My Friends" - Joe Cocker. Rule one in how not to do a Beatles cover: choose the worst songs in their catalogue. Rule two in how not to do a Beatles cover: use it as an excuse for pseudo-theatrical self-indulgent overblown nonsense like the piece of shite you, Mr Cocker, have made out of it. "Alice? Who the Fook Is Alice" - Smokie and Roy "Chubby" Brown - fook me, just HOW annoying was this song...and how many fooking pubs up and down the land were playing it on a nightly basis due to their karaoke machine being temporarily out of order?? "Tease Me" - Chaka Demus and Pliers - a pile of boffy cack! "I Feel Love" - Bronski Beat and Marc Almond. Yet another blatant excuse for Jimmy Somerville Spudface to demonstrate his uncanny ability to bring all the dogs out....Marc Almond? he never even fooking got a look-in on this one!!!! "It Takes Two" - Rod Stewart/Tina Turner AND Bruno Brookes/Liz Kershaw. Indeed. It takes four of yer to demonstrate the unspeakable crapness of this song a hundred times over..... It only takes one gun and four bullets to finish you fookers off that's for sure!!! :mad2: "Baker Street" - Undercover. This bunch of 1992 chart-invaders was a front for a jumped up Essex boy who admitted he wasn't going to write any of his own songs cos it was easier to have hits singing other people's....after three singles I think someone tracked him down and disembowelled him....undercover indeed. "Centerfold" - J Geils Band (or as some of us used to know them as, The Gay Giles Band) - sad puerile shrivel-dicked bedroom-wank shite.... "I Eat Cannibals" - Toto Coelo..... "We Are The World" - USA For Africa...what gives with this piece of patronising soap-opera-glitz-wank?? Fooking hell, the sight of seventy over-pampered over-coiffured over-rich showbiz erections bleating about how brilliant their own little empires are over the syrupy cast offs of Stevie Wonder's back-catalogue is a truly wretched sight to behold. Makes Band Aid '88 sound bearable in comparison....

Okay that's my fill for the time being....now naff off the lot of yer!!!

Queen-We are the champions Anything by: Whitesnake Poison

Gun's N Roses-Welcome to the Jungle Britney Spears-OOps(saddest excuse of so called POP music) Elton John-Candle in the Wind (both versions) Romantics-What I like about You Gillette-Short DICK Man(when I worked at the record store, everyone bought that-makes me :violent: ) Madonna-MUSIC Blink 182-All the small things

That is all that I can think of now.......

As for grow up, if you actually hate a song and name it, it's that you were able to listen to it completly.. there is PLENTY of music I skip because I don't like, which one would be the worst? Quite difficult to say.

But one I TRULLY don't like, even with a few beers in me is the MACARENA.. gosh I hate that song!

Aye...we did all appear to forget about Britney...

Oops my boobs grew again....

hey, she could do a little duet with barney on that one!!!!

actually, the only sound I want to hear out of her mouth is the slurping sound she makes while giving out blow jobs.

I wouldn't even want to hear her articulate the words: Jeff, come and take me. That's how absolutely horrid I find her voice now. As a matter of fact, I used one of her CDs (remember, my roomie thinks Britney is talanted) as a frisbee for the dog...

We also seem to have forgotten Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Simpson and all these other young things that want to take over the world...

And what about the Spice Girls?!?!?!! I only mention them because the movie was on last night, in espanol no less!!!! That was fooking hilarious...

it's all in the chorus ("i'm ugly with a capital U I don't need a mirror to tell me it's true"?:dead: ) the song isn't bad if only she changed the lyrics and sang about something else.

Wait for the boxed set.

By the way, Janaki, MBV had some really beautiful pop tunes (wait for Johnny Lydon singing "Pop Tones" to pass...ahhh).

Never Say Goodbye, (You're) Safe In Your Sleep (From This Girl), (Please) Lose Yourself In Me...

and some really, really, really suck-ass records too. Avoid the early stuff at all cost.

"Sunny Sundae Smile" "This Is Your My Bloody Valentine Record" "Strawberry Wine" - yep - they had Dave Conway as lead singer then...pretty diabolical all told then, weren't they? Thank god for Bilinda then!

That's how absolutely horrid I find her voice now. As a matter of fact, I used one of her CDs (remember, my roomie thinks Britney is talanted) as a frisbee for the dog...We also seem to have forgotten Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Simpson and all these other young things that want to take over the world...And what about the Spice Girls?!?!?!! I only mention them because the movie was on last night, in espanol no less!!!! here is my latest song i dislike...us folks in the states probably have "Tribute" ("the greatest song in the world") ringing in our ears...it's the worst song in the world  heard it on my way home from work again and quickly killed the radio and put on Here To Stay...now THAT IS a great song, right

First heard Tribute half asleep as the alarm rang at 4 in the morning. I was trying to figure out what the hell day it was while also trying to figure out the story to the song. I distinctly remember thinking "what in the world is this?" I gave up and hit the snooze button.

It's a song by Jack Black's band Tenacious D. The lyrics mention something about Jack and his bandmate meeting some demon on the road who was gonna eat their souls if they didn't play "the best song in the world", and sound as if they were made up as they went along. Of course, they do play the best song in the world, saving themselves. The music starts out kinda folky, then turns into a near-Led Zep style stomp. I hear it all of the time on the alternative stations around here. Worth a listen if only to hear Jack present us with his idea of a demon's voice. :evil3::lol:

Add to this rollcall of misery:

The Wedding March. Here Comes The Bride. The Theme from "Blind Date".

And any novelty variations on these fookers (like being played on fooking Kazoos or Arse-trumpets or whatever) are even worse as they're already asinine and gruesomely unfunny melodies to begin with....

reminds me of the band my friend Kim (not the one on this board, but another wunnerful friend called Kim) wanted to start. she'd call them "the Assless Chaps." and all would be androgynous girls.

sadly, someone stole her name idea already...and she's reasonably sure it *was* actually stolen, since it's people she vaguely knew at school in Phoenix... :nonono:

next up: Prince & Kyle E. duet on an updated version of her late-80's smash hit cover of "Locomotion" ! just imagine the both of them dancing around in the video for it in their respective cheeky outfits!

perhaps i should go hide now. yep, definitely a good idea. :D

Some songs I want to consign to Room 101/outer space/a deep hole: Agadoo BLACK LACE The Birdy Song THE BIRDIES any JIVE BUNNY record any CRAZY FROG record any rap record apart from Grandmaster, and "The Real Slim Shady" oh and Missy Elliott Leader of The Gang GARY death row GLITTER I'll think of more,I've got a very deep hole.

i would do anything for love...but i won't do that by meatloaf. he never does tell us what he won't do, does he? that's not really fair, is it? not to mention it's a crap rock opera that's below even rick wakeman's level.

also, back in the late '80s i spent 8 hours driving from denver to santa fe with my parents after my mother had just received as a gift...wait for it...the barbra streisand box set. 4 cassettes of total barbra. the parents listened to it non-stop in the car on the way down--and, to make matters worse, they took the back way to santa fe, through taos. thank god i had my little walkman with the smiths' eponymous first album inside. unfortunately, that was all i had and by the end of the trip i hated the damn album. it was also -5 outside. imagine: a vehicle with nowhere to run, -5 degree weather, and 8 hours of barbra streisand. i had found dante's true inner circle of hell.
