who is the better dancer

As a result of a prvious thread the pope put it to me to start this poll. Both Barney and Ian have a very interesting dance. I always claim Barney to be my dance teacher. :) is that for e?

All you who think Barney's a better dancer are full of shit. From a theatrical perspective, it's the difference between Artaud (JD) and Brecht (NO)...but without the brains of either of them. One draws you into the music, and the other distances you from it. Also, one has some relevance to the music (dead fly) and the other has...well, I suppose some relevance still, but much less (drug-addled fat man).

And them's my dos centavos. Merry hollandaise.

Which do you value more, staged theatrics or pure expression?

Ian's dance is more or less connected to the fact he was ill, whereas Barney's meant that he's having a good time (remember, he didn't dance in the early days), so saying Ian was a good dancer would be somewhat macabre. Not that Barney is a good dancer, but his dance has a feel-good element to it. One question: at what exact poind did Ian start doing the Dead Fly, before or after his seizures began ?

As audiences grew more accustomed to his dance, they grew to expect seizures onstage. Hence, why the lyrics of a song like Atrocity Exhibition (which appeared in mid-1979) are so damn creepy.
