Judging by Erasure going in at number 4 with their new one.
I think it's due to a lot of younger people downloading new singles instead of buying them from the shops whereas older people will rather go and buy the CD.
Or am i just talking shite like usual?

when you consider the Brighton and Hove Albion fans managed to rig the charts to get in at #17, I think NOOL users can rig a top 10 no problems...
Hey if it's marketed correctly it could do well in the states too considering what the ties too Gwen Stefani and where the Killers got their name. But New Order being marketed well in the states??? It'll never happen.

Depends of the song... if it's good, it'll get airplay, if it's not, we'll like it, but we'll be the only ones as usual

Where's Martin Gray when you need him?
He can give you wall charts and everything about the performances of neworder singles / albums. Whether there was rain that year and less people got out to the shops, whether they released more than one single before album was released, whether the single was included on an album and the coupe de gras, whether the single was good or not. We disagreed a lot on these points;)
Regret got to Number 4, Crystal Number 8 (I think) the next song should hit the Top 10, but let's be honest, no-one really gives a fuck these days....do we?
Charts are crap. At least here in Oz. They don't reflect actual record sales, but pre-orders from record shops. Hence our Australian Idols make the no 1 spot, only to later have their cds shipped back to the record company.
Now charts can reflect genuine demand if shops actually run out cds and have to order more. For the Order to chart here, it would mean that the shops would have to sell out their initial estimates of how many cds they might sell, and then order more. Hence, they would have to sell a shitload (Aussie for Lots). Which quite frankly is almost impossibe here.
Now I do want the Order to be commercialy successful, and wish them all the best for the new album. Hey if there's money in it for them, they might think twice before calling it a day.
Its more important that the album does well isnt it? On which point,i have some bad news-Its ccoming out on the same day as the new Coldplay album. The Stereophonics also release their new album the same week. I think they could beat Kelly Jones & Co to No.1 but not Coldplay. 
Even if the album stays in most countries Top 50's for at least 2 months that's a great victory for a band that prides itself on not being a bunch of media tarts and can still make music such a beautiful thing(& no, I don't work for Warner Australia's Marketing dept!!).

I have no freaking idea who's Kelly Jones, but you made my day by telling me 2 of my favorite groups will be releasing an album the SAME DAY... will have to buy both!!
Luckly I'll have the New Order promo before (crossing fingers!) so I won't have the dillema to pick which one goes first in the CD player 
Krafty will go in with a bullet, don't hold out much hope for the 2nd and 3rd singles though, even with a Scissor Sister singing and (perhaps) some new b-sides. Just not the done thing with New Order really, is it?

What a shame it's not true. The third Coldplay album don't have a release date yet and it's highly unlike to be in March.

IMHO, the Technique singles were better each time ;) my favorite being Run, then Round & Round and, I still want to figure why Fine Time has been released... oh well.

Nice story that. Undoubtedly true as well, it's just the sort of thing they would have done. Didn't know which one to release so let Rob choose!
The story I have always heard (I believe my source is Sébastien) is that the band hired (or Factory) people to pick the first single off Technique (I believe I once read here they picked Vanishing Point), and the band decided that they knew nothing about music and they would pick the single themselves and picked Fine Time.
Any truth in that?
(Al: I'm not really well informed on the british music scene of the 80's, sorry ;) )
Back to the topic, I've read that this week #1 in the UK (probably an Elvis song what's with that?) had the LOWEST sales EVER for a #1 (22K copies or so)
with that in mind, there are more registered members on NOOL... if everybody pre-order Krafty for its release date, we can beat that and get New Order their 2nd #1 in career...

Well according to interviews it was Rob who picked the single. There was a TV interview with the band on TOTP, where they were asked who picked the singles, they said they couldn't agree on the first single off Technique so Rob picked it.
I wrote this elsewhere (but with spelling errors):
We all know that all the Elvis number ones are being re-released in the hope of having the 17 or so consecutive number ones with different songs.
In the middle of this glut comes New Order with Krafty. This weeks number one only sold 22,000 copies, the lowest ever. That means that New Order's second number one is highly attainable. All we have to do is make sure they sell more than 30,000 copies as that is how many Elvis singles will be pressed.
Not only would it be a wonderful achievement for New Order to return to the chart at number one, but to stop what ever record Elvis's people are trying to set.
I think what Elvis's rereleases also does is to confirm what I have previously said about New Order rereleasing all their early Factory singles on CD single for the first time in a limited run, giving them high chart positions for a number of weeks.

Moby's new album will be released March 14 in Europe. This might have an impact on the Order's sales. :(
Another factor is chart return shops. If you buy from any old store, its not likely to count towards a chart placing.
HMV are the main provider of sales figures for the charts in the UK, if you buy from them or pre order from their on-line shop then this will definitely count towards the charts.
Another trick, if you're really keen, is to buy the different versions of the CD separately. There is likely to be a CD1 and a CD2 with the latter including different mixes etc. If you go to the counter with both in your hand this only counts as one sale for chart purposes. If you pay for one and then queue up again with the second CD then this will count as two sales towards the charts. The same applies if there is a vinyl version released.
Have to say, I've never been arsed to do this and it won't change this time.
