If you like Blow Up, you'll probably like "Deep Red" by Dario Argento.

Simple abswer for me: Stanley Kubrick (no further comments) . From today's directors, this Danish guy, Lars Von Trier is definetely a genious (Dogville was his rescent and only film he made so far in the US, his rest are european productions) .

I like quite a bit of his stuff, haven't seen everything he's done, but I'll still keep an eye out for his films. Saw She's Gotta Have It when it came out, thought that was good, School Daze only one time, on video, wasn't immediately drawn into the world of black colleges, but I need to give that one another shot.

Loved Do The Right Thing, it spelled out Spike's view of race relations quite well. Saw it twice in the opening week at two very different theaters, once in a downtown cinema where the rollicking sold out audience was 90 percent black; they loved the film, and there was audience participation, such as talking back to the screen, that I hadn't seen since Rocky Horror. The other time was at a sparsely attended showing at a suburban cinema where a few curious whites were the only ones there. Totally different experience from earlier that week.

Malcolm X is a fine film as well, Summer Of Sam had its moments, not one of my all time faves but still a decent flick. Had to go see He's Got Game cause I'd heard the PE song, plus I wanted to see how Ray Allen did in it.

I know I'm missing a couple of others, wasn't there one about phone sex operators, but I'll get to 'em when I can. I like Spike cause he makes me think about things; he may not make me change my mind, but I'll still watch his films.

25th hour is a good recent spike lee film.

the phone sex operator movie is girl 6. not one of lee's best.
