My Gran got a letter saying she'd been recommended for patio doors. She sent it to the Police - she lived in a 1st floor flat!
I hate that recommended pages thing on Facebook.
'(insert number of 'friends' here) like this'.
Just because a lot of the people on my friends list like it doesn't mean I would necessarily like it.
PS- I like Oasis but I don't like the Charlatans much.

My mate got one of those 'Cash For Gold' freepost envelopes in the Olympia Shopping Centre in East Kilbride and posted off a plastic, gold coloured Mardi Gras bead necklace thing that Bacardi give away at festivals. They sent it back with a polite note saying the the gold content wasn't high enough

this happens on Amazon when I buy presents for people. you may like some more Thomas the Tank engine DVDs or the new Take That lp.
I clicked into this thread hoping to see some vicious diatribes telling us all how Oasis are shite.

No, although they pretty much ran out of ideas when Johnny Marr left them to it and the coke took hold.
That said Going Nowhere is one of my favourite songs at the moment.

I hadnt realised that Johnny Marr was such a significant part of Oasis that they only became bereft of ideas after the three songs he contributed to were released.
I mean, when people think Oasis, they obviously think of classics such as (Probably) All in the Mind, Born on a Different Cloud and Better Man. 
And as for the Coke, well, I suppose that was another thing that only happened to Oasis after 2002 as well!
Back in the real world, its pretty widely acknowledged that Heathen Chemistry (the only album Marr played on) is one of the worst albums they ever did, I suppose lacklustre might well describe it. At least Standing on the Shoulders of Giants had some half decent tracks on it (combined with a LOT of shit), whereas Heathen Chemistry doesnt. The very idea that Marr had any kind of positive impact on Oasis is, at best, laughable. But then again Colin, that pretty accurately describes your Johnny Marr obsession.
I didnt even know Johnny Marr (plays guitar) was involved in Oasis. Is there anybody he hasnt done stuff with? And why is he with that bunch of kids at the moment? The Cribs, I think. It always reminds me of a band at my school where the bass players Dad was one of our teachers. Each Christmas they'd play a concert and Mr Anderson would join them with his Gibson SG (and in his head he was with the rest of Pink Floyd).
Anyway, thats what I think of whenever I see The Cribs.
I agree with ger boy.oasis have a very inflated opinion of themselves,god knows why.they are mediocre at best and totally obnoxious. There are better bands around.they are called joy division and new order.

are you seriously suggesting that Johnny Marr playing on the early Oasis records (something which seems to exist only in your head, by the way) and him not being involved in later albums contributed to the decline of Oasis?
So Johnny Marr was uncredited, why then was he credited on three Heathen Chemistry songs? Why this sudden change of policy? Three songs, which are remarkable only for their sheer blandness.
And as for the coke. If Johnny Marr was playing on say Be Here Now, and it wasnt until the coke took hold, which you imply was after Marr stopped playing for them. Of course, its widely known that Oasis were coked up to the eyeballs for most of the mid 90's, resulting in the fantastically overblown nonsense that is Be Here Now.

Why am I deluded? And why are you so obsessed with coming on here and being rude to me? I've not posted on here very much for months. First thread I start, you pounce on it and start being a cunt, calling me obsessed and deluded. It's a very strange way to carry on. A bit worrying, really.
My opinion of Oasis hasn't changed in ten years really. The first two albums & "Whatever" EP are great and were just the boot up the arse the charts needed at the time to drag it away from M People and the like. Little did we realise they would simply make the same album continuously and progressively worse for the next 15 years. Liam (their Liam) is a fucking knob as well, in interview he's like the school bully who won the lottery. Twat.
Just think, if they'd split immediately after "What's The Story" they would be bona fide legends by now; easily Stone Roses-like status. They should have done that.
I've always thought Noel could achieve a pretty interesting solo album without the dead weight of his brother weighing down and regressing any musical idea he comes out with. He can write a tune, let's see if he can vary his style a bit.
Is still like the first two (maybe three albums). Then they went downhill very fast. I can't remember to have listened to "...shoulders of giants" more than once...
Apparaently theyve got another 'Best of' cd coming out, its called 'When We Were Good' and theres only about 4 songs on it...

Well, they did have two good songs... but I have never understood the hype, they really only have two good songs.

Eh? M People wrote some cracking tunes during the '90s. Rennaisance, How Can I Love You More?, Open Up Your Heart, Colour My Life etc etc. I'll take them over the dad-rock of Oasis any day of the week.
Just personal preference, never been a fan of M People. Her voice does my head in and I don't think it's dated all that well. Search For The Hero is cheddar on toast with Pickering's sax waffling away in the background.
I think it's reasonable to say some pretty tepid dance music was ruling the charts pre-Britpop, not to say that there wasn't lots of good dance music as well but there was a shift towards guitar bands after '94 wasn't there?
I like and hate Oasis at the same time. Anything Noel sings I just love, when Twatstick takes the mic I turn it off.
