The Country's Most Obsessive Smiths fan.

I have got a quiff, but it's quite small. people stereotype us as loners who sit around in our bedrooms At home my bedroom is a shrine, plastered in posters and memorabilia. I've even got a piece of Morrissey's ripped T-shirt. I'm a postman, so I drive around picking up bits of paper I think the Smiths are still incredibly popular because they were the first indie pop band.
This is just part of the story. This guy sounds like a right Geezer.
'I have got a quiff, but it's quite small. I probably look silly, but I don't care'
It's the 'I don't care bit I like'.
Postman or train driver, its his attitude I'm fond of.

Personally I preferred THE picking up paper cos I'm a postman, credit where credit's due n all that:D
A quiff is what Elvis used to have flopping above his forehead, or alternatively what Morrissey sported heavily in the 80's.
I have a theory about post people; they are usually very good looking. Not wishing to flatter you Shugz because we've never met in the flesh tones. I would imagine you to look not dissimilar to a wolf man.

For some reason I like this answer better than the other one. And picking up bits of paper really is central to the picture.

He looks more like the fella in this picture, the one in the middle.
I had to call the refuse collectors to pay a special visit after a recent bathroom overhaul. This was meant to be a free service. You ring up the local thingies and state what you want them to remove. Anyway when they came at about 3am in the morning making noises like they were pulling the house down I had to blag them to take '1 item' that wasn't on the list. A toilet. I actually paid the bastard an extra tenner.
After I thought about it I should have shopped the little weasel because he wasn't very nice in the first place 'plus', he turned the bog upside down and left a trail of nuisance material in a line across our drive which I had to bleach and scrub up for about a month afterwards. Mind, if I rang to complain I would have had to have said, your boys have diddled me out of a tenner and they've left a trail of my own poo on me drive.

What is this paper picking deal? - didn't someone say this Smiths fan was a postman?
And isn't a ladies area called a quim and not a quiff?

It's the phrasing, H: "picking up bits of paper" does indeed make it sound like someone picking up litter. He obviously loves his job.
I'm lost. And I can't be bothered to read the article again so I'll never know now. Was he a postman? - who picks up paper - Boy George?
Hanky Panky - I've just realised you were playing a gaff and that obviously Shuttle is either the one on the left or the gentleman on the right. Which alien being is it?

The mailmen over here don't conform to your theory, H. Is the phrase "going postal" used over there?

Spot the LOWEST common denominator.
Not around these parts. I've heard a rumour that the phrase 'go large' works well when ordering burgers and fries.
Played the Interpol passage around 3:08 on T4. The on-note-hold whilst playing subtle melodies of the verse and chorus works to moving affect. I can appreciate the music.
It did not bring me to the boil, but obviously such things are very personal. And T6 is the slow one I like. I am getting a bit more into them, but then I played Strangeways this morning and I'm still in a state of shock.

HW - its got to be the boy in the middle? - the middle man, the man in the middle. The Gelfling holding onto a can of pop.
Can he do any stunts?

Going postal refers to the surprising propensity of postal workers to take a gun to work and shoot large numbers of their coworkers.
I am pleased to hear that bit on T4 does almost as much for you as it does for me. The repeated note thing seems to be one of their signature items. I listened to T6 again last night and it was better than I remembered. What about T11? She doesn't know that I left my urge in the ice-box?
The siren package hasn't arrived yet.
There are some strange lyrics abounded throughout the album, I can't tell whether they are inspired or mere guesswork. Time will tell. As Run DMC said to David Nevens; 'Play it again Sam'.
The 'note-hold' move you like is very reminiscent of certain Joy Division songs. Its a very pleasing device and quite brave. I don't really know anything at all but it seems that bands in their infancy are more likely to take the brave step of relying on very, very simple methods to convey their music but alas as the popularity grows the music becomes more predictable.
Couple of examples (which you may find similar to IP and the reason you like that bit so much):
Run, the quieting string section just before the climax. Varnishing Paint Stripper, the synth-stop after the middle-8, the bit which has a total halt of everything but the synth line broken only by the rattle of the digital snare prior to the last chorus. LMA focuses on 3 notes on the same chord - the same as IP almost. i.e. the same note is repeated whilst the melody is sort of played around it. Actually, this happens almost all of the way through the song.

There seems to be an alarming amount of idiots gunning people down in America. Some lass from Texas told me it was because there were more people in America which is why it seems there are more shootings.
So why are there not more in China then?
Ban guns - its a start, and hardly a revolutionary idea. Remove the weapon and you can't shoot it. Some of these shootings seem entirely random so if the random gun is not around it cannot be shot. The right to bear arms is quite pathetic. Where do you stop, the right to own your own missile factory? - exactly what is the difference? - loss of life is irreversible.
Anyway, the only destructive thing our postman does is hand our letters to the wrong place consistently, but he is rather dashing.

I think "I left my urge in the ice-box" is brilliant. Of course "We have two hundred couches" has been much commented on.
I'm sure you're right about the law of diminishing braveness.
Have you listened to the Retro LMA yet?
I think you're right to note resemblances between LMA and PDA. Run is something I don't listen to very much. I will try to check out your points about that and VP.
I do like their lyrics Pat - I'd noticed the couch line (I hadn't read comment on it) and the ice box. Have yet to make sense of it all though, it that's possible.
I don't want to spoil The Smiths chances Potential Pastie Consumer but really, if we're all very honest with ourselves, Morrissey's pen must have been blessed.
Life's so short, to fear being randomly gunned down is beyond comprehension; and its so utterly depressing it makes my skin crawl.
Remember, I love all - animals, minerals and certainly vegetables.

Different varieties of love? Do you have any recommendations for vegetables to go in soup, H?
