These days, I find myself skipping right through TBTHOG, though I played it to death upon its release.

Confusion again.

Easy - "Blue Monday". Like I said in a post last week on another topic, I agree it is one of the most historically important songs of the 80's for bringing new styles to the forefront on the dance floor in particular. Listening to it today, though, it's quite simple and musically / melodically underdevolped to my ears. Not that I dislike it, or anything, I guess. It does bother me when I go to 80's nights at clubs and it's guaranteed that "Blue Monday" will show up before they close. At least BLT and LWTUA are almost as guaranteed!

In case I didn't get the message over first time:

True Faith

F*****g dull, bland, poppy sh**e.

Its got to be Blue Monday its played at every gig and its best left out of the set to make way for something else even though it was the first New Order single I ever bought at the tender age of 13.

Blue Monday is not overrated, it suffers from too much exposure...

I'm sick and tired of hearing it.. but when I listen to a cover, with a different spirit, I like it...

Hum, that was said before, I know

Personally, I think New Order themselves vastly over-rated '60 miles an hour' as being good enough to be released as a single.

Otherwise, I've never understood the the appeal of 'Confusion'; it bears none of the NO hallmarks and it's just, eh, Confusion. The remixes don't do much for it either.

To say that 'Blue Monday' or 'True Faith' are over-rated is heresy. I agree with Spotnick that the mixes for 'Blue Monday' continuously reinvigorate the song (as do those for 'True Faith' - in fact I think 'True Faith' is my favourite song - ever!)

I agree totally. Very weak choice. But then, they could have released "Slow Jam"...

Do you think they pick their own singles or do faceless record company execs do it for them?

Hmm, possibly "The Perfect Kiss". Top song, but there are others I prefer.

nope...no way...uh-uh. The 12" version of TPK is a true masterpiece.

My vote goes for Crystal...never did care much for this one.

Personally I'd pick "Crystal" over "TPK". Aren't opinions just great? :D

Difficult one to call, this, as various songs have gone in and out of my faves over a period of time.

I've never had the affection for True Faith that some people seem to have, though. Vanishing Point is another one that I don't rate as highly as some. This is quite different to "most hated" though, isn't it ?

There are a few:

Blue Monday - cos i'm sick to fucking death of hearing it and countless different versions/parodies/etc of it.

Dream Attack - i dunno why so many people think this is their finest tune, I find it really bland and unimaginative.

True Faith - great pop song - if a little too obvious. BUT the reason I nominate it is cos it suffers from the same re-re-re-re-re-re-re-release syndrome as BM.

Let's Go instrumental - it's badly produced for a start. I prefer the vocal version that came out in 1995 as part of the 1963 single but I know many people hate it.

Crystal - it's pretty ordinary really, isn't it?

New Order are just sooo popular aren't they. I mean their songs get played non-stop on the Radio, and everbody whistles along with True Faith.

Not so, sorry. There are no overrated NO songs. You could ask what their worst songs are. Ah no yes well hasn't that been done a few times.

For my meaning at overrrated look at Creed.

Cheers

Without a doubt for me... Temptation  It's a fantastic song, but I'm certainly over it. _

:banghead: that's 4 out of 5 of the reasons I listen to New Order. I actually agree with you on the other one.

Touched By The Hand Of God in my opinion It's a too easy song. Music not balanced, lyrics are poor. And making a song about a cheating goal.. is this all there is ? A lot of people love this easy listing song, so overrated for me.

TPK, easily. Boring track.

TPK isn't boring. There's much more in this song you didn't hear easely.

1963 - it just always seemed dull and I always skip over it. Fine time - why was this ever put as the first track on Technique? At least Dream Attack closes the album. Why do people dislike Confusion so much? I actually think that the '87 version makes a swell dance track. Speaking of mixes, does anyone think that "Shame of the nation" sounds a lot like the theme from Ghostbusters? Or is it just me? I heard it played in a club on Halloween and I immediately thought that shame of the nation sounded quite similar.
