Huntsy, with your imagination it's obvious to even an uneducated fettler like me that you don't need to copy, but that is not what I said. I said, or meant, that things are a little boring when everyone agrees, has the same opinions, likes and dislikes etc. etc. Debate stirs things up, I like that. :smoking:

What the fucking Noreen is the 'BlowJob Syndrome'... is it the follow up to the 'China Syndrome' hit film in the eighties?

To get this thread back on topic, I thought you all might like to know that six of us placed Slow Jam in the top five in the Get Ready poll.

Yes, i've seen it. It's dull as fuck, in fact the only post I ever made on it was telling the buggers to wakey wakey. At least here the general banter usually keeps things interesting, and with the assembled cast of characters a laugh is always assured. I used to Yahoo chat quite regularly but the feckers on that are all intent on insulting you and have absolutely fuck all to say. This forum is the best i've come across, lucky for me it's New Order based. :smoking:

Well, Huntsy, the contribution I'm proudest of is the original uncensored Crystal lyrics.

Huntsy I was referring to an earlier comment of Muffy's...the full term he used was 'blowjobs all round syndrome', but I couldn't be arsed to type it all

What exactly did you think it might be?? Walking around with stuff dribbling down yer chin?

Well i'm about to edit it down to it's rightful place, just above 'Smelly Shithouse' at number nine. :smoking:

It must be about time for the results of that list innit?

Muff, Slow Jam should be a very distant no.10 in your list. Even the much maligned Rocky Shacky has something about it, not just a lame, feeble, painful cry for help like Slow Jam

To me Seb, 'Ode To A Smelly Outhouse' has too much of a Primals influence on it. Not that I dislike the Primals, au contrere, I just don't want them on an Order album. I think the two offending articles have a similar sound to them though. :smoking:

I think I should add though that the version of 'Rotten Shag' on the BBC session was really skankin, infinately better than the album version. :smoking:

I thought you might be interested in comments about Slow Jam from the message board at neworderweb.com:

run: "I agree, I think slow jam is the best song on the cd too. The first time I heard it, i thought it by far had the best chorus melody on the whole cd (Primitive Notion and Turn My Way have the other 2 best choruses on the cd in my opinion). The best lyrics for a chorus are in this song too. "I dont want the world to change, I like the way it is, Just give me one more wish, I cant get enough of this" If that is not a classic N.O. chorus (vague, but thought provoking) then I don't know what on this new cd is. The deadpan vocals on the verses are Barney at his best, it sets up the chorus great! Hook adds the great bass line in the chorus too!!! The jam til the end of the song after the break in the middle takes me back to "As It Is When It Was" style...monotonous and driving! You know, I was and still am not a real big fan of the songs that get toooooo techno/electronic by NO. I know some of thier biggest songs were the electronic ones but that is because they appealed to a wider (more top 40, trendy, cheesey) audience. Give me Hook on the bass, Barney with the guit, Steve on the drums (not programming them) and Gillian on the other guit...like "Ceremony". That style is N.O. at their best."

Twistjg26: "Agreed, a great song. Much better than Rock the Shack. Better than any dancy tune off of Technique. Almost seems upbeat and happy. But Run Wild is still running through my veins."

p0lychr0me: "No contest the best song on the record ... perhaps with new lyrical poignancy after Sept 11th? With the plea to keep things the way they are and just celebrate the simple things? Love this track."

Britrock1: "I often have this song on repeat on my cd player. It is the most straight up rock n roll track on the cd. Anyone who doesn't like it must be those who are stuck in "New Order = Blue Monday or anything that sounds like it" mode. I love Joy Division, and this song is the most Joy Division-like N.O. tune since Ceremony."

p0lychr0me: "Totally agree Britrock ... this album doesn't take off and fly for me until Slow Jam --- I also think it sounds very contemporary (with the electronic effects), almost Blur or Gorillaz sounding. Love the guitar and bass ... almost vintage Power, Corruption, and Lies era. Strong work after the weakness of Republic."

Also, what is wrong with the title of the song...it is not State of the Nation, Mr. Disco or Spooky....later

"Even though it's monochrome, tells me what I should do"

Muffy, as I've documented befored I am quite fond of Lick the Crack. I do agree though it is a bit PScreamish for a NO album. It's more the sort of thing I would have expected of Leccytronic, and in fairness it may have fitted in better on TT

Oh Seb, i'm quite partial to a 'lick of the crack' myself you know! I agree with the leccy thing, it would have sat a little more comfortably in their repertoir. :smoking:

Not guilty m'lud! Although while we're at it i'll confess to stirring the shit about Run Wild in the past, but I tripped myself up a week or two back when i spoke of it's beauty. :smoking:

As I said soooooooooo many times around here.. I like this song, it was my pick for 4th single until everyone started bashing the song, so I went for Close Range after that... :D

But it's catchy.. it might be my #3 on the album as well (After Turn My Way and Crystal)....

I'd love to listen to a real remix, not trancy-boring stuff...
