not watched red dragon - what's the point when you already have manhunter out there?
hanniball has to be the single most dissapointing book ever after reading silence before watching the film i wasnt that impressed with the film, but then if you read the book first you rarely are so hard for me to be subjective on this one.
watch manhunter though & read the books.

that's franken-steen! the producers is fantastic, and i enjoy spaceballs, as well ('pizza the hutt' is the best character name i've ever heard). and, although history of the world, part I wasn't a cinematic classic, i could watch it a million times.
I haven't seen Showgirls, and probably never will, but I have to think that Galaxina, with the late Dorothy Stratten, would give it a serious run for its money. Galaxina is to Spaceballs as Cannonball Run 2 is to Hamlet, and I say that as someone that barely made it through Spaceballs in the theater. As far as nauseating experiences in the theater, which are in a different class than those that can be defeated by a quick click on the remote, my personal low points are Spaceballs, Yentl (with Barbara Streisand), and the English Patient.
the english patient? i loved it! but then again, i'm a sucker for 'those kind' of films (period/historical dramas) and for ralph fiennes 
. i wept like a baby at the end.

I have The Producers on DVD, an essential buy if I do say so myself. Any MB fan who doesn't have it yet is crazy....
Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein are classics as well. Spaceballs suffers from being made TEN YEARS after the film that inspired it, but there are some good laughs. Silent Movie made me laugh as a kid, but I haven't seen it in a while. Everything else in Mel Brooks' catalogue I avoid like the plague

I thought the book Hannibal was rather good, how he worked in the factual Beast of Florence investigation and the Pazzi story. A lot of people complained about the ending being too romantic / cliched but I was quite taken with the book

jesus-colostomy bag-christ, the worst one i saw this last year (that I'd been eagerly awaiting from all the reviews) was Igby Goes Down. I haven't seen such a repulsive piece of crap in I don't know how long. watching a bunch of prissy bourgeois shit-eating pseudo-culturati new yorkers who think they ooze cleverness with every intonation is not my idea of a good 2 hours. I knew it was going nowhere when i hadn't laughed anytime during the first 1/2 hour. how i sat through all of it is a miracle to me. what a waste of good talent in that one!

i never saw Black Knight, but the other two are definitely horrible!
Black Knight is the riviting tale of a time-traveling Martin Lawrence who ends up in in 14th century England.....and all the wonderfull mayhem that he incounters....it was a real gem 
Aah, the Baldwin brothers - I think they deserve a whole category by themselves. And I probably risk being ridiculed for the rest of my existence for this, but I didn't think that Waterworld was unwatchable - c'mon, Kevin Costner with webbed feet and Dennis Hopper with bald head and eyepatch can't be that bad. Looking at all the movies mentioned above, I still think Showgirls is a clear winner. And it pains me to say that, because I'm a massive Twin Peaks fan and I still can't believe that Agent Cooper could've fallen so far.

Actually, that's just a happy coincidence - my name started out as "Push the little daisies and make em come up" from the Ween song, but as my weight started diminishing over the last month (being an alcohol and coffee free month for detox purposes) my name likewise shrunk. When I finally crack the 80kg barrier I might revert to "P". :) BTW, are you going to get the trilogy DVD when it comes out? (not trying to hijack the thread)

Ok, I agree with you on the Baldwin brothers....and as a SCUBA instructor I did find the webbed feet and the gills kinda cool in Waterworld, but come on....the movie sucked!

Lordy! what a thread. What's worse than Showgirls ? I immediately thought of Demi Moore and she's not even in it. I was thinking "Striptease", that's bad. Recently I have wasted time in front of "Blues Brothers 2000", "The Velocity of Gary" and "Dude Where's My Car".
Just how many bad Hollywood films can you make about high school jinx as the life changing Prom night approaches. This whole Prom thing has screwed up about 3 generations of Americans now.
