Having read most of the Sunday papers today, the english press hardly mentioned it.......and those who did, all thought Liverpool will win.
If yer brave enough, you can have a go at predicting the score and the scorers
I'll kick it off with Celtic 3-1 Hartson (2)& Sutton, and Owen to score an away goal fer the scousers.
Sorry Shugz, but as a hardcore Liverpool fan I'm afraid you're going down.

I've got a feeling we might sneek the away win. I can't see our centre halves giving Hartson as much room as he had for his goal on Saturday even with Henchoz absent. So I don't see there being many goals in it but I think the Owen might get one.

Can't understand how Mark Lawrenson having just sat and watched us take Rangers apart still went for a Liverpool win at Parkhead. Juventus, Valencia, Porto, Celta Vigo, Stuttgart, Basel and some mob from the north of England have all visited Parkhead in the last 18 months and been beaten. Don't see why Liverpool should fare any better.
NB Celtic haven't been beaten at home in Europe sine Ajax (0-1) in August 01. Even then we were carrying a 3-1 lead from the first leg in Amsterdam so it was pretty irellevant.

I saw the Blackburn game and they absoluteely took you apart. I think the only reason it wasn't about 4-0 was they were shocked at how easy it was and started to play like it was an exhibition match and over-elaborated infront of goal, trying to score wonder goals. I think as a counter attacking side we're well equipped to win at difficult places i.e Rome. We've also won away 3 times in Europe so far this season including being I think the only ever team to beat Spartak Moscow away from home in Europe.
Aye but Hanky, we were also gash against Basle and managed to beat them 3-1 as well, even when we play shite we still manage to record wins in Europe. I think after Saturday's game, we'll go into this with plenty of confidence, the only thing I'm slightly worried about is Owen coming back to form.....but having said that, our back 3 has been immense this year, and if Owen goes anywhere near Balde, I fear he might not make it out alive
Liverpools best option will have to be balls over the top for the wee man to run onto, pace is the best option for ye's......mind you, Rangers thought that on Saturday
I reckon Celtic will win 3-1. Hartson to bag a double and Petrov to net one, with Owen replying for L'pool.

The Blackburn game (home leg) : "took you apart", "exhibition match". Your havin a laugh intcha?!!!!! As far as I recall we won the game! Then we went down there and taught them a proper footballing lesson. A 3-0 aggregate win is pretty good going for a team who were taken apart.
I know who I want to win but I have a feeling it's all coming right for Liverpool just at the wrong time!

It's getting close
Kick Off in an hour and a half. According to various sections of the press, ole Henke himself could well be back, fuckin hope so... "Like a Henrik Larsson on the Horizon, he could be fit and Celtic will be flying, he'll nutmeg all day, drive the scousers insane then he'll remove all of their pain" :D I still stick by my original prediction, but feel it could be a tight game. I think Liverpool will go with Baros up front with Owen, but I still think Heskey will play on the left, haven't heard wether he's fit yet, but I think he will play.
Should be an interesting battle in the middle with Petrov and Gerrard, Hamman and Lambert and Murphy and Lennon. But I think Celtic have the experience to settle things down at home. The crowd will be mental, just wish I could have got a ticket!

Great game people. Liverpool could have won that game but then again so could have Celtic. Can't wait for the return leg! Shugz, your boys will be firmly dismantled at Fortress Anfield ;)

Not many clear-cut chances in the 2nd half, though Larsson spurned a good chance when through on Dudek. Should be a pulsating 2nd leg next week, and I still think Celtic have a great chance of going through. What about that cretin Diouf spitting at the Celtic fans? Hopefully he will be punished accordingly.

Pretty dull game by all accounts. The second half looked like two teams playing out time. Reckon thoughts were drifting to the return leg at a very early stage.
Jamie Smith was awful, we really missed Agathe. Sutton and Larsson were firing on about 50% which didn't help matters either. All in all though I saw absolutely nothing from the scousers that would give me any concern about the second leg (2-1 Celtic AET).
As for Diouf..... an embarrasment to his club.
Agreed, a very lacklustre performance from the Bhoys after Emily had equalised. Saying that, we could have been 3-0 up after 5 minutes!
Thompson coming off was a major blow, and I agree that Larsson and Sutton were struggling in the second half. They should have brought Lambert on for Larsson earlier to give Stan the chance to get into the Liverpool box. I would also like to have seen wee Maloney get 15 minutes. We cannae all be managers I suppose
Ach well, I still believe we will go through, cos we will definitely score at Anfield
The Liverpool fans here at work havnae had too much to say, cos they know we were keich and they still never threatened us......it's all to play for, and I hope the second leg is more entertaining than the first.

3 - 0 us tonight, I reckon. 1 - 0 in the first half and us then getting stronger as Celtic tire in the 2nd half.
I reckon that no doubt you’ll baton the hatches and attempt eek out a 0-0 draw or catch em on the break and stumble it over the line which will get you thru but win over no new fans ;)
Then again you said you couldnt be beaten at home in the FA against Palace and got spanked! Celtic are a most tougher cookie to crack than them for sure!
