Yeah, Jack told me it was probably another Manchester v Cancer gig.

Should have the venue sorted by the weekend, I will of course put details up here when I do. It'll be in London, and is well-known! (and no it isn't a big tent anymore)
Without wishing to put the proverbial cat amongst t'pigeons, we get an absolute max of 20 people from here turn out for Re-order gigs, roughly the same 20 would show for Digital and again, as has been proved time and time again in London, the same 20 again for Hooky dj sets.
In all seriousness, how many are we expecting for NewOrderOnline day?!
And why are any additional people suddenly coming out because it's a "day out associated with a website" when they never ever make an effort if it's just (a) Re-order, (b) Digital or (c) Hooky?
There will obviously be an additional groundswell of the Northern Order attending Wemberlee then perhaps stopping darn sarf before heading off to Wolves, but that's not gonna number more than another 20 again, surely? Barney Army, Liam, ATR, the Thomases, etc.
So, are we confident of getting the numbers in?

surely this is the paradox of 'NOOL day' - the monicker implies exclusivity but economics (and maths!) would necessitate a wider market. but then, who is the day for? I would have thought the best that could be expected would be something like the pre-match turnouts at brixton and peel day... perhaps double that, as everyone has a mate or partner who they might want to come. and then a low - medium sized venue doesn't seem so sparsely occupied. venues of the size and suitability of dublin castle, clockwork, dingwalls, bloomsbury bowl ...etc would seem to me to be of the appropriate scale.
and Al, I agree with your assumption that the entertainment on board won't generate 3 sets of turnout merely the same potential turnout with 3 times as much to entertain them. it's hard to know whether it's the collective interest of the board that has brought the event to this point and 6 pages of discussion or merely the enthusiasm of a handful of altruistically intended individuals - however, any roll call is going to be misleading and probably bury the idea. I believe that if it's going to happen then, once it's scheduled as part of that weekend's social action, it develops some of its own momentum but the risk involved means that the ambitions of the size of the event be tempered slightly.
I would also suggest that this is really 'NOOL night' as nobody is going to want to spend too much of the day in a venue. and the NOOLday aspect applies to the 5-a-side football that should be resurrected. or just a mass kickabout in hydepark!

If I am able to go, I'll bring the cards&whistle & ref it
But, Grahme Poll I am not - thankfully :barf:
Al: there's probably quite a few of us 'abroad' considering doing this & the Wembley date - I won't know if I can do it 'till September, but I'm hopefull

Nail well and truly hit on head! All we need is somewhere that will look busy with 100 and rammed with 200 just in case we get some special guests dropping in. Footy is very much part of the plan still, that doesn't require the same degree of organisation as a gig though, hence the greater emphasis at this stage on the gig.
i reckon the UK tour should generate enough interest in the online get together to pack a venue of at least 200 especially if the hook-meister is spining the discs.
i reckon i'll be bringing a few chums along if it goes ahead.
what kind of music does PH play on his DJ sets?

I'd love to come to all the aforementioned, but as you so rightly point out..........time and time again in LONDON: it's not that easy you know Al!!! Half of the time, it is midweek; I struggle enough to get away at weekends, as I am sure some other Larndarner will confirm.....
Family then work in that order, have to come first; that's just the way it is. Wherever the location.
It's unlikely I can make NOOL; and more than likely Wembley; and I think its pretty obvious I wont be going to Wolves now..........doesnt make me a lesser fan of NO though....does it?

Already in my cable bag (which will become a decent flightcase by then I hope). best way to keep muso's in good soundchecking order, short of a batton gun. Got the idea from one of our lecturers who ran an 18 piece jazz orchestra....he sent the horns OFF one night LOL.
At the risk of resurrecting any Shed vs Live Gigs stuff: I am really looking forward to this (footy and evening both)... Will definitely be there and if anyone wants to send me a contract to rpove that:

Yes indeed, i will be dragging my ass not only to the brown isle but to LONDINIUM for new order related festivities. And I'm chuffed to be able to do my bit for y'all.
Steve (feeling sane today ;) )
BTW, in case yer all wondering why no technobabble, I already know what needs doing, once I get an idea of the venue I will have a final battleplan.
Was thinking, it may be a good plan to flyer the crap out of the preceding gigs, especially wembley (in the hope of local casuals or fans in the big smoke for the weekend)

I love the way you lot can turn this around.
Doesn't make you a lesser fan of NO?! Where. Did. That. Come. From?!
This is about NewOrderOnline day, not New Order.
And that day is basically about (1) Hooky deejaying, (2) Re-order playing, and (3) Digital playing. And whilst the latter two will basically do it for free, Hooky will expect a fee. Whether is goes to charidee, or not, there will surely have to be a fee. Which means you need a fair few more people from here to attend in order that this fee gets paid and our organisers don't run at a loss. Simple economics. Which is why I asked whether they could be sure they're guaranteed the numbers?!
Al's right, about the ecconomics and the fact that those of us who feel a bit put upon, shouldn't bring it into NOOLday. Rise above it, everyone.
We might, if the venue is small enough, be able to do without a full size PA, instead using just a vocal system. Wouldn;t be ideal certainly, but it'd save money. (and I would have a relaxing day...it's not possible to make hard work of a 2 channel vocal PA).
Well, I've been away for a bit, but on parole again, so able to join in. I'd definitely go along, especially if it's a London thing. Willing to help in any way and I'm sure I could muster a group of at least 5 paying punters to come with me.
:)
for sheer fookin tenacity I hope this comes off for Timbo, I'm aware that others are puttin in time and effort, however I'm also aware of the work Tim has put in before now. More power to the lad, this time it looks in his grasp and I wish him well . Best wishes to all concerned .
Would like to be involved in a cowbell capacity ( no rider ..... unless y'all insist :D )
GaryMac re-dux
I'm starting to have some bad feelings about this.
Last trip I did maxed the credit cards and I still owe money about it. October is only in 3 months, I'm not sure I'll be able to raise enough money for this unless I do a loan or something... ![]()
I'll do what I can... I figure I'd need something near 2000$ to do a 5 days trip and hotel, still a lot of money, I'll try my best!
Oh well...
Trust me Nicos my friend, you cannot POSSIBLY be as financially screwed as I am. October has gone from my big holiday with a bulging wallet to being very much scraped together.
You just worry about getting your ass to London, you'll be taken care of I am quite sure. Would seem a bit daft, NOOLday sans M. NOOL.

I'm not that screwed.. I just spend way too much.
Don't worry Nic, I'll buy you a beer. If you're lucky, I'll get you a glass to put it in...
Seriously, if you can make it over then yes, I'm sure that collectively we'll take care of you :)

Thanks, but it's coming pretty fast and I have high doubts I'll be able to get the money for this unless I lend it to somebody... :(
I'm still paying for last month's vacation... I'll do what I can, because I really want to do this once while it's still possible, you never know when New Order will retire :(
Ok - This is the first post I have made on this subject.
I will of course be attending anything that's on offer. If there's footy involved I will bring my whistle, flags, cards and Ivanov attitude.
But time's marching on. I'm going to Wembley on the Friday and Wolverhampton on the Sunday. If there's nothing going on in between I intend to make a weekend of it in Wolvo and so need to book b&b and stuff.
I know these things take a lot of organising, and it sounds like bleating when I've done nowt, but I think now a decision needs to be made soon as to whether this is going to happen, and if so where and in what form.
Sorry if this post rubs anybody up the wrong way - it wasn't meant to do so, but I think that if nothing happens soon even the hardcore will have alternative arrangements to make.
Quite simply, I am waiting for a answer from the preferred venue to see if they are prepared to buy into the idea that it is a charity event, and thus to not expect the usual promoter references and bond upfront. If they are prepared to accept what we are trying to do, that we aren't bona fide promoters but a website trying to do something for the community of fans and for charity, then it will be taking place in London on Saturday 28th October.
However, if the venue's managing company are insistent that to host an event, they require financial guarantees from a promoter, including a bond up front and two references (and the bond to be drawn on a company account) then we are faced with either appealing to a promoter to undertake the job (which would almost inevitably mean that they want a cut, thus either reducing the charity contribution or increasing the ticket cost to you, the punter), or trying to choose an alternative venue. At this stage, that may prove a bridge too far.
Goodwill and enthusiasm aren't enough in this game.
Did you get any further response from Rebecca, Spotnick?
ummm, not being funny Tim but I secured a venue in Manchester way back for this for the princely sum of..fuck all. All we had to do was cover bar staff wages. Hindsight eh?
Anyway, since the SHed surfaced we need 2 parties....to stop the violence...and knife attacks ![]()

Pompey Order came up with the cracking idea of 'Viking Boxing' over the weekend. You know, like white collar boxing, where offices fight one another.
Said we should do it at the last UK gig, but perhaps we should have it on the Saturday instead?! Draw in the punters?
We've already got the first couple of bouts lined up.
Me vs Pompey Order. Cos he's a cnut. And he deserves a slap. And if I ever see his face again it'll be too soon.
Then the Highbster vs Gordie. ![]()
Anyone else up for it?!
This was all said with my tongue firmly in cheek, obviously.
Well, except for the bit about Pompey Order. He is a cnut.

A Weekend in Wolverhampton? Bloody hell.
Anyway, as I have a new job, too celebrate I might make a weekend of it in that London, so if anyone wants to put me up on the friday and saturday they are more than welcome to. ![]()
