I seem to recall that the offending article was in 'Smash Hits' and was accompannied by a picture of a rather pissed Barney accompanying some young lady to his chalet. Anyone else remember this or am I imagining it all?

Here's the lyric. Maybe we can get to the bottom of it as if this were poetry class. Some kind of sick and twisted poetry class but you get the drift.
I've been waiting to hear your voice for too long now One way conversations do not work somehow Tell me how does one get your soul in touch with the one above When one way conversations pay a price for the use of love I tried so hard last night you would not talk to me I live with the fear of the few with the gift And I know what's going to be Why did you never speak my name in front of my family You gave a gift that you then took away Like you never did before Your name might be God but you don't say that much to me Your name might be God but you don't say that much to me We might be your black sheep But you forgot us a long time ago We might be your lost sheep But it's time you remembered us now As we spend our days together, nothing can go wrong No one told the truth about it because it was so strong If you ever think of me, if you hear my name If you read between the lines, you'll hang your head in shame These ??? ears will never hear, the ice will never freeze Whatever I have done for you I did because you complained
what makes me think this is a family issue and not a love issue is the lines "We Might Be your Black Sheep and We Might Be Your Lost Sheep/ But it's time you remembered US now." The rest of the sone is from an individual standpoint, expressing displeasure at the way they have been treated by this other person. Then near the end, it changes to "We" and "Us" that makes me think the speaker must be very closely related to others he's including. I thought i read that it was about his father and that sort of deals with the hurt that instigated the name changing in the late 70's/early 80's,
Procession, Sunrise, Primitve Notion. = Evolution
i love those three songs. they all sound like they are coming from same angle. Would make an amazing run in a live show.

In a recent(ish) thread someone pointed out to me that "Procession" was actually written by Steve. Maybe he's religious/got parental issues/shagging groupies too.
This thread semms to be getting a bit religious. I seen to remember that we had a thread on that. :D
Getting back to the topic, I dont know what it is about but to me that doesnt matter. The wonderful sounds (Epic Like), going through the turbulent troughs of highs and lows, uncertainty, hope, despair, life and strength are all combined in this wonderful song. It encompases so much and is so beautiful, that is why it is a favourite of mine!:)
