i respect your tastes in music, ricardo. but that´s a mistake IMHO. maybe is the "we´re shite and all the rest is good" syndrome. that happens a lot in south american countries. and it´s wrong because we have great talents. people that make tours around the world and are respected everywhere but in their countries. as you get older you start valorating some of these artists. but it may be too late. like argentinians with Piazzolla....

No way dude, you can ask me in ten, twenty, fifty years, and always I will tell you the same thing. I don't like (or dislike) a certain artist just because they born in a particular country. Do I have to like Brazilian artists just because I born in Brazil as well?

look, i know you brazilians for a long long time (nearly all my life) and i just keep hearing from you guys again and again how shitty your culture is or your artists or your music. i keep hearing it from argentinians all the time too. but it seems you´re even harder to yourselves than we are (and that´s a lot). and i can´t understand it because IMHO Brazil is the country that have produced most of the greatest artists of the continent (USA and Canada included) in the 20th century.

i do think you guys need to be more open minded. you have to open your ears to the music and leave the predjuices behind. and you´ll find a lot of beauty quite near you. it´s cool to love new order (i do) but.... what else?

and don´t worry, i will ask you in 30 years (i hope we still be friends and alive ;) ) and i bet you´ll say i was right.... i really hope so

the lambada! i remember that! what a piece of sh*t!!! if you want to listen to some brazilian music i think you should start for the classics from the bossa nova to the mpb (brazilian popular music). if you are interested i could recommend some stuff... do you like some jazz from time to time? or do you like good rhythm with a lot of percussion? or both? or none?!?!?!? :D

that could be a good game. tell us what you like or what would you like to hear and we could recommend artists from this side of the world (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia, Perú, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Paraguay). come on! ask us! don´t be shy!

La Ley (Chile), any of their albums (especially the first ones), go here Aterciopelados (Colombia), with highs and lows their first albums are the best, click here Caifanes (Mexico), no longer exists but El Nervio del Volcán may be their best album Legião Urbana (Brasil), maybe the most british-80s-pop-rock oriented of brazil ever, check here

i liked the first 3 albums of them. they used to play ska ala madness or selecter. it was funny, danceable and pretty well played. suddenly they made a turn and started to play some salsa, rumba and other latin styles mainly influenced by Rubén Blades and Celia Cruz. but IMHO you must be very good to play these things and they´re not. nevertheless they had a couple of good songs of that era. check their english site http://www.fabulosos-cadillacs.com/
