I'll watch the swimming, because I know one of the coaches and I like to see wet people in tight clothes.

Will probably try to catch Jo in the football.

That's about it.

I'll watch the Football, and some of the Athletics. And I'll be cheering on whoever Andy murray is facing in the Tennis.

The Weightlifting is always good for a laugh as well.

Well, he's basically a Scottish version of Henman isnt he?

And its not just him, its his rather patheitc bunch of fans.

"Come on Andy!" "Yay!" Murray Mound and all that bullshit. Actually in the belief that one day he'll win Wimbledon. As if!

It's in people's nature though isn't it? Cheering on the 'homegrown' boy (although it really bugs me when reporters call Murray British whereas Henman of course is English). Personally I didn't give a toss about Henman and I don't care much for Murray either. In fact, come to think of it, I don't care for tennis full stop.

Will watch the track events, boxing and maybe swimming... all the other events are just silly additions to the event.

I will not watch an openning ceremony for sure, screw it. Maybe I will watch some volleyball, swimming and tennis.....ermm no sense comment.

I've never watched the opening ceremony before, but my wife insists upon it. So, yes. In addition, I'll be watching gymnastics, track and field, basketball, tennis, weightlifting, table tennis, perhaps a bit of footy and swimming, plus all that other cool stuff you only get to see every four years, like the modern pentatholon and team handball.

I'll probably make the effort to watch as much as I can when I'm home.

The facilities look tremendous.I intend to watch some of the events but i suppose they are going to be on at very difficult times for the UK telly addict.Any idea when the main events are screened during the NIGHT?

I'm not interested in the dopinglympics. It'll be broadcasted early in the morning anyway.

just a shame they limited the womens events as victoria would have scooped several golds there i'm sure.

just about anything........except for basketball, trying to get all of those overpaid millionaires to function as a cohesive team is rather painful to watch.

Just checked the cable guide, the events are scattered across several networks: NBC, MSNBC, CNBC and USA. The football starts Thursday morning at 2 a.m. local time on MSNBC, about 5 hours from now. With the demands on my time, I'll probably just check to see what's OnDemand every night and pick and choose from that list.

The Chinese have excluded an American athlete for his political activism and the smog will be back in time for the opening ceremony tomorrow.

I can see this going down as one of the least-meaningful Games there has been. The brutality of the Chinese regime is simmering, and will boil over quite soon into a savage round of beatings and arests. They just can't help it.

What I want to know is this: How come when they were giving everyone the history lesson, how ocme they missed out "The Great Leap Forward," The "Cultural" Revolution, The actual Revolution, The land reforms or 58-61 etc etc? I was looking forward to see how they told us about them through the means of dance.

and I'll tell you this: I dread to think how all those dancers in the opening ceremony were treated over the last year.

so i guess the big question is this: will the closing ceremony just be one great big mass execution of dissidents? Imagine the money china could make by selling of the organs.
