Our boss is buying tons of pancake mix tomorrow and we're all having them for lunch. One of the lads managed 7 last year, I said I'm going to try to beat it. I will probably be horizontal, groaning and rubbing my belly this time tomorrow. I love pancakes though so I don't mind eating them until I'm sick.

I'll probably start with a few savoury pancakes - cheese and ham, before moving onto dessert, strawberry jam and lime marmelade (in separate pancakes!)... Dead classy, me...

Great isn't it - Rio gets a carnival, New Orleans gets Mardi Gras and we get to eat Pancakes.

Although we do have less chance of getting shot, to be fair.

Anyway, have you been outside recently? its fucking freezing. No weather for having a carnival!

Okay I think I understand now.... is this getting together for "pancakes" and seeing how many you can "eat" really a euphenism for some sort of yearly ritual group orgy which has origins dating back centuries from a Celtic fertility ceremony...? Cool :thumb:

Unfortunately not, it's got something to do with Lent (a period of 40 days of fasting), which meant that all perishable goods were chucked out. Thus, left with the ingredients to make pancake batter...

Of course, the origins, like most religious festivals (shrove essentially refers to the absolution of sins), the original meaning is long since lost in time...

And not being religious, I couldn't care less anyway!

So, it's just Pancake Day nowaday! :thumb:

Well the expression chez oldmonkey means that the proceding statement pertained to his house.

Graciously, Tim is allowing us to make our own choices.

Despite this, I won't be having any. I suspect that my reasons are very similar to Tim's. Much as men like them, pancakes is women's work. All that tosssing is no job for a man on his own.

Not that kind of tossing anyway :thumb:
