i have a two disc comp of brazilian stuff... there is some good stuff on their but i'll be damned if i can remember any of the names. i know that my favorite song on the entire comp is called "piaui" and the guys sings in some english: "hey hey, gee gee. take me back to piaui"

but tell me. he´s important or he just is a cover´s singer? ´cause i´ve never heard of him in my whole life! 
he was big in the late 60's and early 70's. he had a big hit up here called "Mais Que Nada" but the rest of his hits came from Beatles covers and doing other late-60's pop songs.
isn't Flora Purim from Brasil? i know Aierto is from Argentina, but I think Flora is Brasilian.
Only Brazilian album that I have is the one by Suba, Sao Paolo Confessions, which is a fave of mine.
I'm Brazilian and my favorite Brazilian band is Pato Fu. They have even covered Love Vigilantes. It really worths a listen.

oh, yeah. i forgot about that one too. they´re from Minas Gerais, right? about that version. i have a live cover of LV by them. is this the only one avaible or is there a studio version somewhere?

I said that tongue-in-cheek, but actually it's not that far from reality. There are only two Brazilian groups that I would spend my money on. The first one is Violeta de Outono, a psychedelic rock group that could be described as a cross between Pink Floyd and Echo & The Bunnymen. The other one is Harry, Brazilian best electronic group ever. "Fairy Tales", their first album, is a true masterpiece that is a must to hear.
I never liked Brazilian music. Believe me, I'm not the only one here that thinks that way.

Andrei is a great fan of Secos e Molhados (Dry and Wet in english) he confided to me that he dances like Ney Matogrosso till today
