Your right again mate. Wah! were wonderful, and most of the Mighty Wah! stuff was pretty bad, the poster of Wylie inside "Hope" was in unbelievable bad bad taste, and I can't even mind the name of the other single, but "Story Of The Blues" is about as near perfect as pop gets (even the "Talking Blues" Story Of The Blues Part II.)

Was quite an interesting wee programme "Pop On Trial" New Order were voted No2 of best of the Eighties (Blue Monday or Temptation?), beaten to 1st by "Fairytale of New York" - The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl.

(Missed the football: The English fiba' that is. The Scottish football programing is appallingly bad up here, and almost weeks out of date by the time it's shown, unless you've sky sports.)

Congratulations to him. if he started with the words "Working Class" be interesting to find out where the rest of the sentence went, because in a purely grammatical sense, he doesnt have that many place to go.

Talking shite about grammar, while being incapable of spelling the simplest of words, and without being able to construct a sentence, a two year old wouldn't be ashamed of.

You're a joke!*

Fuck Me so it was! How could I have forgot "Come Back". Couldn't get "Remember" out my head was it was re-issued around about the same time? :confused2:

"Come Back" none to bad, it was just after "Nah Poo! The Art Of Bluff!"
It managed to sound "wimpy." :ignore:

The other stuff on both singles, well 12 inches, was probably better than the "A" sides. "Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory" is a great wee tune.

Edit/PS: Cheers Johnny, it was rare hearing that again after so long, would never have imagined "You Tube" would have had any Wah! (Mighty, or otherwise.)

Golden Rule No 1 When criticising grammar make sure your criticism is grammatically correct. I can count at least three errors after your correction of your to you're

1 - Should be whilst, rather than while 2 - There should either be a few more words after ashamed of, or at before talking shite, for it to be correct. 3 - The comma after sentence is surplus to requirements.

Checking a dictionary program I use, when I can't be bothered leafing through the full OED revels: While 3. Notwithstanding, in spite of the fact that. As an example of it's use it gives the statement "He kept talking while his throat hurt and no one was listening." As I've already eaten humble pie over this, I'm afraid at this juncture I am unwilling to concede this point at least. Plus I was not the one originally attempting to score petty points by nit-picking someone else's grammar, and straying totally off topic. I was merely pointing out how stupid it was of some one else to be doing so while being clearly grammatically deficient themselves. As anyone who knows me well, well knows, my spelling is atrocious at times. The surplus comma was supposed to be a semi-colon to give the italicised ending of the sentence more force. Finally the point of your second point is, I'm afraid, lost on me. You may well be correct, but until I can check with a higher authority I can trust, I shall have to rely on my primary school education which was often interrupted by extended stays in hospital due to chronic asthma. If I'm writing anything of import, I tend to edit, reedit and leave it for a while before a final edit and a proofreading from a source I trust. As these posts are anything but important, I tend to be sloppy and careless. And (yes and at the start of a sentence) to paraphrase what someone else said on another thread/forum. I find it slightly creepy that throwaway thoughts are archived here for all time.

But thanks for your thoughts on Mr Wylie and the various incarnations of Wah! :D

Always loved his work. Talked to him at the sound check for the Lpool arena and he was a good bloke.

Didn't think to ask him about Freebass though

Minx, you're out of order there mate.

Hibster is our resident pedant; he has been for years. He's not just ours either, he's a professional pedant who keeps several other message boards on the straight and narra.

The correct response when pedanted is to meekly say 'thank you' and try harder next time.

You're in good company. New Order found them themselves on the receiving end of a sternly-worded email following the release of Waiting for the Sirens Call which, as Hibster correctly pointed out, should have been called Waiting for the Sirens' Call unless accompanied by a note confirming that the call of only one siren was being called, in which case the singular possesive form would be correct.

At one point, it looked like Warners were going to have to pull all cds and publicity material from the shops and ship a package of four apostrophes to everyone who had already bought a copy (at that point only sixteen copies had been sold). In the end, Warner lawyers and Hibster agreed that the packaging could stay as it was in return for half the profits going to the Plain English Society and Hibster getting a press pass to all future New Order concerts.

As for the other comments. Suffering at the hands of sadists masquerading as "teachers" because you weren't "talking the Queens English" in fucking Scotland was traumatic for a wee Glaswegian boy! And I'm talking about before the belt was banned in Schools.

Then last week I was watching a programme about Ned's and knives in the West Coast of Scotland, and any time they interviewed a Scot it was fucking subtitled! (A regular occurrence.) (And btw the mumbling Irish numpty presenting it wasn't subtitled!) MAJOR :banghead: And don't even get me started on the Fitba' coverage, any and every English/England game live, Scotland/Scottish games S.F.A not even a mention on the "national" news after 20mins of talk about English football. It's almost enough you make you a Rampant nationalist and run out to join Siol nan Gaidheal (Seed of the Gael.) (If it wasn't for the likes of Messrs Wylie, McCulloch, Cope and Curtis.)

BBC? EBC! Mare like! :angry2:

Thank fuck for people like Joy Division, The Bunnymen, Teardrop Explodes, and The Mighty Wah!

PS: Shug ~ Whisky Wizz an' Wimmen! :D

 just one thing, it's the correct response when pedanticised, not pedanted.

mimx (Don't even get me started on the order of your roman numerals) i didnlt realise you could dish it out but were not prepared to take it. i will bear that in mind.

Dave, :nono:

Point 1. When quoting from another source the use of inverted commas is the correct practice. "While". Point 2. As above. Point 3. "Use of extraneous comma after sentence" would have been more succinct.
