How Often Do You Listen To New Order?

I find I'm listening more often than ever.It seems visiting these pages often triggers something I haven't heard for a while and now barely a days goes by without listening to an hour or two of New Order. I've bought about 5 records recently and hardly found time to play them. I also like Brotherdude a lot more than I used to.

Yeah same as. Used to listen to them often, but then when people mention how great a certain song is on here, I feel obliged to go home and re-listen to it.

In fact I bought a couple of new CD's yesterday with the sole intention of NOT listening to the 'Order for a few days as I'm starting to get a few 'obsessed' comments back home!

Been big into the early eigthies stuff (and even streching back to JD), mainly because of watching the little bit about them in the "Rock and Roll" documnetary from 95 recently. They were shown on TOTP playing Blue Monday, and scenes from the Confusion and PK vids were shown as well.

i dug out my Academy vid and PFD vid last nite initially to just play a couple of tracks...

ended up sitting through both from start to finish in what seemed like 5mins

PFD is really classic! especially when Barney says

"and now we'll play something else you dont know" !!

Anyone else a fan of Taras Shevchenko? (overwhelming silence) Well, I think it's a great live document of their early unsure phase.

Well, it's a great document indeed, but not very enjoyable...

Everything's Gone Green is the best (as well as during Temptation when Barney gets shocked by his mike). I've had it now for almost a month, so I might tire of it eventually, but so far I still love it.

T7 I've had Shevchenko for about 15 years... it really is an oddball piece of New Order memorabilia. I've said it before and I'm saying it again - out of all of the great gigs they've done in their careers, why the flipper do they re-release TS with 3:16 on the same discus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????

One things for certain, Factory or no Factory, they still make some freaky decisions.. I mean, just check Hooky's hooded tops.

Hello, my name is Brian and I'm Obsessed with New Order.

I listen to their music night and day. I make different compilations so I can hear different combinations of songs while i walk around Seattle. Recently, Spanish Heart (808 State), Vanishing Point (Making Out Instrumental), Security (Beat Club), Run2 (Extended), Perfect Kiss (12") World In Motion (b-side), Ruinded In A Day ( Ambient Mix) and a few other nuggets have taken over my portable disc player and refuse to be take out. I have been on a strict NewOrder diet since August . I still need the 81-82 ep and my copy of Regret (Slow and Low mix) is fucked. Any one interested in trading for these?

I LOVE Taras Shevchenko. It reminds me of those heady early days, the tension, the wonderment, the uncertainty! What disappointed back then was the fact that Movement was so weak, the power of the live performance of those songs was missing. Now I love Movement too, but you have to LISTEN to it under the right conditions, it's not something you can have on as background music.

Well this might sound odd, but since Get Ready first came out and did nish in Britain, I was so disconsolate, I could not bring myself to listen to the record again for a while, because of its relative failure. But then I discovered this site, and thanks to the massed shared views of all of you on the same object of our obsessions, I am now able to relent and allow myself the pleasure of hearing the album properly this time, and listen to in with a more appreciative ear. Whilst I'm logged on to this site, seven times out of ten I usually have a New Order compilation (own or official) or album playing in the background. All I can say is that it has helped me appreciate the true wonder of Get Ready rather than my initial bitter impression of it being New Order's first "FLOP" album for 10 years. And all your heated debate and criticism of all the album tracks on every single NO record has resulted in the formerly impossible: myself playing the same New Order song twice in one day (something I NEVER usually do - with ANY band at all!). How's that for dedication?

When I gave my Dad a lift the other day he said... what sounds have you got on your machine... I said New Order, and he said, and what else, and then I said, nothing.

One day I slipped a Smiths disk in but by the time dusk had drawn in I'd popped another New Order one in place. (After all, I couldn't have made the 20 minute trip home with only 9 cylinders functioning).

Whenever I happen to be in the mood generally. That's about as specific as I can get.

I listen to NewOrder every day. And at night, especially during the summer, I make a point to listen to it at high volume in my semi-ghetto neighborhood, just to bewilder my neighbors. I listen to other stuff as well, but I always try to end with NewOrder, because I always get the last song I listen to stuck in my head, and I'd rather it be NewOrder. Although lately I've had Rock the Shack playing through my head all day, and I rarely listen to Rock the Shack.

I don't need a multi-cd-exchanger.. I made an mp3 CDR with almost *all* New Order songs (except most of the mixes)... I can play it in my DVD player which is connected to the loudspeakers... :)

Have been ltening to the Order constantly since 10/16. Really have been listening to them a lot more due to mp3, have downloaded so much stuff that i didn't know was out there. And this place has been a treasure trove. Listening to the Mountain View concert right now in my ears (Bizzare Love Triangle)

My NO listening habit can be very compulsive but usually during the first 3 months of album or single release or hype.. I remembered when PCL came out, I was struggling with my first year uni assignment ( well architectural assignments take more than 6 months..) and PCL had been extremely helpful as a late night companion...remember every bits of PCL like being etched in my cranium..even that fking boring dragging song We All Stand.. Lowlife & Brotherhood too reminded me of late nights uni work. 1986/87 was 'full-on' New Order...they were here in Australia & Substance came out...though I was briefly interrupted by JAMC excellent Psychocandy.. Technique period was okay but I was again distracted by all the house/techno stuff then. Republic I thought was disappointing ( except for Regret ) and now...like Martin, when GR came out, again I was disappointed and was going to shelf or file the CD away..but all these discussions here kept me interested.

Nearly everyday. I've got one of their CD's in my stereo or in my car. I just about hear them daily on the radio as well.

Every single day. I listen in the car, in work (make the kids listen to it!),as soon as i get home, in the bath, when im making dinner, in the evenings, etc etc etc etc...i suppose you get the picure.

Liv, what do the kids think of New Order?

I get some very positive feedback. i have one class, year 10, so they are 14/15 and quite a few of them quite like NO nowadays (all my fault!). I took my mini-disc into school the other day and one lad asked if he could have a play with it, he spent the whole of lunchtime in my room listening to Crystal over and over again. One pupil, Joe, has his own band and they do a cover of Blue Monday, and he is also well into JD and has borrowed CD's and vinyl from me.... So, im working on them.

All the kids i teach know who JD/NO are, because of the poster I have up on my classroom wall, not entirely educational, but hey it keeps the staff happy! lol
