The bands are all professional in approach to the music, and there will be a backstage area where only those actually involved in playing and organising will be allowed. Plus, we will be inviting Sarge!

Exclusive backstage areas?!

All starting to look rather elitist.

Heaven forbid that any of the artistes involved would denigrate themselves to mix with the hoi polloi.

You misinterpret me a bit Al - the backstage will be no different to places like the Underworld or similar, just a dressing room for the bands. We even had one at the Roadhouse, and I suppose you could call the cupboard at the side of the Hope and Anchor stage a backstage area! I wasn't for one second meaning some kind of elite area. All gigs have somewhere the bands go to after they have finished playing, even it's just for 30 seconds! You rarely see any band, including Re: Order, finishing their set and walking offstage into the crowd!

Er, Tim, I think I've been to enough gigs in the past to understand just how a backstage area works but as half of the NOOLers attending this event will be with bands anyways that leaves half of the attendees in an exclusion zone, and the rest of us just being mug punters.

I'd hope that rather less than half the attendees would be in the bands! If we've only got 28 people in then we might as well forget it! Safe to say that those who are in bands playing at this will not be staying backstage all night, everyone else will be front stage so why would they want to? I don't think anyone will be desperate to hang round Hooky, well maybe Jimbo :evil4: will, but we'll all be looking to have a good time the same as everyone else there, surely?

It had certainly never occurred to me that there might be some perception of an elite area or an exclusion zone, that's not what we want at all. I don't think being in a tribute band entitles anyone to an elite area!

Having said that, I'm putting razor wire, watch towers and machine gun nests round the mixer. Beer+mixer=no money for charity.

Tim, it's slowly crystalizing in my mind that there is a time to listen to Al, as he often speaks a great deal of sense....and there is a time to realise that he is bored and no-one offline is available to have their chain yanked :D

Besides if Al wants to go and sit in a broom cupboard that stinks of piss with you guys and R:o fair play to him

Well, I for one am really looking forward to NOOL day :thumb:

Should be a good day, if only for the look on Liam's face if my band plays a song by........... :evil4:

I don't know how it is in England, but in Chicago, people just kept staring at Hooky instead of dancing

It was surreal.

New York wasn't that different, except with the likes of Interpol being there.

Charidee gig man...Latvian Lager and Venezuelan vodka all round :D

I must admit I'm really excited about this, now as long as I can go the next 5 months without adding to the list of folks who (quite deservedly for the geater part) owe me a smack in the teeth  Not like i'll be hard to find...follow the wires

I'm almost certainly gonna be off the sauce tho so I should be able to dodge all but the most determined :D

Seems I managed to find a way to go there, but it's going to cost me a MAC to the missus... :skeptic:

As I said, it's my birthday there...

Seems likely I'll travel alone and try to find very cheap places to stay.

Luckily, I think I'm good on beer, I think everybody on this website told me they would pay me a beer in the last 5 years , and the only ones who did are WenOrder and Al Jarvis yet ;)

Well, its mainly financial considerations.

I'm probably going to have another Morrissey tour to do, at £30 a time, at least. The Cure may be playing again, I expect the Pet Shop Boys to tour and all kinds of random and stupid things that Alex will persuade me to do.

Plus, I am hoping to get abroad at some point this year. And theres always next years festivals as well...

Then again, see how I feel on the day. Everyone needs to see Digital at least once in there lives, and Re: Order is always fun. But wont stay to see the old man spin records.

Is this not the same Liam who berated a certain 16 year old for NOT being able to find 600 notes for P**** J** at the drop of a hat?!

If I *really* wanted to go to NOOL day, so much so that i spent every waking hour on this board moaning how I couldnt get tickets, I would find a way to go, whether it cost me £6 or £6000. However, to me, its totally dispensable, and there are things coming up which I woudl rather do.

Actually we probably will need a couple of roadies for the event, so anyone interested (who has some knowledge of what they are doing) let me know!

So it's got fcuk all to do with 'financial considerations' as I'm presuming you'll be in the London area anyways.

You just can't be fcut!

Not like you not to be blunt, Liam.

What do you take us for, Tim?! :nono:

(*) Oh, and for supplying drugs and whores, natch.

That's what the artistes are for ;)

Seriously tho, if the bands do their own backline, there's not a terrible amount of pluggin left to do.

OK that's a bare faced lie, but a coupla well informed folks can do the main PA wiring in under an hour.

Call me crazy, but am I the only one who thought this thing might be getting better each minute? Check that out:

Cool! I spoke to Hooky today about djing and about a Monaco reunion for the next cancer benefit gig which we both really wanna do! So may see you at the launch. Cheers, Pottsy.

:jawdrop:

Er... did I get it wrong or did we just get a nice little addition to the list of bands playing? or is he talking about ANOTHER cancer benefit gig? :skeptic:

BTW, this was posted on my myspace page.
