It's a bit slow these days, I guess it's time to start a little debate...

This thread is to nominated the song from New Order you think is the most overrated, you just don't get why people rate it so high...

Maybe this will end up in a poll someday!

Go ahead, and of course, explain why!

That's what I tought at first, but that's an overplayed song, not an overrated one. "Blue Monday" was innovative, groundbreaking and the original version still sounds fresh. Of course everybody here is tired of this song, but it doesn't mean it's overrated.

An overrated song? True Faith.

An overrated song? True Faith. True Faith is their second best song, behind Temptation. Blue Monday is an overrated song. It's a rather good song, but it it nowhere near their best work

 True Faith is their second best song, behind Temptation. I knew it was going to be controversial. Okay Tristan, what's so wonderful about "True Faith"?

Angelinos usually know of Blue Monday because of Orgy; none of my friends when I lived in the Valley knew who NO were, except for one friend who loved True Faith

so let me see if I get this right...blue monday is overrated because of Orgy's wretched cover???

that's some slightly flawed logic...

it was a groundbreaking song when released...it still sounds fresh today...when it does play on the radio, I still get chills and have to turn the stereo all the way up...I can't think of to many other 20 year old songs that can inspire that...but then, that's just my opinion!!!

I have no doubts myself that the answer is TPK...

That's not what I said; I think it's overrated because the musical quality is not as good as my favorite songs: "True Faith", "Temptation", "Vanishing Point", "EGG", and "Age of Consent"

Temptation is ok, but seems to be a tad repetative after while...Regret is great, but seems to have worn thin on me....

Please don't hurt me...:uhoh:

I'm sure Al Jarvis will agree with you on that one!

Thieves Like Us...

Don't get me wrong, it's a fine music track, but the vocals are horrible... plus cheesy lyrics...!

Vicious Streak. some even said it´s the best GR song! for me it´s the last one, and fighting with Such A Good Thing and Chemical for the worst NO song ever IMHO. well, maybe not that much!

well, in fact WIM was Number 1... if that´s not overrate a song then i don´t know what is! :nonono:

Without a shadow of a doubt, True Faith. Bland. Poppy. For me the watershed after which NO lost all consistency (with the honourable exception of Technique).

taking a risk here; Al's probably gonna send a second lot of assassins :nervous: but I have to say : REGRET

True Faith.

I mean, I do genuinely like it but it never ceases to amaze me the plaudits it gets. It's just a catchy pop song, end of story, nothing particularly ground-breaking or amazing about it. Sadly, the new live version is a stinker, mind.

CONFUSION is the one that baffled me for years.Although i have warmed to it lately with the numerous versions i have listened to and bought. But i used to think this was way OVER-RATED!

I quite agree. In particular the 87 version is a non-song.

(Koma & Bones versions are nicely crunchy though!)
