We've had to postpone the planned big event in Manchester until later in the year, probably September.

As you may have read at World in Motion, Bernard Sumner is doing a DJ set in London the same night, which would have had rather a damaging effect on the size of crowd we could expect - people would much rather stand around a DJ booth hoping that he plays the new single rather than seeing live bands playing all your favourite songs, so it's a little beyond our control.

Fear not though, the event will be rescheduled for later in the year.

TIM...what has happened with your band?I saw a note on another thread about you NOT being a band but thought you were joking. If you don't wanna say just say NO!:thumb:

I take it everyone UK-based will be in attendance for this one?

Not Mancland again! I am sick of going up there!

I will be in attendance though subject to work!

Known Pleasures have changed their name to "Digital" as we didn't want to be confused with Unknown Pleasures, particularly as we are both getting gigs in the same area with one of the same promoters. A bit like changing from Warsaw to Joy Division really !

We're also playing two nights before this, probably in London.

Of course, we'll take his money, then let him loose for everyone to kick the shite out of him. he'd probably appreciate that.

He can wait in line behind Slippy - who's gonna get an almighty shoe'ing for this Minidisc debacle.

That's if somebody doesn't get the Slipster first at ACR/Doves. :evil4:

Oh yeah, never noticed that. Not sure Sumner's gonna get much of a following in London on a Sunday though - tis the European Championship final after all... Don't think I'll bother. He says.

Can't speak for everyone else, but I'd rather do the Mancland thing than Barney DJing in London.

I mean, there'd be half-a-dozen at most for the London thing, and it's not like the audience you'd hope to capture in Mancland is all gonna be travelling down for Sumner anyways, is it? As it is, even with Barney in London I'm not sure I'd go whether I have something better to do, or not. No offence to the lad, but there is a major footie game on that night!

and with the delay...I might be able to make it over...

is that a good thing???

Pay Barney to be the DJ at your gig :p

Pay him twice the amount he's getting there , that should do it ;)

Cheers Al, but we've had to take the decision early to avoid messing the venue around and incurring considerable costs. We'll run it in September/October. We always suspected the footy would be a big problem, and Barney gazumping us is the icing on the cake !
