David Potts offered to play, he's releasing a new album around that time, so it's pretty logic for him.
He said Hooky would probably join him for a number or two... 
So I think it's time to settle a venue... I'm getting more frustrating as time goes by because I feel I'll miss it damn it 
would have been a super birthday present.
Strangely enough, I'm well aware that it is time to settle a venue. You try telling the venues in this country that we are trying to put on a charity gig - they won't touch it as we aren't promoters, don't have a company cheque book on which to pay deposits etc, and don't have promoter references.
Now if Alan Wise was to get involved, we may have some clout, but until he comes back to me we are in limbo.
Oddly enough I was thinking about Mr Wise as an option the other day. Even if he could simply underwrite it for us....shut the venue up without actually long-term parting with any of his folding money.
I SAID London venues were cash whores now didn't I :)

Which is precisely what I was after!
I don't mind sinking some of me own cash into this at all, but all things considered, I'm hardly in much of a position to offer bucket loads.
What type of money are they after?
I'm happy to put in for the noolday whip-round, even though I don't think I'll be able to make it.
Alternatively is it too late to change the location? Rather than see it go tits up completely?

When I was working, I had to put money in to whip-rounds for annoying gits when they left,(even though I hated them)
Glad I do not have to do that any more.
And I'd much rather try and help out with something cool, that I still hope to go to, however unlikely that seems with circumstances right now.

but i'd never put money into a NOOL day if i weren't gonna be there. just don't make any sense. good intentions M, but a total head scratcher to me.

Some of this clearly isn't getting through......it's not about money at all. The majority of venues will only deal with promoters, and we aren't promoters! They want a deposit (not a problem) on a company cheque (problem) before they will even start talking.
I do have a cunning plan though, and this should come through by this weekend.

I've got a Ltd company, and cheque book. You can use that if its it all you need. Want the dosh in my account beforehand though

My band has got together a little setlist - that we would like to play at NOOL day.
Tim or anyone from Re: Order, do you want us to tell you which New Order/Joy Division songs we are thinking of covering, so we don't all end up playing the same thing, or does that not matter?
I think we are only gonna play like 8 songs anyway - 6 covers and 2 originals.
Anyway let me know please :)
Doesn't really matter what you play Jack, there will be so much overlap with the songs between your band, Flight, Digital and Re: Order. I suppose the audience will be expecting this anyway!
We'll be doing what I guess will predominantly be a JD set that may see a couple of NO songs thrown in, and Re: Order will be asked to do a predominantly NO set to try and alleviate the duplication, but I suppose this is likely to be one audience where it matters a bit less!
By all means let me know what you are planning to do though, chances are that none of the other bands will be doing them if they are more back-catalogue and not greatest hits. We tend to mix it up a bit on the JD stuff, and Re: Order do some of the album tracks only NO stuff as well as all the favourites. We like to think that there's a good balance.

Sorry, should have made myself clearer, I know the score regarding what you need to pull off here. But the time will come when petty ( or not so petty) cash is needed, that's what I was on about. Didn't mean to muddy the waters.

Would love to make it to NOOL Day but need to know, how much its going to cost - would pay upfront if necessary and the venue in London. I'm 99.9% certain to be there as due to work commitments I don't think I can do Hooky's DJ set in Lewisham this weekend and I wouldn't mind checking out Digital re:order etc. Cheers
