That's one for Tim, but I will say this, each band you add not only adds set time to the night, it adds setup time to the day, not mention the increased chance of one or more members of the un-hired help suffering breakdowns.

It would be great to have Glasnost there as well, but Alejo would have to find a way of financing his flights, the money this thing makes is going to charity.
Realistically, no fooker will turn up if you have a whole bunch of bands who mean fook all to most of the people there. Law of geography dictates that most of the people there will be British, and many of them will either know the UK contingent from NO, Re: Order or Digital gigs. It simply won't sell if you have the like of Tomakazi or whatever their name is, sending everyone to sleep with the new Slowdive. Each band we add to the roster shortens the set for everyone, and creates more work for the resident knob twiddler and the humper crew.
Re: Order will undoubtedly be the biggest draw there, they have been playing gigs up and down the country to good crowds for some time now, everyone knows them and knows you have a good time at their gigs. Digital can be relied on to play you a load of JD stuff accurately and throw in a bunch of NO stuff as well (and we even play everything live!), and we all know that Flight are a well-known and very highly regarded band who will provide some original material. Jack's band will offer the youth policy a chance to shine, and I am looking forward to seeing them (not least to see Jack's bass rig!)
Where this will differ from the likes of Community is that it won't be a bunch of guys with bedroom computers pressing buttons and producing nice poppy twiddly sounds, it will be real live bands playing real live (and mimed ) music, which doesn't lend itself to having loads of bands each doing one song or whatever.
For example, if we assume that Hooky's DJ set starts at 11pm-1am, Re: Order (or whichever band gets the last slot) would be coming on at 9.30ish for about 80 mins, whoever precedes them would be on at 8.15 for an hour, whoever precedes them would be on at 7.30 for 45 mins, and the band before them at 6.45 for half an hour. It's already become an early start with just four bands playing average length sets!
Plus if my band does end up playing I could always ask my dad to replace me on a new order track 
Or we just get everyone on stage at the end of the last set and invite Hooky to lead us off in a bass frenzy!

Those changeover times are without having to re-mic a kit BTW 
There are ways to do faster turnarounds on multiband gigs, but the cost $$$$$

Aha! Flight don't use a drum kit, and us and Re: Order tend to share drum kit and some backline when we play together (or at least have done on three occasions in the past). Presumably Twatto drums?

The best you'll get out of Glasnost is Sophia singing live over pre-recorded music, and it seems pretty evident she won't be able to make it as they are moving to Crete with Elias as we speak, those of you doing Ejekt might have to convinced her
It's obvious it's more for UK bands, and I have no idea which bands actually perform live.
Probably Flight and Captain Black. I don't know if kREMLIN does live gigs, there are the Importers. The other bands from the UK are not even semi-pro, so I doubt they would do it.
Just giving ideas, I won't stand in the way of the lineup ;)

For those who are not aware of it.
Somebody just gave me the hint... flights from Montreal to London just got 200$ cheaper.
My flights are.....Free no really, I just pay all the stealth charges. What a fucked up pricing model that is eh?

Feel a strong urge to start asking hard questions, but there's plenty of time for that right? :D to relieve the pressure I have to let this out though, fart-style.
If we could settle for a single electric drumkit, we'd save buckets in cash and complication. One electric and one accoustic would be OK, 13 bands with accoustic kits 18 percussion players and a brass section each would be decidedly non-optimal ;)
My band might be up for playing, don't know how to describe out sound - I'm on bass [distorted/tuned to dgcf/hooked up to an effects pedal] and vocals [for the cover songs - LWTUA by JD and All The Day by the Kinks] and my friend on drums. We don't have a drumkit though, so that's the only setback, can do a 20-30 minute set if you want.
BTW...i woulld Like to assure the bands (particularly in light of re:order's traumatic experience), that while I can do nothing to prevent the likes of Liam, Col and Nick, seizing the mic...i have a fucking foolproof plan to get rid of them for you sharpish

ive always invaded stages whenever possible at any gigs,and for one,will order likes it and i NEVER go near the mic or get in the way of the playing.and your ken bates style electric fence wont stop me for a start steve

Dunno bout how long, thats OM's turf...but if u go on first, we soundcheck you last.....works a treat that way, you walk on to the same mixer settings you walked off from....less work for crew, probably a better sounding opening song or two, and ReOrder and Digital have to show up earlier than you

Not at all - we do have some respect you know! Hooky will have his own dressing room and space. The bands are all professional in approach to the music, and there will be a backstage area where only those actually involved in playing and organising will be allowed. Plus, we will be inviting Sarge!

Depends on how many bands agree to participate, but I would expect about half an hour, maybe 40 mins. Most JD gigs were that length!

You misinterpret me a bit Al - the backstage will be no different to places like the Underworld or similar, just a dressing room for the bands. We even had one at the Roadhouse, and I suppose you could call the cupboard at the side of the Hope and Anchor stage a backstage area! I wasn't for one second meaning some kind of elite area. All gigs have somewhere the bands go to after they have finished playing, even it's just for 30 seconds! You rarely see any band, including Re: Order, finishing their set and walking offstage into the crowd!
