This stuff about Ian's dancing is interesting. Deborah Curtis wrote that his dancing at a party before they were married was very similar to his eventual on-stage dancing, so it is likely that he believed that was how to dance (:)). Other factors though :
* Ian was known to be interested in the hypnotic trance-dances of Japanese mediums and Shinto religion, and may have been trying to use his dance to draw the viewer in. This may be looking at this with hindsight though, and putting two and two together.
* Ian was obsessed with epilepsy, far before he actually developed epileptic-like symptoms himself. The brain scans he had in 1979 and 1980 proved he did not actually have a recognisable (at the time, research has improved somewhat over the years) form of epilepsy. I am a firm believer that he was triggering the fits he undoubtedly suffered. He had learned how fits surfaced and how to deal with them, and knew that a combination of lighting, dancing and various solvents could trigger an extreme short-term physical reaction. He danced the way he did because it allowed him to have the fits. Once he had begun this though, he was vulnerable to them and couldn't escape them.

Yeah.He took care of a lady who suffered from epilepsy and died a few months later.It seems that she inspired him to write She's Lost Control.

I think she was one of his regular clients when he worked at the DHSS or whatever it was in Macclesfield (or Manchester), rather than his taking care of her. Staff in such an office would see dozens of clients a day.
